Hi guys I 1st joined the forum when I had my oG EVO. I liked that everyone here was like a big family if it wasn't for this site I wouldn't know half the things I know today. But 2 days ago I purchased a epic touch 4g but the problem is I was flashed to boost on my EVO so its just sitting in my draw I did how ever rooted it and played around with it, but the reason I'm making this tread is because I can't install cdma work shop 2.7 on my pc I paid for my EVO to get flashed but I do have my donor can someone please help me i'd really appreciate it guys thanks

Hi, it's my first post here, and it's only because I think I did ALOT of research, but didn't find the info I needed.
THE STORY:
I just bought a used Evo Shift, and been researching on how to flash it to MetroPCS, to have Talk and Text (every store I went to don't flash phones, even if Metro has them listed to do so- either they are lazy or it is for a reason)
You guys already have an awesome guide on how to configure the phone to have web and mms, so I won't be asking about that.
THE PROBLEM:
while researching, I came across some info, that the evo (and evo shift) don't support the MetroPCS band in NY. However, some people claimed that you could use the phone (roaming via verizon) here if you set it up in an area, that has Metro bands, which the EVO does support.
THE QUESTIONS:
1. Will my EVO Shift work in NY? (Brooklyn, NY-11208)
2. Will I manage to get the EVO Shift Metro service, while not going out of NY to do it and where do I get the PRL and NV files needed for a flash? (If it's illegal to post about these, hit me up with a PM)

For now i'm loving the phone- It's an awesome upgrade from a Nokia N97 mini. Super Smooth. I'm not new to getting in the roots of phones (both hardware and software) but CDMA is just something i'm a total NOOB at (still working on in- putting lots of hours into researching on forums).

Oh, sorry. Didn't notice i'm not in the Shift forum.
But anyways- these phone are too similar, so maby someone will turn up with some usefull info.
MODS: if you can, please transfer this thread to EVO SHIFT forum, I don't want to double post.
Trust me I know I'm in the wrong section to ask this but when I went over to the Droid 2 section it was like a ghost town over there... Everyone ignores everybody's questions n there's really nothing going on as far as what I'm looking for.
I used to be on Verizon, cut the contract n had my Droid 2 flashed to metropcs where everythings working....kinda. I gave it to my mom back in Feb. When I got my EVO bc her phone was like 4 years old n holding on w. Duct tape. Since then its been updated to gingerbread n there are new prls for metro n i was wondering if any of the awesome devs here could help me update her phone bc right now its pulling under 90kbps. I tried looking in the d2 section but all questions concerning metro pcs have been ignored for months n saw no use even trying in there. Thanks in advance n I'm willing to accept the flames if I can get this issue resolved

hey folks i put my og epic on boost mobile about 10 months ago and well today it broke but it gives me a perfect excuse to come to the epic touch so im going to buy one tonight , but after doing a good amount of reading today i gotta say im a little bit nervous about it , i have heard of all sorts of problems like data and apn settings not sticking and going back to their originals every time you restart the phone to a thread i read that said someone rooted their phone and was no longer able to send mms , ive been through it all with the og epic and if its really just the same process as the old one then i should be fine but i am trying to find out some people who have there epic touch on boost who are active in the forums who i can ask for assistance if i need it , what im basically going for is rooted and deodexed with maddoggins lockscreens (love that guy) and if i can get to that point i can start putting themes together

well i got the phone :-D its already rooted so hopefully thats a good thing its running 2.3.6 el29 looks like stock kernel , i was really hoping for feedback but here goes ...

CORRECTION ... i am experiencing shenanigans since the sanyo 6760 usb drivers will not install on a 64 bit OS and all 3 computers here are 64 bit ... i guess i will have to do this tomorrow so i would still like to say that before i get started any experience from anyone thats done this would be greatly appriciated !!!
I don't think your being ignored just havent seen boost stuff around these parts for a while, although I think I saw a how to a while back for boost users may just do a search and hope for the best gl!

so i went and used a friends computer and now im kinda burnt ... this is whats happening
as of now im getting 3g very speroadically and when i try to make a call i get " your
account could not be validated " and it wont let me send or recive mms messages im really kinda stressed out because i have a really cool phone that until i get this done right is basically broke , im stuck using my donor phone during the day and it just sucks any help would be really appriciated
i really wish i wasnt talking to myself here ... ugh anyways after looking around a bit i realised that EL is a later build so im going to odin back to eg30 and try again ... update soon
not many people trying to do this with the epic touch so you may have to try to look at some other avenues to get this going. Best of luck to you

sorry it been awhile since I been on but try this,this was for the og epic,steps should be the same since samsung is manufacturer
I did the og epic method with no success I ended up having to pay someone to get the flash to stick ... Grrrr

Cunny that you say that you used the og epic method to flash cause i did the same n it works.... U can also pull the files from you od epic n use them on your epic touch using cdmaworkshop n qpst

I just bought a Sprint Epic 4g touch from a girl who says she got it just 2 months ago new as a gift. I believe her as the phone is flawless and in the box which looks new. Im with Cricket and want to flash the phone to it but after reading these forums I'm not so sure. What is a leaking kernel? Do I need to worry about having a expensive paper weight if I try to flash this phone? ...Anyone help a newb out?.
