Hey guys,
I just got my S3 and installed AOKP no problem. Then as part of my purchased apps, I downloaded and installed Franco Kernel installer. I had not flashed the kernel previously but tried to autoflash using the application. It flashed and now the phone won't boot. If I take out the battery and turn it on, the Samsung logo flashes and then turns off.
Please help!!!
I am JellyBean Build 4 of AOKP
Also, if I remove the battery and plug the phone into the computer, a battery with a recycle type arrow shows up ...
On app description its for the international version. Never flash anything unless you get it here or are directed to it from here. And always be sure its for our T999.
If you're getting any response there may be hope for it. Try to boot into download mode. Hold power + volume down + home. Then when prompted press volume up.
Now plug into computer and use Odin to flash the full stock FW. And pray it works!
If you can't get download mode or recovery you may need repair...

Okay, into download mode and it is downloading. Do I wait or use Odin through the toolkit? And if I use the toolkit, how do I turn on USB debugging without being able to get into the phone settings?
Odin to stock Rom and start over. No weird kernels this time.

I don't think so.
Volume Up + Home + Power
It flashes Samsung with some blue writing in the top left then gives the full Samsung Galaxy SIII logo ... then nothing.
Any other thoughts??? Please???
Keep holding the volume and home button but let go of the power button

Then go into download mod and flash .tar stock rooted rom via odin.
Is that an option in the ToolKit? I'm not seeing it ...

I'll have to do that tomorrow ... no microSD card in my possession but that would work. Thanks for the suggestion.
Is there anything I can do tonight to fix it?
You can do the Odin to stock method. If you want to keep root, download the root66 version from MrRobinsons thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
Instructions for Odin should be there as well.
I would recommend doing this first anyways. When you tried the international kernel it likely flashed to the wrong partition. This is probably your best bet for getting everything back onto correct partitions. (If it flashed the sbl partition, flashing a rom in recovery won't fix it, odin should).
Basically you download the FW to your computer, (odin too) and after booting to download mode, start Odin then connect to computer. You should see it show a Com port in top left area. Then click on pda and browse to the FW you downloaded (you may have to unzip it, should be a .tar or .tar.md5 file).
Make sure PDA is checked as well as auto reboot and F.reset time. Then start flash.
Use the instructions in MrRobinsons thread in case I forgot something. I just wanted to give you a quick rundown.

If your phone has power, you can download and flash whatever you need to directly, without a usb cable. If your phone won't power on, you can't really do anything with it. It needs to have some power to go into download mode, as far as I know.

Yeah, so just download the stock ROM and recovery directly to your phone instead. Flash the stock ROM, then flash over the custom recovery.

your phone need to be turned off in order to enter download mode.
if I misunderstood you situation and you tried with your phone turned off, can you enter recovery mode?
did you install clockwork mod recovery after rooting your phone?
I have a rogers aswell, hold volume up plus power plus home. Then you can plug your cord in, put whatever in Odin then make sure stuff like f reset and what you need are checked off or not checked off then click start.
If it doesn't work, getting into download mode you did something wrong before, I was able to do it after, so should you

Go in recovery and restore your phone to whenever your phone worked and don't reflash the last thing you flashed. Probably a bad kernel.
If you did not make a backup. Boot in download mode and use Odin to flash a stock rom you may also need to flash a stock kernel depending of what ROM you flash.

I think those are for the original build LE6 though.
Use odin to get your recovery installed but uncheck auto reboot.
When done unplug and hold power untill the screen turns off. Immediately let go of power and then press and hold Power + Volume up + Home. (Be quick)
When you see blue text flash on top of screen release power but keep holding other two until you get into recovery. (You may not have to keep holding home and vol, but its always wirked for me)
Now flash your SuperSU/Superuser and reboot.
Once booted delete/rename these files:
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
This will stop stock recovery from being rewritten.
Now using goo or rom manager reinstall recovery again if you so choose.
Hope that helps.

I was running cyanogenmod 9 on my phone when I looked into rom manager, I realized that there was a new version available (6.0.2.7) so I installed it via rom manager. A few days later i found that a stable version of cyanogenmod 10 was available so i put the zip file on my phone and followed the instructions to flash it. I did a darkside superwipe and everything. Then i went to boot my phone and it was stuck on the boot animation for 30 minutes, i scrolled down the page to find a comment from a person having the same issue, he said that to fix it he just pulled the battery out of his phone, put it back in and booted into recovery, did a factory reset, cache wipe and fixed permissions, then booted and it worked. I decided to try, so I booted recovery and tried to do a factory reset, clockworkmod froze. I tried it again, and it froze again. I then tried to clear the cache, clockworkmod froze. I tried to do a darkside superwipe, clockworkmod froze. No matter what I try to install clockworkmod will freeze. Has anybody on here had this problem, or know how to fix it? Or maybe know how to downgrade clockworkmod without being able to actually use the phone?
First off, don't use the Superwipe script on anything other than CWM 5.0.X. It'll cause a boot loop and ruin your recovery. I think your best bet is to boot into download mode and flash a recovery using Odin.

Have you ever tried to reset your phone through kies? If not give it a try. Open kies on your computer then go to tools and click on upgrade and initialize. It will ask you to enter your device model, then the s/n number and just follow the instructions from kies. Let me know if that works for you

If you can still get back to CWM recovery mode, you can use adb from a PC to reboot it into download by
Code:
adb shell
su
reboot download
After that you should be able to use Odin to push anything you need to (or Kies *should* work when it's in download mode, it's been a while since I've used it for anything)

Yes just figured out to get my phone in download you have to just hold the down volume button, then put in the usb cable. Rather then holding both up and down.
Just to let you you don't need kies to recognize your device to do that.

If you can get to download, you can try Odin to push a new recovery image. If you get CWM back up and running, you can use various adb spells and have a pretty good chance to get your phone back into working condition.

Figured out that the screen I was seeing is still download mode, and odin still recognizes my phone. Found on the website that if I try to flash the stock firmware via odin, it should unbrick/ unroot the phone. When I tried to flash through odin it got stuck on the boot.img process and wont load any further. I tried kies again and still had the same problem.

Thanks

To use Odin:
Usb in the back of computer (#1 on a laptop)
Reboot computer
Phone in download mode (volume down+ home+ power)
Run Odin as administrator
Use a known good cable
After flashing back to stock, when you get hung up on boot:
Pull battery, wait 2 minutes, reinsert
Boot into recovery with button combo, factory reset, reboot.
