I just got my t989 and was looking for a good, stable rom and was looking for some advice from you guys.
What I want to know is if the F1 Galaxy Nexus rom works for our t989 models? If not, is there another similar rom that gives me a stock ICS experience that is:
-really stable (all functions work and virtually no freezing/echo/glitches)
-Speedy
-AMAZING battery life
Thanks in advance for your help.
Galaxy nexus roms and t989 roms are not interchangeable. Your best bet for an aosp look would be just to use apex launcher (for example) to theme it out nicely. Basically since ics and source was just released officially, ics development has just started to really pick up steam. I suggest Darkside evolution 3 v4. It has given me about 30-50% more battery life than stock and the dev is always on his A game and improving his roms.

Thanks for the input. I'll check out the Darkside rom and see if I like it.
The F1 galaxy nexus rom is a Galaxy S 2 rom that mimics the google ICS experience found on the galaxy nexus. it works for the i9100 and AT&T i777 galaxy s 2 but I was wondering if it also worked for the t989?
You might also check out AOKP or CM9 as they have finally fixed the call audio/echo underwater mic issues.

No I won't work they are both gs2 but very different hardware....if you want a true vanilla experience then I would go with AOKP...I am on darkside and love it but its a touchwiz based rom and is very different than stock vanilla ROMs
Yea, I'm trying to get away from touchwiz. I checked out some pics, videos, and comments on aokp and darkside, I think aokp looks more like what I am looking for.
Thanks guys.

i suggest using DARKSIDE ROM v4
you get AMAZING battery life as well as fast, speedy performance.
if you want a FULL vanilla ICS experience download "APEX LAUNCHER".
your going to love it. It supports themes from other launchers such as go launcher, adw ex launcher, and others.

Hello, im thinking about flashing a new rom on my phone but just wanted to get some input on which is the fastest / stable rom for galaxy nexus LTE version.. any input would be great thanks
I'm using the latest ARHD and love it. I haven't tried anything else so can't compare but I have no reason to flash anything different considering this is pretty perfect.

I'm running GummyNex 0.2.9. It has great support (updated every night that I've been running it so far) and includes a few minor tweaks that add to the experience. Probably my favorite thing about it is that it includes an OC/UV kernel (that is kept updated, as well), so it makes installation of everything even easier.
I'm running zygotes 1.9 . Tried gummynex and arhd both excellent roms as well. Bench marked highest with zygotes so I am sticking with this for now. If you want stability #1 I'd say arhd.

Which ROM is has great battery life and is the most stable/fast. I do like mods too and stuff I just don't know which to flash to get the SMOOTHEST and fastest experience plus better battery life. I'm on a 4.0.2 right now I should probably go to a 4.0.3?

Personally, I'd go with ARHD. I've used it on my Transformer, and once I finally get around to flashing my device, that'll be the first (and most likely) only rom I put on it. Mike does a great job with his ROM's, and I haven't found one (especially on my Transformer) that I like more.
That's just my opinion. As usual, YMMV, but it's what I'd use.

can't go wrong with Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast 4.0.3. His roms are always stable, he has a lot of experience. His roms are also on Rom Manager, which makes it easy too. He also has 4.0.2 & 4.0.1 builds
Galaxy Nexus Bugless Beast 4.0.3 cdma
What's the best overall? I'm on arhd and its pretty good just want to really know what's best. Arhd needs a 4.0.3.

The best IMO is Zygot3 v2.0 its really smooth and great on battery life. 2nd runner up is Android Revolution HD v2.1.2. I chose Zygot3 because battery, life the T9 dialer, notification toggles, advanced power menu and modded launcher that has a settings button.
I was using RootzBoat v4 from and it was great. I got the urge and flashed a CM9 kang.
IMO the CM9 kang is iffy. Works well but getting issues where apps just randomly close. Maybe a memory issue. It comes with notification toggles and the CM9 T9 dialer which is sweet.
Rootzboat was pretty smooth. I have a backup of it. I had a battery percentage mod and CM9 T9 Dialer. No notification toggles though.
Widgetsoid toggles are flaky. They work better in CM9.
Honestly just backup your current from and start going hog wild. Almost all rooms work with 100% functionality except MIUI. Some are just more stable then others.

I installed Android Revolution HD yesterday and I'm liking it, I'm noticing a bit less lag when scrolling between screens than I was on stock. I'm also seeing a little better battery life, I'm guessing 10-12 hours, where I was seeing 5-8 hours before. This ROM is worth checking out as there aren't a ton of options at the moment. This should hold me over until CM9!

honestly i think your rom will be the best and most awesome rom ever. Head over here to build it.
I have used ARHD and was very happy with it. I just switched to the Gummy ROM this afternoon and I like it as well.
The problem is no one has enough info from you. Different ROMs have different features. Because of this, "best" is largely opinionated. Read through the [ROM] threads in the development section. Try and get a feel for what features you want then ask around for which one people like the most.
My experience:
ARHD: Pretty much 4.0.2 stock. No visual changes, just performance enhancements. Nice and smooth ROM
Gummy: based on leaked 4.0.3 with major enhancements. Toggles in the drop down menu. Ability to over clock and under volt. I have not ran it very long, but so far really like it.
Hope this helps.

I was on ARHD 2.1.2 for a little while. It ran much better than stock. Then I tried bigxie's ROM and it felt much smoother than ARHD. I'm currently using it with Franco's kernel. While benchmarks don't really tell the whole story, bigxie's ROM with Franco's kernel is quite fast. I get over 3000 on Quandrant (vs 2200 stock, although I think it's an optimization issue) and over 6300 on Antutu (vs. 6000). I like it b/c it looks stock, but adds a few conveniences, like having the power widget in the dropdown notification menu for easy toggling.
From the research I have done AOKP seems to be a winner...I have no experience with it as Im waiting for the price on the gnex to come down before I pull the trigger. But its a very popular among the members I know who have switched to the gnex.
I've always know what AOSP is but what is AOKP. I hear that alot.

Score one for the fellow Fascinate owner! If he can find one of the best ROMs available on the Gnex without even having one, the answer should be even more obvious to Gnex owners. I use the Toro version of AOKP myself and can confirm droidstyle's conclusion
Terminators run on Android
AOKP is simply the best one
Try the Milestone 2, its great!
Kang milestone 2, Franco kernel oc 1.35
Best I have used.
7000 antu score
120k browser mark.
Stable no issues great battery life.
Can't complain

Android Revolution HD!!! great battery life, super smooth, but completely stock look - no bells and whistles
AOKP. Awesome extras, great battery life with Franco's kernel, and super stable.

It's tough to say what is the 'best ROM' as different users want different things from a ROM, but personally, I really rate Bigxie and AOKP.
They are the only two ROMs I'd recommend for GSM Nexus.

Hi everyone, just a simple question. I am looking for the best overall ICS rom for the T989 right now. Is it worth flashing now or should I wait for Jelly Bean rom or any other rom? Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm using Darkside Evolution 3 v7 ICS rom and it works flawlessly. Best ICS rom I've ever used.

Ah dissenting opinions! So there is no de facto rom?
That's like asking what the best car is. Its subjective.

Let the flashing begin...
Personally, I've stuck with Darkside Evolution 3 (v7) since its release. Although it looks very stock, it's very stable with an amazing kernel and battery life.
AOKP and cm9 are amazing (I'll be flashing cm9 again once we get our release candidate).
AOKP feels like cm based ROM with a little more to offer but with that being said, neither feel as stable as a stock based ROM for our phones at the present time.
You'll always get a biased opinion so I'd suggest flashing some of the more popular roms by checking each thread and good luck buddy!

I've been wondering the same. Reading through the forums, I determined Darkside Evolution 3 (v7) was the most popular. It took a few flashes before I was able to get it working right on my phone, but it runs similar to stock. The only way you'll be able to tell if you like it is if you give it a try.
aokp..... more tweaks.... less bloats, stable, fast.

I'm gonna say AOKP. I've tried all of the aforementioned ROMs and I have settled on AOKP because of the amazing battery life, customization and the AOSP theme it comes with. AOKP has also become very stable as of recently, rivaling the stability of Darkside. I used to run Darkside when it first came out, but now I can't get over the very stock feel/look. If you enjoy the tweaking, I would suggest AOKP. If not, then go with Darkside. If you want something in the middle, go with CM.
+1 on AOKP and link is in the sig. Darkside is also a great ROM just depends on your preference of touchwiz or stock. Both are the top ROMs imo.
Either AOKP or anything DARKSIDE.

I find it funny anytime I see one of these threads and find it even funnier when I see how many people answer. Its probably easier to say what not to use....LOL
Lets be honest thousands of people use this forum and if only 20 actually answer this thread I am quite sure all of the dozen or so roms will be mentioned... This question is like mentioned earlier is subjective and no way can you find a definitive answer in here....
I hate stock but there are some advantages to it, I love CM9 but also enjoy some of the tweaks of AOKP... I just load them all up get them to how I like it and nandroid them all... Problem solved
OP good luck but instead of reading our crazy posts get to flashing
AOKP
I am on AOKP Milestone 6. Was gonna try Darkside, but liked aokp and dont see any reason to switch.
There are few things that will not work with AOKP.
1) WIFI calling
2) Audio out via the car dock.
If those are not issues, try it out.
I seen AOKP is available for us AT&T Galaxy S3 users. I came close to downloading it but want to wait until it has more time to work out the bugs. My question is to those who do have or used it- Do you like AOKP as a daily driver for our GS3? Or do you think the few bugs are not that bad?
AOKP was and is my favorite ROM on the Galaxy Nexus. So I want it bad but stability and working features are important. And when I had AOKP on my GN is worked amazing.
I am on the 7-16-2012 it is a ICS ROM and I have bin using it since it can out it is a great every day ROM. I am having no problems and the battery life is great. The JB AOKP is in my opinion not ready for every day use the Bluetooth is not working with audio and they have not got all the options in ROM manager.

Waiting is the best
My suggestion is to go to particular ROM thread and read. And frustration will follow. I don't think any of custom ROMs yet ready to replace stock ROM. The only incentive at this point is to have JellyBean before Samsung releases their JB update - for bragging rights mostly. However not all pieces of JB source are released by Google and it will take time to develop something once source released.
I see alot of people mentioning that about the Jelly Bean Roms. I am seeing a lot mention the Ice Cream Sandwich roms being really good though.
Thanks everyone for the heads up. I even seen someone who is enjoying the Jelly Bean Rom. Being that I really want stability and all my features working I am going to try some of the Ice Cream Sandwich Roms. Let those hold me over until the Jelly Bean Roms get polished.
On a side note. I already enjoy my LTE GS3 using it stock with Nova launcher. I do have it rooted.

Koodo V3 has been the best for me as it is pretty much as close to stock ICS as you are going to get. People also rave about Jedi Knight and Jedi Mind Trick although I have not personally tried the latter two. All three are from the same great developer and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
