I've noticed on every rom there is a 2 - 3 second delay between when I press the power button and when the screen comes on. I understand that the phone is sleeping and I refuse to use soft locker. I'm more asking if whether I should get my phone looked at or if this is a normal thing for this phone.

It's a normal thing with this phone.. I notice a slight delay but nothing drastic
-TeaM VeNuM Like A Boss
Definitely normal, it seems better without tw but maybe that's just me.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I have noticed that tw will increase the delay. Thanks for replying, I was paranoid that it was my phone acting up and I'm glad to know that it's a natural occurrence.

Just to cover the bases.....
When you go to Menu> Settings> Sound Settings, you have all the Vibrate options selected properly?
Yeah i do
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Mine does it sometimes to. It just gives the inc character lol. From what I can remember it's done it on every rom except sky raider and stock lol.

How old is your Inc? Mine is about 7 months old now and I am running into some issues every now and then where the vibration just feels dead. It also makes a weird clicking sound when it boots up. It may be a ROM that you are using or your vibe motor is just kicking the bucket.
I really dont know i bought it off ebay with a bad esn. But it was perect mint condition with the box manuals and evrything... Im running the Incredirom 2.2 and in fact the vibration does stop working because i often press the volume down button to put it into vibration mode and it does not vibrate when i put it in vibration mode. U know how is suppose to vibrate when u set it in vibration mode, it sometimes does not vibrate.

It's stable and has some Cm features, it's pretty good.

If you're not opposed to upgrading, I recommend Pure Speed V7. It's a port from the evo shift also its 2.3.3. Your incredible's memory will decrease a little but it is solid and I have no issues with it on mine. But if your vibration still doesnt work, you have a busted motor.
Mine does this also. I have no idea why. I usually have haptic feedback off but when I do have it on it fades out every now and then.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
I read a while back that your haptic feedback motor can basically be overloaded by heavy activity, and that giving your phone a firm shake when it's being unresponsive will correct the problem. it's always worked for me.
Didnt like Sky Raider, drastically slowed down my phone. Returned to stock 2.2. And yeah i think my motor is busted.
Lol and i tried shaking it and it works but i will look like an idiot shaking my phone every 5 minutes on the train or bus.

Just wanted to say, my Vibration has been REVIVED!! Ever since I flashed Cyanogenmod 7 Nightly #150 I believe.
I just discovered the Quick Glance function where you wave your hand over an off screen and the screen turns on to show you some notifications.
I love it.
Only problem is that it's super slow on my phone. Average screen on time is about 5 seconds so it's much easier and faster to just hit a button to turn on the phone.
Is this function slow on everyone's phone? I am using apex launcher and swift key if it matters.

I've noticed it can be reasonably responsive after a reboot. But right now at my desk, its taking about 2 seconds to come on.
Mine takes several seconds too. I turned it off for that reason plus it uses the proximity sensor at all times. Go into a dark room and look at the phone, you'll notice a dull red glow from the prox sensor. I didn't like what that must be doing to my battery especially since the sensors don't show up in the battery stats so that you can see exactly how much it's using.
Yep, it's really slow for me too. Half the time I wonder if I swiped the sensor properly or not. Turned it off.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Slow for me as well.....also worried about what its going to do for battery life too.

I see the same battery life with it on or off. 5-6 hours screen on time depending on what I'm doing and what's running in the back ground. And yes mine takes 2 seconds to come on too which doesn't bother me at all.

Maybe you not waving your hand right. I know that sound stupid but after a while playing with it when I first got the phone it took a while for me to learn how to actually get it to work, you wave your hand a distance away from the screen. If you do it to close it won't come on.

It is. But I like the lil cool factor it has when people see me use it as opposed to the home button. When I use home button I get Samsung is trying to get as similar to Apple as possible. But I do like the home button lol
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
My quick glance also gets slower after a while, but once I restart the phone, it becomes quite fast again (within 1 second).

So I was listening to music on my phone with slim bean and it fell behind the bed and when I found it all it does is say Samsung and vibrate in a consistent pattern. Also if I remove the battery and put it back in it vibrates as soon as battery/charger is connected. Does this mean it somehow got in bootloader mode? If so is their a way to get it out without my PC? I tried getting into twrp but. No avail.

No problem. I knew there was something on it but didn't know the details. People have also had a similar problem with Pandora. Don't know if that's what you were listening to, but there seems there's a problem with Pandora and the latest roms.

I was listening to music from my SD card. I got it to boot
But I didn't have the similar in and when I rebooted it it did the same thing. Also got it to load the tarp splash and it rebooted then and I can see the screen flicker like it was booting and the power button was pressed. Looks like I'm going to have to send it off. Hope I can get it replaced for free if not I'm gonna look at a different phone.

Swipe your hand slowly over the sensor and the phone will show time, missed calls, messages, and battery percentage. I think it's a pretty tight feature. Was just wondering how many people actually knew about it and use it.

It's a nice feature but I wonder how much battery it will drain? If you think about it, in order for it to respond when you put your hand over the sensor, it means the sensor is always going to be on. That means something is running all the time.

I do use it. the first few days I had the Note II I kept wondering why is it turning on by itself. there was no ad about it like the other touchwiz features of the S III on youtube. then I found lots of touchwiz features on settings. LOTS.

Good point about battery life, but battery life on this device is so good at least for me. I'm willing to to sacrifice what ever drain it does use tho. I love this freakin phone.

Just checked, this feature keeps the proximity sensor always on when the screen is off. To test, turn the phone of in a dark room, you should see a red glow in the sensor.

Even laying the phone flat on my side table it seems to work sometimes. This feature is good but seems to be hit and miss.

I tried using it for a while and noticed it had noticeably more battery drain for me. I guess YMMV though.

I also experienced a noticable battery drain after enabling the feature. Then when I turned my screen on it would not sleep. Rebooted and it works fine.

Its a really nice feature for when ur walkimg around ur office or house and just wanna see if u have any missed txt, but i did read something online where it drained the battery super fast. So i shut the feature off and i literally got 5hrs more out of the battery, wasn't worrying through out the work day if it was gonna die.

used it for about an hour, was pretty meh. Good concept, but bad implementation. I have my phone on my desk and it was always turning on and off. But when I needed it to to show me quick glance data, it worked about 50% of the time.
The only thing from that menu I love is the Palm Swype to screen capture.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I have been testing the quick glance feature and noticed that it works best in low light conditions, especially in darkness..
I sleep with my phone on my bed (I use it as my alarm clock) and with the lights out quick glance works for me every time. I have gotten to like it because the screen is much easier on the eyes, at night (dimmer), than hitting the power button to check the time/notifications. I disable it during the day though.
The Palm swipe for a screen shot is awesome. It is a much faster way to take a screen shot than having to take out and use the S-Pen.. I wish the screen didn't turn white while swiping though. Not a big deal I just think the loud click upon taking the shot is enough to let the user know the shot had been taken.
I used it when I got my Note in November but as mentioned, it does cause a very noticeable battery drain.

my favorite on there too. I used the quick glance the first few days then just got tired of it. I prefer the smart alert, it vibrates when I go pick it up if I have a missed call or message.

What is this Touchwiz lag on stock Galaxy devices people keep mentioning?
I don't have any lag, if you don't like it flash aosp rom. If there are touchwiz specific apps features then you have to way out the pros and cons
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Can you give an example? Could be user error in some cases. touchwiz has been great for me and haven't experienced this lag that you have mentioned.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Well, I just got my Note II yesterday and haven't noticed a problem. I heard about it mainly on the S4 though. But some people always criticize TW as laggy. I guess they mean the occassional force close or little glitch or bug?
The lag issue, I believe, most user's are referring to is the "phone wake up lag"
When you wake the phone after it has been off for a few seconds it doesn't instantly turn on.There is a lag..
When you hit your power button to turn on and access your smart phone you would expect it to be instantaneous. It is not.
I don't expect anything to be instantaneous. I think people over do it sometimes.

I actually expect my phone to know in about to hit the power button and turn on by itself.
Seriously though I think that is the lag people talk about and it can be pretty annoying at times. That's why I love the zero wake lag mod!
