the game data files are stored in /sdcard/data/com.rockstar.maxpayne or something like that, just backup those game files.

You can try Titanium Backup if your phone is rooted, it works really good.
You can find it in Play Store.

Can't install angry birds

I deleted angry birds main files I guess from my SD card to clear memory so it stopped working. So I used titanium backup to uninstall and I tried to re install it and it said application can't install so then I used root explorer and deleted everything that had angry and bird in it and still can't get it to install again. That's my favorite game.
Can someone please help me.

Umm just download it from the market, it still free lol
does this really belong in the android dev forum?
gl fixing your issue
why is this here and not in Q&a
Reboot your phone and try the installation after that.
Also, this is should be in the Q&A section or maybe the apps/themes section.
I did put in q&a a week ago and no one helped.
And I've been tryin to install it from the market and downloading the apk. I've done restated my phone bout 15 times in.a week. I can install everything else but angry birds encore and androzip. These was the only 3files I deleted and every since then I haven't been able to install these only 3

It probably just didn't uninstall correctly and is still there. Your probably going to have to run a command in ADB but not sure what you would run, I'd assume it be something like you have to do to install the Google apps. And if that doesn't work just wipe.
I haven't tried the ADB part. But I am rooted I have wiped everything, switched between Ava, Fresh and CM6 still no go. I used the search using root explorer but its sayin its not finding anything anymore. Its only the 3 apps that I called myself cleaning. I have no problem with any other app.. I really have tried everything but the ADB because Im not that good with it and I wouldn't kno the first place to search.
I'm bored and dying without my angry birds. Lol.

make sure that Titanium Backup completely deleted the APP, i had to delete it then restart the phone then delete it again and restart a second time for it to completely delete the APP from the phone and allow me to install it
Thread moved to Q&A.
if you use titanium back up do you have a back up of angry birds if so and you cant get it anyother way you have tried restoring the back up? that may be what youa re doing now but figured thats about all i could add at this point
Try unmounting your SD card then install.
Just a shot in the dark here but have you wiped your ext partition?

I forgot where I saw it but there's a file in the .androidsecure folder in ur sd card u have to delete. After I did that it downloaded fine. Mount ur fone as a hard drive, go into the folder and the file should be the last one and starts with "sm". Delete it then try it again. Also, if ur having issues with an app stuck on downloading, log into gtalk. Hope this helps

I didn't wipe my ext partition because I never set the partition up and I was nervous it was goin to erase my SD card.
I looked for the androidsecure but when I went into it there was nothin in it to delete.
How is this even possible to not be able to install only 3 apps?

Finally figured out my problem 1 minute ago. I couldn't live without angry birds. Lol.
But it seems I wasn't the only one having this problem so with a lil herb I sat down and Googled my tail off and I found out there was a file called smdl2tmp1.asec in the android.security folder I had to delete. And after that I was able to install my apps again. Don't kno exactly wat that file is but it worked for me. And I've been lookin for the answer for weeks. Now problem solved.

try to unmount your sd card, and reinstall, it worked for my milestone.. good luck..
I cannot install androzip and angry birds(exactly the condition as #6, lol) in restoring through titanium backup & installing via the Market too in my milestone
unmounting sd card worked for me.

My data file is empty
Wait, are you looking for the actual .apk files themselves?
Use Titanium Backup, go to the Backup/Restore, then press the Menu button, then tap Batch, the tap Run next to all User Apps and Data plus System Apps (it's called something like that). Let it finish, take out the SD card, send in the phone, put the sd card back and restore system data/apps.

With root is the simplest way to do it. Root, then unroot. DooMLoRD has a simple way in the Android Development section.

Where are saved games stored?

Hello,
How are you?
I had a problem with my nexus and I cannot use titanium backup.
It cannot gain root access, and so I am going to reset my phone and root it again. The thing is that there are some games I would like to keep the progress, such as angry birds space, hill climb racing, cut the rope.
Strangely, root explorer still works, so I need to know what is the file that keeps the progress and where is it located.
Any help please?
Thanks.
Cheers

Some apps put their data or saved games on the sd card that you can access them from your pc etc. If its not there its under /data/data/xyz and the apk is under /data/app.
One question:
You lost root and you wanna reset your phone so why? Flash cwm and the supersu.zip on top of it and you have your root access back without the factory reset.

[Q] Backing Up Applicatoin Data

Before installing the new update, I want to backup some application data. For example the Simpsons game. just copy the folder found in /data/data/(com.ea.simpsonsgamename(sp?)
Then after installing update, reinstalling game, just copy that folder back?

I'd recommend Titanium Backup Pro. It's 5 bucks and you will find immense use for it. You just click Batch and it does all the work. You update and the restore and you will find this works with no headache or data loss.
You can use the free version of titanium backup, but you won't be able to batch restore.

Forgot about that, D'oh! I have the paid version too.
Just be sure to restore app and app data only when changing roms. Restoring system data can cause issues.

the free version of titanium allows batch instore but you have to individually click "install" when the application pops up. a little annoying if you have lots of apps but worth it if you dont wanna spend money

[Q] How to Backup Game Saves and Other Datas in "Non-Rooted" S3

Hi guys,
My device lags too much these days, especially after latest 4.3 OTA update. Soon I will perform a factory reset and don't want to lose my game saves and most of other app configurations. Last time I checked, it was possible to backup such files only for rooted phones via Titanium Backup. But my device is not rooted and I'm not planning to root it in the near future.
These are some of the games I want to backup: Subway Surfers, Hill Climb Racing, CSR Racing, Fruit Ninja, NFS Most Wanted etc...
And these are the apps: WhatsApp, AndFTP, Cool Reader etc...
So, what do you experts suggest me to backup my datas?
Is "Helium" good and trustable enough OR is there any better app for non-rooted devices?
Is "Move to SD card" feature (came with Android 4.3) trustable?
Thanks in advance for the ideas
Come on people, I need your knowledge. Please feel free to share your ideas.

i dont use helium or do i trust it
2nd move-to sd card works, 90% it will save your game data and everything and you're safe no worries
OR back up on your pc, there are programs you can use or pull game data to pc
dropbox/Google drive can be usefull for backups

Thanks a lot for the ideas :good:
Could you please give me a bit more detail about performing a backup by the help of pc? Is there a program to pull the game data to pc?
I believe that you still need root access before you can backup all of your game data for this phone.

Thank you, I will wait for it. I googled but all I found is Kies, which is really useless.
Dude just root your phone. You'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches. There are some methods to backup without root but in all honesty, it'll much easier (and maybe safer) to just root your phone and use titanium backup.

I agree with Florad77. Yes you can use adb, and probably some other method, but the process is going to be a lot more complicated than if you just root the phone.

i agree with you guys backing up with root is easier
try this link http://transgenius.net/tutorials/backup-restore-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
cf-auto root make it easier to root the S3 or manual with CWM
Its a pretty simple affair to backup data from self installed apps, anything that is not stored on the internal or external SD is all stored in the /data folder of your device. Any non root backup app has access to this folder, or any file explorer for that matter. You can save a few steps of downloading, installing, and executing an app and just copy/paste the /data folder to one of the sd's (this is basically all a backup app is going to do, with the added possibility of compression and md5 checksums), jack in to a pc, copy/paste to desired location.
