Im using the Elegant Blue Them on CNA. However, I want to change the softkeys. My understanding is that the ThemeChooser pulls the assets from the themes APK and not from system. How can I keep the theme, but put different softkeys? I'm trying to use the text softkeys, as it is right now, only the search one changes. I assume this is because the Elegant Blue theme doesn't account for a search key in its assets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried using FreshFace, aHome, and dxTop, but there are just some features I don't want and only a few I do want.
Is there any way to assign ONLY the icon package from a theme? There's an aHome HTC Hero Theme that has the most spectacular icons, but I don't want the additional screens and the drawer change.
This has to be possible somehow! Thanks in advance for any info.
to use just the icons would require repackaging every apk on your phone that those icons correspond to. you over-write the stock icons with the new icons. possible, but not practical. this is what a theme update does, but its done for you by the theme creator, they already repacked it with the new images/icons. of course they dont repack everything, only certain ones they want.
maybe you can edit the theme file, remove all the other stuff n only keep the apks you want. then resign it and update it.
Bettercut?
Open home gives you the options of Skin / Icon, so i'm pretty sure you can assign any icon theme to any skin theme.
Can anyone tell me where to change the menu font color? For example on settings and app settings.
It's a long and convoluted process that would essential force you to create your own theme. Thus, I suggest checking out the theme/app section to see if there's something that better suites your needs
Yeah, there is no built-in option for it.
I already have a theme that I have been putting together but need to know how to change the font color. Should meantion that I am deodexed also.

There is a stickie on top of Themes which explains changing colors. It has to do with changing hex codes.
Do you BONSAI?
I've been playing around with the theme engine on CM9 nightlies and want to tweak one of the existing theme apks from the market for my own use, specifically the purple holo. I've been trying to integrate yellow into it for a schnazy purple/yellow theme starting with the dialer.
So here's the snag: I have no errors nor problems decompiling the theme apk. I go into the drawable file(s) (hdpi, mdpi and I believe xhdpi) and copy the dialer icons and proceed to edit them in gimp, changing them to yellow. I save them as .pngs. and then drop them back into their respected drawable folders.
Now I recompile, again, no errors or problems. Sign the apk and then push it to my phone. It installs just fine. HOWEVER when I go to switch to the theme via the integrated theme engine I states that it was not compiled properly and to contact the author.
So what am I missing? Do I actually need to edit an XML or something? I never changed any names or locations of any of the files. I'm new to themeing and trying to started on personal projects, maybe one day create my own from scratch. Any help from all you masters out there would be appreciated.

Edited to include a market link of the theme I'm trying to alter:

I would like the blue icons instead of the white ones. I can't find an option to change the color like in AOKP, am I missing it? I did find a couple theme chooser themes that change them to blue, but it only changed home-recent-menu. I am using back-menu-home-recent-search. Any help is appreciated.
Anybody?

I know you can do it in SlimBean, Its under "Interface->Navigation Bar". Hopefully that helps you narrow it down in CM10.
Thank you for your reply, I had the option with AOKP too, I wish CM wouldn't have left it out. I was hoping it would be something relatively simple such as a hex code I need to change in a file somewhere via Root Explorer. When searching all I could find was recommendations for different themes that change navbar, but none of them have the soft keys I require.

there are some JB mods for the navbar and also in AOKP settings, search in xda, especially in android development.

Try using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps
And with it you could try coloring the navbar per every app (including the home screen) you want. Not exactly what you want, but may be this could work out for you.
There are LOTS of Themes that have Blue Navigation menus. Try a theme called "Blue Ray of Lightning" - or Alien Glow - Material Blue - "Dark Light Power" - or a theme called "Dark Neon Technology Circuit A" there are several by themer "ECHO" and more by themer "Bejing Julihal Technology"..also a theme called Space Voyager and many more. You just have to look for them.
Most of these are paid themes - but I have found a few that are free - or have been free when specials were happening. You really have to look for them - search thru themes by color - BLUE - and then just use the trial to try them Trial and Error and you will find one you like.
I hope that helps - good luck.
