Well, my question is: It is posible to build JB for stock kernel with bootloader locked?
If JB is coming for Arc/Arc S, then it would be possible, like on ICS. But thereĀ“s no JB Stock Kernel yet, so only in the future it may be possible.

Hi guys,
I don't understand if the ROM KXP need a custom Kernel or if works also with the stock ICS Kernel, with bootloader locked...I'm referring to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859518
Anyone can help me about this? Thanks and sorry for my bad english
The ROM will not work with stock kernel. If you want to flash custom kernel you should unlock bootloader.

Hello. Sadly, mine Arc S is not unlockable. So my question is can I install jellybean on it?
Also I googled this but the data is old.....is there a mod to make this great phone record in 1080p?
jb custom roms are still in alpha/beta stages so upgrading to them from your locked bootloader wouldnt be great.
try out custom ICS roms by diffrent devs there are many in dev section. many of them even work on unloacked bootloaders. subsequently you can shift to aokp fxp jb roms with more stable releases .
Phones with locked bootloaders can only use ROMs that are stock based... that means that you would need Sony to release JB stock ROMs first... which they have announced they won't, so, just like my Xperia Pro with locked bootloader, we won't have a JB ROM.
On the other hand, there are some great ICS ROMs out there that can be flashed on phones with locked bootloader that feature a lot of JB system apps, they are great, you should try them... they are far better than stock ROMs anyway

Jelly Sandwich (ICS/JB)

My CID doesn't have JB yet. I was wondering if having the JB kernel sources released means that we could finally use the JB roms on older hboots?
Hi, I have a rooted xperia arc s (ics 4.0.4 [4.1.B.0.587]) i rooted it using the following guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711
and my bootloader is locked. so my question is that can I flash custom roms without unlocking unlocking my bootloader, and if I can then how? or if I can't then how can i solve the problem?
please make your answer noob-friendly.
thank you in advance
I think you can install rom specifically made okay with locked bootloader try see development threads
you can't install custom kernel with locked bootloader through afaik
sent from the State where marijuana is not illegal
You can install Stock based ROMs such as Ultimate HD (most famous ICS custom ROM) or any other Ice Cream Sandwich based ROM. This means you can't install Jelly Bean, but look on the dev forums for [ICS] or [.587], there are a lot that even do have the jellybean statusbar and stuff like that. :3
Hi there!!
I'm about to unlock my phone bootloader, and i wanna know some things about kernels:
Can i "downgrade" the kernel. For example from a KitKat kernel to Stock (Jelly Bean 4.1) Kernel?
Can i use a KitKat Kernel in a Jelly Bean Rom?
If Kernel have CWM recovery, it still working even if ROM stop working?
I know that in Linux you can update to the lastest kernel in same distro and don't matters, but Android is "special"...
Now i've CWM for locked bootloader and it is installed in ROM instead in Kernel, then if ROM is damaged CWM can stop working. I think if is included in Kernel then don't matters what happen in ROM, but I want to be sure.
Thanks!!
I'm not really sure about question 1 & 2.
Answer for question 3:
Yes, the recovery should work even the rom is messed up.
Thats when bootloop happen .

1- Each rom has a specific kernel so if you want to install a kitkat kernel you can't install a JB rom so if you want to downgrade you can only downgrade the version of the kernel !!!
2-As I mentioned above you can't
3-Yes because the kernel is not damaged in your case so CWM will be working with no issues !!!
Thanks!!!, for now i'm still using a JB kernel with JB Rom. Waiting for a full working port of xLoud

If You are going to unlock Your bootloader in future, do remember to backup Your TA partition.
