My data file is empty
Wait, are you looking for the actual .apk files themselves?
Use Titanium Backup, go to the Backup/Restore, then press the Menu button, then tap Batch, the tap Run next to all User Apps and Data plus System Apps (it's called something like that). Let it finish, take out the SD card, send in the phone, put the sd card back and restore system data/apps.

With root is the simplest way to do it. Root, then unroot. DooMLoRD has a simple way in the Android Development section.

Root your phone and use the back up feature of Titanium Backup or Super Backup.

It won't unroot it at all. You're safe to delete whatever you want to from your sd card. I suggest copying the sd card to your computer, just so you have a good backup. Then delete whatever you want. That way you have everything backed up, just in case you ever remember something you needed, you'll have it.

Aren't there a couple files you need in there to be able to boot into recovery? Other than those you can delete whatever you desire. Of course some apps and rom features may work incorrectly if you delete their files. Generally the rom and apps will replace these at their next start up if they are vital.

Actually no, since when you load your recovery, it loads it to the phone, not from the sdcard, so you could go into recovery without and sdcard even, you just won't be able to do anything. And yes, as he said, if you have apps/pic backgrounds, ect that are set to read from the sdcard and you delete them you'll get errors, ect.
was wondering the same thing. thx for the info

Well, hi everyone!
The thing is that I'd like to know if there is a way to install multiple apps in one hit (or maybe a couple) because I use Titanium back up which works grate its very useful, but when you wipe and flash and have a few apps, it gets kind of annoying that it prompt you before installing every app, at first seems like no biggie but when you do it weekly (or more) is no longer the same feeling.
And you can create that file to install Titanium Back Up from the recovery, is there a way to do that with other apps, or perhaps putting the apk files (from the TBU folder ) on a zip file, will it install the apks from CWR? Even if is just the app without the data, I could restore that with TB. I know that the files on the update.zip that TB create isn't an apk, but there's gotta be a way to do this.
Any thoughts?

The pro version of TiB doesn't prompt you for each app, it batches the whole process
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
In tibu hit your phones menu key then "batch". I think there is also a batch apk installer program for windows floating around somewhere Im sure you could find it with a search.
That's what the pro version is for. Batch restore with no clicking. That's how they get you
Its totally worth a few $ to not have to click through every restore.
Thanks will get pro then, thou still would be good to install from the CWR, you know, flash the ROM flash the apps, ready to go.
But thanks for the quick replay.

Even if you only flash a few ROMs here and there, the Pro version is easily worth the money! Just hit one button and go drink a beer while it installs lol.
I am running eg22 th and kernel 2.6.35.7 on my epic. It just restarts and the screen stay black. The keys light up. But nothing on the screen. I have try to flash different things and with cw purple it says error

Sounds like you will need to Odin in a stock or prerooted ROM and start again if CWM has errors. It could be a bad sd card too. You can put it in a computer, copy everything, format it in the phone in CWM and then put it back in the computer and restore everything.

so if the card is bad?would that mean the photos would be error to right?

Not necessarily. There just may be some bad areas or memory reads on it. Copy everything to your computer and view your photos. They are probably fine. They are in the DCIM folder.

I like to use titanium backup, some people prefer my backup root. They both work good. If you aren't sure if an app is safe to remove, try freezing it with titanium for a while and see if it causes any issues before fully uninstalling. Do a full backup of all apps first so you can restore them in the future easily.

how do i freeze apps
I think you need titanium backup pro to freeze. I can't remember if my backup root allows you to freeze or not. Just click on an app in titaium and you should see the freeze option.

If you mean the phone storage, get rid of Asphalt. Then go into manage applications and send all to USB storage (or sd card) that can be sent. You can then sort them by size and decide if you want to nuke some that won't go the your sd card. Tango refused to go and was 20MB...bye bye!
thanks for all that. so how can i free up my system rom and internal?
Go to settings>applications>manage applications and go to every listing and move every app that is not greyed out to sd/usb storage. Then what won't move decide if it is worth keeing. For example Tango was 20MB and would not move and is a POS so uninstall it goes.

I use Titanium Backup.
I believe there is a batch option to Restore Missing Apps, so as long as you backed them up they should be restorable. I restore my apps and data regularly when I am testing things. Just don't restore system apps/data, that generally doesn't end well.

Well, I would guess that either they didn't get backed up, or if they were then the backup file was moved so Titanium can't see it. Either of those possible?

I don't know... Or must I reinstall the apk ? It taking up my whole SD space even though I can't see the games and apps...
Titanium will reinstall the .apk if it was backed up, but if you have moved the apps to the SD card then I don't believe Titanium can back them up properly. I keep all my apps on the internal memory but I know that is not possible with some phones due to low internal memory or if you have a lot of apps. In that case you would need to move them back from the SD to the internal memory, then back them up, then move them back to the SD.
Try reinstalling the apk, maybe it will be able to relink to the SD.

As I don't have this phone I can only go by what I've read but this thread makes it sound like apps disappearing after moving to sdcard is a common problem

I think it got wipe... But why it still taking up much space ?
If your referring to the 4gb used and 3.4gb free at the bottom of your screen shot that number is the total space used by everything on your sd card not just apps. I'm guessing you have otjerthings on.your sd card ie music, pics, rom, backups so that total refers to everything on your sd card

I would try and install a couple apps manually since you said titanium back up did not work. Reboot and see if they are there if not I would take a look at the thread I linked to in my prior post. If you don't have anything on your sd card like I mentioned and are still missing 4gb of space then you may need to format your sd card. This will erase everything on your card including partitions so back up anything of importance to your pc first.

Hi guys,
My device lags too much these days, especially after latest 4.3 OTA update. Soon I will perform a factory reset and don't want to lose my game saves and most of other app configurations. Last time I checked, it was possible to backup such files only for rooted phones via Titanium Backup. But my device is not rooted and I'm not planning to root it in the near future.
These are some of the games I want to backup: Subway Surfers, Hill Climb Racing, CSR Racing, Fruit Ninja, NFS Most Wanted etc...
And these are the apps: WhatsApp, AndFTP, Cool Reader etc...
So, what do you experts suggest me to backup my datas?
Is "Helium" good and trustable enough OR is there any better app for non-rooted devices?
Is "Move to SD card" feature (came with Android 4.3) trustable?
Thanks in advance for the ideas

i dont use helium or do i trust it
2nd move-to sd card works, 90% it will save your game data and everything and you're safe no worries
OR back up on your pc, there are programs you can use or pull game data to pc
dropbox/Google drive can be usefull for backups

Could you please give me a bit more detail about performing a backup by the help of pc? Is there a program to pull the game data to pc?
I believe that you still need root access before you can backup all of your game data for this phone.

Dude just root your phone. You'll save yourself a lot of time and headaches. There are some methods to backup without root but in all honesty, it'll much easier (and maybe safer) to just root your phone and use titanium backup.

I agree with Florad77. Yes you can use adb, and probably some other method, but the process is going to be a lot more complicated than if you just root the phone.

i agree with you guys backing up with root is easier
try this link http://transgenius.net/tutorials/backup-restore-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
cf-auto root make it easier to root the S3 or manual with CWM
Its a pretty simple affair to backup data from self installed apps, anything that is not stored on the internal or external SD is all stored in the /data folder of your device. Any non root backup app has access to this folder, or any file explorer for that matter. You can save a few steps of downloading, installing, and executing an app and just copy/paste the /data folder to one of the sd's (this is basically all a backup app is going to do, with the added possibility of compression and md5 checksums), jack in to a pc, copy/paste to desired location.
