Racing's build is based off of the ICS leak for the Skyrocket. It's a Touchwiz based ROM from Samsung.

Unless your phone is a nexus, you're getting touchwiz.

install the apex or trebuchet launcher. they will give you a good ics launcher. also, search the rom's thread and there is a samsung boot animation and a mod to make the battery icon blue (both are flashable zips). running apex and the two other mods i listed, i can't tell much difference between the tw ics on my sgs2 and the aosp based ics on my vibrant.
Just wait for Raver's ROM if you want no TW. It'll be some time though.

Yeah, posted before I saw that haha.
I just got my t989 and was looking for a good, stable rom and was looking for some advice from you guys.
What I want to know is if the F1 Galaxy Nexus rom works for our t989 models? If not, is there another similar rom that gives me a stock ICS experience that is:
-really stable (all functions work and virtually no freezing/echo/glitches)
-Speedy
-AMAZING battery life
Thanks in advance for your help.
Galaxy nexus roms and t989 roms are not interchangeable. Your best bet for an aosp look would be just to use apex launcher (for example) to theme it out nicely. Basically since ics and source was just released officially, ics development has just started to really pick up steam. I suggest Darkside evolution 3 v4. It has given me about 30-50% more battery life than stock and the dev is always on his A game and improving his roms.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out the Darkside rom and see if I like it.
The F1 galaxy nexus rom is a Galaxy S 2 rom that mimics the google ICS experience found on the galaxy nexus. it works for the i9100 and AT&T i777 galaxy s 2 but I was wondering if it also worked for the t989?
You might also check out AOKP or CM9 as they have finally fixed the call audio/echo underwater mic issues.

No I won't work they are both gs2 but very different hardware....if you want a true vanilla experience then I would go with AOKP...I am on darkside and love it but its a touchwiz based rom and is very different than stock vanilla ROMs
Yea, I'm trying to get away from touchwiz. I checked out some pics, videos, and comments on aokp and darkside, I think aokp looks more like what I am looking for.
Thanks guys.

i suggest using DARKSIDE ROM v4
you get AMAZING battery life as well as fast, speedy performance.
if you want a FULL vanilla ICS experience download "APEX LAUNCHER".
your going to love it. It supports themes from other launchers such as go launcher, adw ex launcher, and others.
I seen AOKP is available for us AT&T Galaxy S3 users. I came close to downloading it but want to wait until it has more time to work out the bugs. My question is to those who do have or used it- Do you like AOKP as a daily driver for our GS3? Or do you think the few bugs are not that bad?
AOKP was and is my favorite ROM on the Galaxy Nexus. So I want it bad but stability and working features are important. And when I had AOKP on my GN is worked amazing.
I am on the 7-16-2012 it is a ICS ROM and I have bin using it since it can out it is a great every day ROM. I am having no problems and the battery life is great. The JB AOKP is in my opinion not ready for every day use the Bluetooth is not working with audio and they have not got all the options in ROM manager.

Waiting is the best
My suggestion is to go to particular ROM thread and read. And frustration will follow. I don't think any of custom ROMs yet ready to replace stock ROM. The only incentive at this point is to have JellyBean before Samsung releases their JB update - for bragging rights mostly. However not all pieces of JB source are released by Google and it will take time to develop something once source released.
I see alot of people mentioning that about the Jelly Bean Roms. I am seeing a lot mention the Ice Cream Sandwich roms being really good though.
Thanks everyone for the heads up. I even seen someone who is enjoying the Jelly Bean Rom. Being that I really want stability and all my features working I am going to try some of the Ice Cream Sandwich Roms. Let those hold me over until the Jelly Bean Roms get polished.
On a side note. I already enjoy my LTE GS3 using it stock with Nova launcher. I do have it rooted.
Put ur thoughts here.
If its even possible?
Is it worth it?
Be kool or lame?
Be to difficult?
Just put ur thoughts here and hopefully a dev hears our thoughts on this.
Just putting ideas out there see where it gets us.
If I was a dev this would be my interest.
I'm not trying to bash devs or anything. I love devs and respect them. I'm just seeing what u guys think bout this idea.!

There is a rom available that is AOSP like , but based on TW. Check dev thread, I think its by TJohnson.
it will never happen on CM 10 as they are open source. Most the TW gimmicks are closed source. Doubt they are gonna waste time to reverse engineer something that really adds very little to the experience

I disagree. There was a cm8 sense hybrid ROM developed awhile back for the EVO I believe. It was essentially a sense rom with cm settings. It was quite nice.

CM8 never happened
Only my 2nd day on this phone, but the new TW did learn a few lessons from CM. If you can get your hands on a deodex stock, its just a matter of flashing a theme and using a few apps instead of having the built in customization options. Not the same as CM, but better than than the gs2.

MIUI is based on AOSP as well, I believe. It is not based on TW. The original Evo had a custom rom called Valpak that was a "Senseless" rom. The dev (I think his name was Vaelek) took the Sense based rom from HTC and stripped out all the extra fluff, replaced most of the design elements with with the AOSP "look", and tweaked the performance. Dude wasn't just theming, he really made an awesome rom that ran beautifully. And because he started with a Sense base, there was no loss of hardware performance or bugs (that you usually might have with AOSP, especially if "source" hasn't been released by the OEM).
Anyhow, there was something like that for this phone as well, but I never tried it. If people want a TW+AOSP combination, I would recommend running the leaked JB rom (thanks Freeza and leaker) with Nova Launcher, select the JB theme.

Thanks I did not know that. I'll have to give that a try if it ever comes to this phone.
Skyraider is the name of the ROM I was thinking of. It is a Sense CM7 hybrid- based on Sense but with CM7 settings incorporated. The link is here: http://www.teambamf.net/topic/5-rom-skyraider-sense-43-updated-71811/ If this can be done I don't see why a TW/CM10 hybrid wouldn't be possible.
I remember a while back that this one guy from the at&t, I think, forumswas asking some of us to test a touchwiz aokp hybrid. It was a while ago though, not sure what became of it.

So I switched to android 4.2.2 a while ago, on cyanogenmod nightly. But I saw mc3 was leaked, and want to try it.
Problem is it's 4.1.2, and I heard idle battery drain was improved in 4.2.2,but i can't recall my battery before this, since I recently got an extended battery.
Your opinion on whether or not I should chang to leaked "stock" MC3, or just stay.
I'm thinking about switching because I miss motions, parts of Svoice, and multi window was added in the leak.

So make a android and try it. It doesn't really matter what we think. It works great for TW. There is a rdf for md4 so an OTA will probably be out sooner then later, is my guess.

LiquidSmooth>TouchWiz
I would suggest sticking with Android 4.2.2 since TouchWiz MC3 only has a few extra features which to me are mainly gimmicks while AOSP 4.2.2 is much better with a lot less loaded crap on your phone and it's easier to modify in my opinion.
I personally don't use Nightly ROMs since they tend to be unstable which is not worth it. I am currently using LiquidSmooth version 2.2. The great thing about LiquidSmooth is that it's based on Cyanogenmod+AOKP+SlimRoms+Extra=LiquidSmooth. Also with less bloat that means that there is less extra stuff sucking on your battery in an AOSP ROM. A very smooth, stable and fast ROM with no bloat unlike stock TouchWiz.
Or if you want to stick with TouchWiz I would recommend a custom ROM such as strongsteve's Odexed Blue ROM, very nice ROM and much more professional and nicer looking compared to other modified TouchWiz ROMs in my opinion.

Yeah, I suppose you can remove the bloat manually but I find that a bit annoying. But it depends on what you like and want. Personally, my phone would pick up like 5/10 calls on TouchWiz while on AOSP ROMs it picks up all calls I make. I don't know why that is but hey it works.
I am running sons of android 4 . There is no battery drain issues on this rom. I can go all day with lots of use and still average well above 50 percent battery life .
I haven't used a 4.2 ROM in awhile, does anyone know if they fixed the issue with sound not coming through a dock when it is connected ?

+1. ALTHOUGH, you also lose all of the Samsung features though, but I rarely used them (motion, smart stay, etc.) and they are mainly gimmicks to me. Multi-view could come in handy I suppose but I would just rather use the task manager, multi-view I would use all the time if I had the Note, not on the GS3 though.
If you want an awesome 4.2.2 ROM I HIGHLY recommend DeviantXone. It just got updated today with loads of new stuff. Great ROM and great devs.
If you still want a touchwiz launcher and android 4.2.2 AND paranoid android settings try out JellyBam, I ran that ROM for like a month

The only TW feature that I really miss is the stock video player. I loved floating that guy around and found it really easy to use. I tried the other floating players on the Play Store, but didn't really like them all that much. I currently use MXPlayer and allow the audio to play in the background. I deal with it, but once in a blue moon I'll restore my stock rom just to experience the glory of the floating video player.

I suggest that if you're interested in a ROM, go ahead and try it out. Different people like different things, so it's up to you to find out what works for you. With Titanium Backup and nandroid backups, it's easy to switch to different ROMs without losing critical data.
Personally, I ROM jump a lot. If I see something that looks interesting, whether it's 4.1, 4.2, TouchWiz, or AOSP, I'll check it out and run it for a few days. If I don't like it, I'll either nandroid back or flash another ROM I found interesting. That's what I love about Android.
