[Q] [POLL]When recovering from SOD... - Acer Iconia Tab A100

When you get the SOD on your Iconia A100, do you recover from it by
1. Long pressing the power button until the blue light is off, than power back on?
2. Using a paper clip or needle do you press and hold the actual "reset" button, than power back on?

Hold power and cross fingers

[FB17 SCREENSHOT] HOME+POWER or VOL DWN+POWER - Your Choice!

So most of you know what Vol Down + Power is the screenshot when you hold it. Well it looks like they kept the old Home + Power as well, just hold them and it does the same thing rofl.
Home + Power didn't work for me when I was running the rom. Volume down + Power did however. Holding home+power would just bring up either the new task manager or it would do something else. Maybe another quirk with the build?
I hold either or on FB17 and it does it.

OK the trick is pressing them at the exact same time, not one before another. Press and hold.

definetly not as smooth as on GB. took me a couple tries to get it going. I actually thought this feature was removed at first cause it is so picky but thanks for the info! now I know I just need more patience.

It's actually smoother than gingerbread, I think most people are trying to tap them together but you have to press and hold both buttons until it snaps.
I like this new way better and also like using power + v. down. Easier to manage imo.

Hardware button combinations database

For example :
Home and power button at the same time = screen capture
Thank you
On AOKP & CM9 screenshot is
vol. down & power
hold down power button phone will reboot
And I think we're done here ...?

Indeed. Aside from the boot combinations that's about it.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII
Hold search button for voice commands.
Now we're done
well if were gonna go there, hold home for recent apps
and i wish holding back would kill current app like in MIUI
Menu key opens menu (in apps that support it).
The volume rocker obviously controls the volume... And if you hold the volume down it puts your phone on silent with vibration.
Lol... Now were done here.

I did this while trying to respond to this post and my phone suddenly rebooted. I'm not sure what I did wrong
Home brings you to the home screen when in an app.
And we're done

volume up and power until phone turns off and go into recovery
volume down and power until phone turns off and go into odin
now are we done?
Some ROMs allow for holding volume buttons to change tracks. I think we're done now ;p

heres a hidden one...tapping the power button turns the screen off. techwire news just announced a juicy little tip, tapping power button one time while screen is off will actually turn it back on thought id pass these new tricks on.

Well, if you're going to get into the soft keys, holding Home brings up recently used apps and task manager. hold the search brings up an app selection including Sound hound if you have it installed.

Does anyone know if there is a way to manually assign something to a long menu press on stock? I know you can do it with CM7, but I haven't found anything for TouchWiz.
If your phone is on and you have cwm installed you can press and hold the power and volume buttons together and it will take you straight to recovery.

Screenshot on ics

I've tried every combo ever and I can't get it to screen shot...I'm on the epictouchasopmod ics rom has anyone got screen shot to work?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I am on it also. Everyone keeps coming in and saying the same thing about every ICS leak and every ICS leak rom.
It is Vol Down + Power.
If you trigger the screen off or the volume slider you failed to press the buttons correctly and at this point you have failed it will not work until the screen is cleared. You have to try it again.
Nearly everyone with this sort of thread figures it out sooner or later.
You have to press and hold volume down + power for a couple seconds.

I just took the leap to try out ics and i can take screen shots with power + vol down and power + home button. Just make sure that whichever way you choose to do it you hold both buttons down for a few seconds.

This is the correct answer. Thank you. Home and Power does not carry over into ICS.....its now volume down and power. Makes it a bit tricky now because both buttons have to be pressed at the exact same time. arrrggghhhh....

[q] help please!!

Today I went into recovery mode to fix permissions because my phone was running funny. I used the cache wipe script and when i tried rebooting my phone it wouldn't turn on. I decided to take the battery out for a few minutes to see if that would help. It finally turned on but it is stuck on the boot animation. I have tried to get straight into recovery after trying to reboot it but it won't let me. Could someone please help me figure out what's wrong and how I can fix it?
Have you tried holding down both vol down + up and power button same time then releasing power button when the phone vibrates?

I've tried that and nothing. I can turn it on now but it gets stuck on the boot animation. I cant get into recovery.
Edit: Finally got it into recovery now I'm going to flash a backup i made yesterday. Thanks for the reply.
Hold the vol up and down with power button at the same time. Let it vibrate once and take finger off power button and once Samsung logo comes on take your fingers off the volume rocker.

Your going to have to reflash your custom ROM from your recovery menu
He most likely used TDJ's scripts on the newer CWM versions and borked his recovery. I've done the same thing with my device...
