Does Media Link Work on JB? - HTC One X

Hi,
I was thinking to buy an HTC Media Link to make things easier to view my One-X on my HD TV. Can anyone confirm if it is currently working with the recent test builds of JB? also how does it connect to the One-X is it a direct wifi connection P2P or does both devices have to connect to my home router to enable them to send/receive content? The reason that i'm asking is to know if the HTC Media link will work in places that i have no Router connection available, such as in some hotel rooms or other places?
Thanx for all your advices....

It is connected through the home Wifi through the router so I think it will not work in a hotel?
I got one free fro htc back in June but rarely use it cos the lag is too much. Not sure about the current firmware though nv tried since June.

Whilst I'm not at liberty to discuss in detail the latest JB trial software for the One X - I will say that the Media Link HD has been reported as being very buggy whilst attempting to use it...'nuff said!

My One X is on ARHD JB leak, since putting this one it's no longer able to stream to the Media Link. I'm guessing as this is a leaked rom base HTC haven't yet released an updated firmware for the Media Link.
Having said that, I was less than impressed with the performance of my Media Link anyway. Hopefully the combination of new firmware and JB will improve things!

I guess you just have to wait for the proper JB release to enjoy some propper support from HTC as well

Well a long time ago I purchased just the MHL adaptor so that I could play content from my phone to hdtv. You have to also power the adaptor and of course your phone is then tried to the tv via the HDMI lead. But I also found that the phone battery votes flat while playing any content so the adaptor and power supply are not providing enough power to the phone. I was using the original 1A wall charger that came with my One-X.
But it does work well to allow me to use Skype on my hdtv and using my car screen mount to hold and position my phone for the back hi res camera.

I have a Media Link HD and it works flawlessly, no lag at all. 3 finger swipe up and it starts, 3 finger swipe down and it stops.
Specifically, the Media Link HD will work in both ways you mention. If there is no WiFi router available to connect through your One X will create an Ad-Hoc connection and stream to it that way. I've found that the JB leaks do not yet support the Media Link HD as upon connection, it notifies that there is a firmware update. Then when it tries to download this update it fails.

Thanx and so how does the media link connect to the router? Is it automatic or do you have to first configure it from a pc or directly from the One-X?
For my example if I'm in a hotel which has WiFi but via a web page interface to log in how would that work or in this case would the direct link between One-X and media link be the way to go?

It seems to set up an automatic ad hoc connection first, then the phone sends the infrastructure connection details to the media link through the ad hoc network. Both devices then drop the ad hoc network and connect to the infrastructure. So it is transparent. However I doubt it would work with a router webpage login.
If you are in a hotel with a webpage login then the media link would likely not gain internet access. However, it doesn't need that, so long as it can talk to the phone through the network. Saying that, if I were to configure a hotel access point, I would certainly set it up to block wireless inter-client communication at the router (to stop users hacking each others' computers). So in short it could work but most likely will be blocked.
Note that if the phone can't connect through infrastructure, it will automatically connect through an ad hoc connection. During this time the phone pretends to be connected to the infrastructure, so you may not even notice except that Internet access is lost.

[Q] Wi-Fi Direct

Hi.
I would like to know how I use Wi-Fi Direct on my One X to transfer files to another One X or an Asus Transformer Prime.
I manage to connect the devices through Wi-Fi Direct Settings, but I can't find a way to send files to the receiving device.
When I use file managers like Astro and select to send a file, I only get options like Bluetooth, Dropbox, Facebook, etc. but no Wi-Fi Direct option.
How do I do?
Best Regards
Jorge
+1 wtf is wifi direct?

WiFi Direct - it is only WiFi connection between devices. You need to use some applications or services like FTP, NFS, Samba, etc. to transfer files over this connection.
Better read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_model to understand communication system.

Sadly WiFi direct and NFC are so poorly implemented in today's devices.. I have barely been able to transfer anything between devices.
for now it's a P.O.S me too can't even use the feature for HTC one X sux
Htc online chat support told me that you can only receive files atm with this but they might do an update later to enable it to send files too. Wtf!
Try this:
Connect devices via WiFi Direct.
Pair via Bluetooth.
Try sending via Bluetooth.
From what I have read, connection is made via Bluetooth but the actual data transfer should happen via WiFi.

Any progress? I've got a connection going between my Asus TF201 transformer Prime and the One X but after that, nothing. Connection drops after short time. I've read that mp3's on a working connection are sent almost instantly. 800 mb takes 60 sec. Would be great to have this working?

wi-fi direct
Hi all.
Acc to the below info After the both android device's wi-fi direct is enabled, configured and connected each other, a file transfer is supposed to be done share/ via wi-fi.
But when I select a file and wanted to share, it does not appear "via wi-fi" option under share ..
Why ?
"Step VI: After the connection is successful, you should try to transfer a file through Wi-Fi Direct, for this either you go to your file manager or gallery. Choose any file and click on ‘share via’ and choose ‘Wi-Fi’. It will directly start sending the selected file to the connected device."
Wifi Shoot app on Google Play store uses Wifi Direct
I found an app on google play store and apparently its the only app which utilizes the wifi direct capabilities.
The app name is "Wifi Shoot (beta)" You can checkout the demo video in the app page for how to use this app.
The app still in beta. I was able to send a file using this app over with wifi direct from my HTC One X to my friend's Galaxy Note. However i was unable to do vice versa. that is, i was unable to receive files from other device to my HTC One X. I used this app on my HTC One X and my friend's HTC One X and tried for hours to send and receive files but without any success. Only success was, i was able to send file to my friends' Galaxy Note. I believe on HTC devices, the implantation of wifi direct itself is not stable.
I searched for many apps in play store but found this app to be the one which actually uses the wifi direct technology. Looking forward for the stable version.

if you are still interested in options of sharing thru wi-fi direct, i developed an android app "PeerDeviceNet" which supports sharing over wi-fi direct and traditional wi-fi net. it runs android2.2+ and has been on google play for a while. you can share web pages, contact, photos, videos and other docs with it. unfortunately i cannot post the market link here (too new to post external links). you can find all the links at my web site: peerdevicenet.net ; or search for it at google play.

Hi I am using app called Software data transfer, managed to send files direct so far between GSi9000, galaxy tab 10.1. N7000, Galaxy beam and HOX.
So far its the only app for me that is simple to use without the hassle of setting up.. however although its free on google playstore, it seems a bit over laden with useless permissions. Till another app comes along i think currently its the only app to transfer file via wifi direct with different devices. Hope this helps cheers

yes, it requires other device have peerdevicenet installed because it run in peer-peer style.
it is a free app at google play:

it works with wifi, and wifi direct (so you don't need external wifi net).

hi...
I know it's a ish old thread but the WiFi Shoot app it was commented before (I'm the developer) just went to v1.0 and from all my tests it's running very stable.
It works integrating on the Share menu of the apps (gallery, file manager), and the thing you launch from the launcher it's to receive only.

there will always be issues between different hardwares and some manufacturers that implement WiFi direct poorly, but....
I've tested between SGS3, GNote, GNexus, SGS2, TF201, N7, ..... but I've never had a HTC One X to test... so if you guys want to give a shoot and let me know.
JB 4.1.1 -.-
HI guys, im just wondering...is this problem solved on JB because mine hox wont send any file via wifi direct...im running latest maximus rom...regards
wifi direct working like a charm in my htc one x...!!
After jelly bean update ,WiFi direct works perfect ....installed an app 'WiFi direct,' from app store nd file transfer through WiFi direct is easier...

DLNA issues

I have a PS3 and Apple TV. So far, I have been unable to get the built-in DLNA on my One X to see either. I installed iMediashare, which has always worked on my other android phones and it doesn't seem to work correctly.
At this point, I can't seem to push any media from my phone to other devices.
Anyone know of an app that works, or am I doing something wrong?
Update: I have tried pretty much every DNLA app on the Play Store and none of them work. Most of them lock up my wifi and I have to reset the connection to get internet working again. WTF? Why do the simplest things (voice dialing, DNLA, multitasking) not work on this phone?

Yeah, I got an e-mail from the Developer. Turns out, it was something wrong with their servers. It's odd, because my Nexus was working fine at the time the One X wasn't. It's working fine for me now, too.

Don't know if any asker still needs this, but here goes. I was also quite stumped as to how to stream media from HOX to PS3.
After quite extensive searching high and low on the interjacks, I come to these conclusions/solutions:
1. HTC purposely make it difficult/impossible to simply share media with DLNA clients JUST TO SELL their MediaLink HD.
2. For those who wants to stream their media (videos/pics/music), especially to Playstation 3 (PS3 - [for search engines]) simply download the free SKIFTA from Google Play. Instructions are straight forward, I was playing silly videos and HD trailers off my phone in no time.
Press that little thanks button if this has been helpful Thanks.
Found this thread through a search.
How is browsing other devices' content via DNLA done on the One X?
Mine is stock, S720E, CID_001 running Android 4.0.4.
From the gallery, whether viewing a picture or a movie, More > Select player shows my TV (connected to the same SSID as the One X). Hit it and it the content on my TV screen.
However from the TV, I am unable to browse the One X, like I am able to browse my SIII (GT_I9300).
Could anyone help please?

You can't use it in the same way. It's a DLNA device so you can use it via a media player to playback specific files but you won't be able to do screen mirroring to project the phone itself on to another display. Even if there were a specific APK it wouldn't work without HTC's framework installed. And AllShare's for receving content, not projecting it. AllShare Cast can project media and Samsung has a hub you can buy to use it but it sounds like it plays files and doesn't mirror the phone.

You can use the HTC Media Link HD with any Android device using the Wi-Fi Media App in the Playstore, link is here:

It won´t let you mirror things but it does let you playback content, you don´t need the HTC Framework (don´t listen to Barry)

Hello, I bought the HTC Media Link HD and tried to use it with my Galaxy Nexus phone (Android 4.1.1) , but it do not recognize the HTC Media Link HD.
I have tested also with Galaxy S & S II (Android 4.0.3) , Galaxy Tab (Android 3). I tried apps from Google Play like: Skifta, Homedia, Wi-Fi Media, iMedia, Media Link.
No one succeeded to connect to HTC Media Link HD.:crying:
When I found somebody with HTC One S phone, it recognized the HTC Media Link HD just like expected with 3 fingers up slide and worked just fine.
How it is supposed to be setup to be recognizable by other Android devices?
Thanks in advance.

Yes,
The connection need to be not direct like in case of HTC phones, but via the router (wi-fi).
1. Connect to the Media Link device with browser using the its own Wi-Fi and IP written on the TV display.
2. Go to settings and setup you home Wi-Fi access like int other computers, phones, tablets. Device will change its own IP address to one used in home network.
3. Connect Android Phone to home Wi-Fi network and use Skifta. Now it is recognized.

Do not forget the password. I saw in documentation with mine it is by default 1234567890 but that never worked for me. I had to search quite a bit to find you have to add HTC at the end, in caps to make the password work. If you get asked for a password on an HTC One, like the m7 the password line that comes up will have a number dialer entry pad and will not accept alpha characters. You do not have to have a password with an eligible HTC phone, just has to be configured with the media link to work. To connect with a laptop though......... 1234567890HTC will do it. At least with mine.

HTC One Media Link

Hi so I got the free HD Media Link that AT&T was offering with pre-order of the phone. Is there anyone else having issues trying to have it connect? I have read that you have to turn of your 5GHz on the wifi router in order of the Media Link to work, which it did when I reset my router, then it went back to trying to connect as a HotSpot. ATT charges allot for this option the HotSpot, so anyone with suggestions on how to get the media link to stay connected through the router? Thank you for your help in the matter,

I am using the Media Link that I bought separately for $80. at the Sprint store I think it was the only one in the town where I live as I had to call around a bunch of stores for it. I have a wireless G router and it connects pretty good. I stream video, watch tv, play video games, etc.. Some time it lags a little. On my Sprint HTC One if it disconnects abruptly for some reason you see a error message about the hot spot too - but I think thats normal because its sending a wireless transmission from the phone to media link and I think it uses part of hot spot or something. Did you swipe the screen with three fingers upward to connect to media link. Or on my phone if you go into android settings there is a separate media link button to click and connect to media link. Hope this helps maybe.

It's an issue with AT&T and tethering at the moment. HTC says they are working on a fix.. only option right now is to root and flash the tethering or hotspot mod available in the one AT&T development section in xda.

Yeah I have followed the directions and even reset the box a few times. When I do however shut off the 5GHz and reboot the router I can login, I have only been able to do this twice now. Each time I try and do the swipe it tries to connect then switches to HotSpot. I believe it is an issue with ATT which upsets me because it was one of the reasons I got the HTC One was the media link but if the ad was used to trick me into purchasing the HTC One then I am going to make sure that ATT knows about this and I will be more than happy to vent my frustrations with them... Thanks for the reply.

I started getting the tethering error too. Evidently, HTC is aware of a problem. I saw some things on the web that said try turning the airplane mode on. I tried that and it did not work. However, I got to thinking well it was working fine - what changed. I turned my bluetooth on and off again and that it started working. Try connecting with bluetooth turn on. Once you connected turn off bluetooth. I did this and now I don't have any problems again. I think there is something wrong with bluetooth interfering with media link.

Just ordered Miracast + AirPlay dongle

UPDATED WITH REVIEW:
In-depth review below, will update in a few days to cover DLNA support and revisit Miracast experience while at home (currently discussing the experience at a university)
The PTV Miracast adapter works as advertised, but isn’t perfect. Miracast functionality works like a charm, but with the same slight delay in most other adapters out there. AirPlay is listed as a feature, but don’t expect it to work. Upon opening the package, I was greeted with a matte black, rubbery dongle that was slightly larger than a USB thumb-drive. Under the cap is the HDMI plug, on the other end are two micro USB ports -- one for power and one to connect a storage drive. On one side of the USB end is a tiny button that doesn’t clearly indicate it’s purpose, but is meant to switch between Miracast connectivity and AirFun mode (see below).
Using this adapter isn’t as intuitive as I would like it to be, but it does work. When you initially plug the device into the HDMI port of the TV and USB power, you’re greeted with the AirFun screen, which is green and black. This screen displays the dongle’s IP address, a url containing the IP address and ending with “/remote,” and what network it’s connecting to. When no network is available, it turns itself into it’s own wireless network to allow you to connect. Visiting http://ipaddress/remote takes you to a web-based remote for the dongle to set it up and control the DLNA features of the device. When connecting to this address from an Android device, it prompts you to download the app for this same control. The app is called AirFun and CORRECTION: is in the Play Store - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.realtek.airfun.client. The app appears to be stored on the dongle itself also. Don't worry much about this app after you've adjusted the settings to your liking. Use another DLNA app for your media, MirrorOP if you wish to take advantage of that, and wait on AirPlay.
Connecting the dongle to wifi is easy, but the first step isn’t apparent. You must first connect your phone or tablet to the wifi hotspot the dongle creates. At this time, you will not have an internet connection and will only be able to connect to the Miracast dongle. The next step is to go to the url containing the ip address that is displayed on your TV or use the app to connect to the device. In the settings, you can choose the wireless network you want to use and enter the password. Once this is completed, the Miracast adapter will disconnect it’s own hotspot, disconnect your phone or tablet from the device, and connect to the wireless network you chose. At this point, you should connect to the same wireless network in order to pair with the device again.
I must share a mistake I had made in hopes of those reading this can learn from it. Do not, under any circumstances, connect to an open wireless network in which you need to visit a web browser to sign in or click and accept button. The Miracast adapter can’t choose to accept a license or enter login information. I did this at the university I work for and found that I could no longer access the dongle for anything relying on wifi, including accessing the settings. I had attempted to disconnect and reconnect, reset, unplug and plug in again the device. As I had already set it to connect to the wifi that requires authentication in a browser, it automatically connected to it every time. I was forced to bring this in a location in which that wireless network was unaccessible so that I could connect directly to the device’s own hotspot and connect it to another network.
Once the wireless connection has been connected to both the PTV dongle and your phone or tablet, you can begin using MirrorOP, DLNA, or AirPlay. Please note that Miracast is connected using different steps which I will discuss later. No wireless connection is needed for Miracast and if this is the sole purpose of using this device, you can ignore the steps above and continue to the section specifically about Miracast. After connecting to wifi, I tested MirrorOP and found that connecting to this worked without issue. The screen mirrored as any other MirrorOP connection does. MirrorOP is an AirPlay-like connection except that it requires a rooted Android device or jailbroken iOS device to connect. It mirrors the screen like AirPlay to a device on the same wireless network. The MirrorOP app needs to be installed on your device to make the connection. Though screen mirroring works, MirrorOP does not support audio mirroring -- the audio will continue to play through your phone or tablet.
Connecting to AirPlay was very disappointing. I attempted to connect to AirPlay both at the university I work at and at home using an iPad on iOS7. In each attempt to connect, the iPad recognized the Miracast dongle as an AirPlay device. When selecting to connect to it, it appeared to work initially. Choosing a photo to display on the AirPlay device, however, proved nothing worked. The photo would not project to the TV. The same applied for video as well, but I have not yet tested audio. When enabling screen mirroring in the AirPlay settings, I was also disappointed by the results. The notification bar turned blue, the device appeared to be trying to connect for mirroring, then the AirPlay settings reset, turning off the connection to the dongle. No matter how many times I tried, it wouldn’t work. It may be my lack of knowledge with iOS and how to properly connect the devices, it could be an incompatibility with iOS7, or it could just be a falsely advertised feature. I don’t know the answer to this. EDITED: If I am correct in that Visiontech makes this device, their website (in a couple of posts below) indicates AirPlay is a feature still in development and will be added in a future update.
EDITED: DLNA works as expected. I did have some buffering/stuttering, but that was likely due to my new ISP which is a reduction in speed. Any DLNA/UPNP app or device will recognize this dongle and send content to it. Since DLNA plays the content locally, I haven't narrowed down which files are supported. I have not had any issue with mp4, which should be expected. In order to use DLNA, this dongle needs to be in AirFun mode, but you don't need to use the AirFun app to use it. This app just gives basic functionality and allows you to setup the dongle.
The most important feature in which I purchased this for is the Miracast functionality. I tested this in two different environments and found two different user experiences. I tested this at the university I work for and at home (which I am still testing more at home and will update this with more information later). Before you can connect to Miracast, you must press the button on the side of the dongle twice to switch to the wireless HDMI mode. At the university, the experience was such that I don’t feel it would be beneficial for the classroom. Connecting took several attempts before it was successful. Upon a successful connection, most of the time my device’s wireless connection was disconnected and reverted to cellular data. The screen mirroring worked as it should, however with a fraction of a second in latency. Audio transmitted to the TV flawlessly as well. At times, especially during heavy activity, the TV would fall further behind than initial connection and the picture would display large groups of poorly rendered blocks. This was further exaggerated when I reconnected to wifi for some reason. It may be due to the large number of wireless devices on a college campus causing interference that caused these issues, but I don’t know enough about networking to make an educated guess to this. I did notice turning the HTC One’s Power Saver mode off improved the experience, but only slightly.
EDITED: At home, I get mixed results. Most of the time, it works flawlessly via Miracast. There are times that the picture lags behind and when it starts to, it can be tens of seconds behind. It eventually catches up, especially if you stop your activity to allow it to catch up. With that said, I streamed a few movies from Plex to my HTC One which was Miracasting to the PTV dongle. I did not see any moments in any attempt in which the mirroring had fallen out of sync with my phone. I did, however, find a few movies that would not play sound over Miracast. I am not sure if this is due to bandwidth, licensing/authentication/DRM, or something else entirely. I need to investigate the files more in depth to determine if it's the stream. I tried to play a game with this, but I honestly found myself looking at my phone more than the TV to see where I was touching on screen. I didn't notice any delay here either, but I wasn't playing a complex game either. I ought to try this using a game controller and see how it performs this way. I also discovered that Google Play Music and Google Play Movies & TV are blocked over Miracast. They will not play, even locally stored music tracks. Play Movies tells me this feature is not supported, while Play Music will either display "Cannot play track" or disconnect the Miracast connection completely. Upon contacting Google with regard to this, they responded indicating that this is normal behavior and suggested I buy a Chromecast. I shouldn't have to buy another product to use Google services that already work on my device.
Being a Sprint customer and experiencing network issues regularly on their cellular data, I have installed an app that floats network download and upload speeds on my screen so that I can determine if anything isn’t working due to my internet connection. I noticed that while connected through Miracast, my upload speeds were incredibly high. This is what I would expect from a Miracast connection considering 1080p video encoded as h.264 mp4 video and up to 5.1 surround sound audio is being sent from my phone to the dongle over wifi direct. For anyone curious about the network activity, my upload speeds floated between 7-9 Mbps while connected to Miracast. Download speeds remained normal for the activity I was performing.
I also wanted to note that the PTV Miracast adapter gets about as hot as the HTC One can during high activity. It can be uncomfortable to touch. The included manual warns about this and promises that it will not affect performance. I am still concerned of the heat, despite the manual’s acknowledgement of this issue. Hopefully the heat doesn’t affect this device’s lifespan. I hope that this in-depth review has been helpful to all those who have read it. I would recommend this product to others, but I would warn others of the shortcomings this dongle has as well. The $50 I paid for this was a fair price considering the average price for Miracast today. Others at the same or higher price don’t offer MirrorOP or AirPlay -- I’m hoping a firmware update down the road fixes the AirPlay problems.
Tested with:
MirrorOP - Nexus 7 (2012) on Android 4.3
AirPlay - iPad 2 (two different iPads) running iOS7
Miracast - HTC One on Android 4.3 Sense 5
Full HD 1080P WiFi Display Dongle HDMI Wireless PTV Support DLNA / Miracast

I just received this dongle. Haven't had time to play with it yet, but will very very soon. I did manage to test whether or not the HTC One would connect and on 4.3 Sense 5, it connects and detects it. It's not as intuitive as I would hope, but I'll elaborate later. iPad connectivity via AirPlay will be tested soon too.

Well, I plan on writing an in depth review later and putting I on the Amazon page too. But some initial thoughts:
So far, miracast works great! WiFi turns off while connecting. Not sure if this is normal or not. Performance is also worse with wifi on, in fact it can be very unusable with wifi on. But this was tested at work so far, home wifi might be a different experience.
If you plan to use any of the other features, I don't recommend setting it up on a wifi that needs to be authenticated - as in if you need to open a website, get a splash screen, and either sign in or accept a license agreement. This is not possible to do on this device and it locked me out of the dongle because it was connected to this kind of network and I had no way to change it.
You download the app to control this device directly from the dongle via ip address. You use the app for everything besides miracast - Dlna, configuration, etc.
I'll update op with full, in depth review after I spend some time with it.

EDIT: testing at home not disconnect of wifi upon connection. iPad on iOS 7 will see the dongle as an airplay device, but can't connect to it for mirroring, not sure what else to do with it. More testing to come.
Another note for everyone before I write my in-depth review... Airplay doesn't work. The iPad will see the dongle as an Airplay device, but won't connect to it. Tried screen mirroring and just picture sharing, neither worked. Could be something to do with iOS 7 or something.

Updated OP with in-depth review. Need to revisit two sections after I play with it some more. Will update in a few days.
Not having much success at home either. It works for a little bit, then has problems like I experienced at the university. Still planning to update with more info. But I think I found the company that makes this - the vendor has left this information out and the packaging doesn't include this info either. The specs, description, features, and pictures are all identical.

In case anyone wants to investigate further.
Wow! this review is very helpful man. thanks for this review. Now I think I want one :cyclops:

No problem. Shop around though, I think if it supported 5ghz wifi like miracast is supposed to, this would have been a better experience. I just recently discovered that.

HI,
2 weeks ago I got this unit http://www.win-star.com/eshop/goods.php?id=159
I choice it because of the integrated LAN, and simplified functionality (no android, no need to play with air mouse).
It prove to need it own mouse to switch between different modes, as there no any button on unit itself(only hidden reset)
During first star the Unit create own wifi network so I connect to it my samsung galaxy s4 active. However I was unable to test miracast mode not connect.
Then I switch to "bridge to wireless" trying to connect WS-AV601D1 to my existing network but unsuccessfully. I switch back manually to "AP only" mode, however since then I can not see any more networks from the device itself nor to access WIFI settings(its gray/unaccessible). I can not see anymore the open WiFi network that the device should make. I reset it several times to default settings but it going to "Bridge to WiFi" mode instead of "AP only". WiFi light not switching on at all, and wifi module is unaccessible. WiFi module fail about 10 min after first start.
Note that the unit support only WEP encryption, and have no settings for connection to not broadcasted /hidden SSID. So practically I could not connect it WiFi to my existing network even if it works(unless broadcast SSID and change to WEP)!!!
Further I could test only airplay(android airfun appk) from my s4 active and notebook, and screen mirroring from my notebook only(having the device connected to my network via LAN cable). Using the software provided.
Most important for me was the 1080p video played from notebook to TV quality. So the quality was bad, looks like xvid 700MB rip(or more like x264, baseline, ultra fast, 1000bit/s encoding). Dont understand me wrong quality was fair for animation movies of my son, despite of HDMI playback of same video you can not see each hear and dimple of actors face). There was some sound distortion too, however i dint paly with sound settings of the unit. Upload speed during playback was 2-3mbit, while normal speed within my network is 6-7mbit. Note that the Unit is LAN connected to my Asus RT-N66U.
I already send my back to China and waiting for refund.
So I could not test miracast! Does it provide better video quality when mirroring 1080p video What unit you could recommend
I purchased the iview Mira Cast dongle and it pretty much works the same. I did notice a slight lag in playing videos and sometimes it falls behind. The dlna feature works really well but with no remote you have to push everything from the One or browsing your dlna server with another app. I use skifta.
