Is it in any way possible to flash a custom kern for this device?
Sent with my Sony Xperia S using a little bit of KA magic.
Short answer: yes.
Long answer: yes, look in the development section, you will find some kernels there, they have overclock.

I am actually fairly pleased with the stock rom, after root the r800x is so much better with the crap gone. I am actually hoping that there is a stock kernel availble with CWM and able to OC. thanks in advance
dumb question?

stock kernel with o/c isn't a dumb question. But wanting CWM too is
I think it would be easier just to make an o/c module.
the only reason I asked because before this I had a htc incredible and I had a rom that was stock and I could oc it too, that phone had such bad battery life when I got this one I rooted/unlocked it and saw that overall dev is still in the early stages and I was happy with the phones performance so I thought maybe I would ask.
Stock kernel with CWM is possible (I think, 70%). Just please send me CDMA kernel.sin

Well, you see that I'm busy with unlocking phones. I'm modifying touchscreen driver too and it's delaying the release.

Your thread is now in Q&A after being moved yesterday from the Development section where you first posted it.. Root if ya need don't if ya don't.
yes , you should
whats the easiest way if there is one any help would be appreciated
ZergRush exploit by doomlord.
Look in dev section for easy tool.
One click.

Definitly worth it.
Just use the ZergExploit like explained before, make sure you flash the FXP kernel (look up how to put a boot.img) and then put the new FXP047 image (7.2.0 at the time of writing this).
I had the same reluctance at the start as you, it seems complicated, and you actually need more research. Make sure you read the "noob" posts on how to root, they actually give you all the infos you need when put together

It's normal to hesitate but not when you get the correct steps to do it in a clean and harmless method.
Try this tutorial that worked fine for me.

Hello guys,
I recently bought my Arc S, and today i Installed CM 7.0.2 105
I tried it and it's nice, kinda, calendar look is awful comparing to original overall some things better, some not - personal point of view.
I was wondering is there a way to reset everything back as it was (some how to would be nice)?
Or If i wanted to have stock based functions (FM, HDMI), but without bloatware and with slightly better battery life, what would you recommend me?
Also, since i installed CM will I be able to download official ICS when SE release it?
Thank you for answering these newbies questions

DooMKernel and a stock based ROM like Acronium or XperiaMOD.
Or completely stock with root, removed bloatware and V6 Supercharger.

Yes, if you relock your BL, you can update it when it's out with PCC/SEUS.
To remove bloatware check my sig for the tutorial

Maybe you should first read some tutorials/stickies.
*.ftf files are for Flashtool.

If i knew a thing or two about this i wouldn't be bothered to ask a question i would read a tut or find my way around forum...
Anyhow i flashed it using this site:
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-arc-s-lt18/debranding-flash
Iv made a previous thread asking a question, but i just want to get this over and done with
im currently on CM7.2 baseband .56 (Gingerbread) and im wanting to go to Arconium 4.0 ICS, now this is where my question comes into play
in order for me to flash arconium it says i need to flash bb72 i cant be bothered right now upgrading to stock ICS 4.0.4 which i cant do through pcc cause i have a custom rom
can i do this... flash the kernel > flash arconium 4.0 ICS > then flash bb72
but if i do that will i still be on bb56 on arconium ICS and would that lead me to bootloops? this is a question im taking seriously cause if i get bootloops i cannot be f*cked going back to stock
EDIT: can i use bb56 on arconium 4.0 ICS and if so could i just flash bb72 after i have installed arconium?

go away mate, FOUFC
you could edit your old thread..
But yes everything shuold work like you said. Dont forget to flash the libs for the baseband
libs? sorry i havn't started on bb's yet
Every baseband patch need their own libs.. Look at the threads from there you get the baseband there should be the libs too
i really have no idea what u r talking about
You have the baseband file which you have to flash with flash tool.
But there are more files you need. These are called "libs" or libraries
theyre in a flashable zip which you flash through recovery.
Look at this thread. There are the ftf files for the flashtool and for the bb 72 the libs.
The libs for over baseband you can get by another thread.
But you dont have to update the baseband for ics. If everything is working dont flash the neweset.
I have bad wifi issues after i flashed bb72 and cant fix them even after flashing my old bb again

I'm assuming he's swearing but I must admit that's a new one. Haven't heard FOUFC before. Care to explain what exactly that stands for?
Plus, just writing thread closed doesn't really close a thread till a Mod does it.

No one think to tell him to flash the full ftf then just install arconium? A lot less hassle.

If u want to learn it the selftaught way - begin with customize and tweak stock ICS / GB ROM with gaining access to the build.prop file and all system folder parts of your phone
