Hello
i am wondering if there is any update delay depending when did you buy the phone...
i mean, those who have bought the phone earlier will get the update before those who bought it later?
and i am stricly speaking of NOT ROOTED, no custom ROM devices!
PS: i bought it 3 week ago and still nothing...
Updates are usually first pushed to unbranded devices by region i.e Europe, Asia etc... and then to the carriers so they can add there bloat ware and from there to the customer.
Jelly Bean has not yet been officially realised yet, it should come towards the end of this month
You can find out more by searching XDA and Google!

yeah OK, but other forums said it is rolling ou this october... we are almost at the half of October and i am getting nervous...
anyway! is ther any possibility of a delay depending on the time of bought (or the day the device was produced)???
PS: BTW i have an unbranded device
Updates are not depending on the date you bought the device. It's only depends on the region of your phone.
Please .... google and/or HTC please do NOT announce any update anymore in advance !!! It floods the forum with a lot of questions and insinuations !!! I'm really going nuts everytime i open xda to see another question how do i update my hboot, how do i flash JB !

Im in london england with an unbranded desire z never rooted...still no 2.3.3 gingerbread update even though its been released on vodafone here and other central european countries...im not really obsessed with htc sense so im not bothered about losing that if i was to root my phone because CM7 looks pretty great...
So my question is (1) what the thoughts on the official gingerbread update whatever country you in?
2) Is it worth waiting for or should i just think about rooting my phone?
Some say the unbranded desire z update might reach UK handsets end of summer.
Dont want to wait that long for a terrible update since there is no root for it at the moment.
(never rooted a phone but willing to take the risk if means better performance)
Thanks.
Virtuous 2.0 is stock gingerbread with many performance enhancements. It's a great rom. It's very smooth and stable.
I think there is temp root exploit for the official GB release. But rooting froyo is a lot simpler and the method is tried and tested. My recommendation is to do it. You won't be disappointed.
If you want to root this is the best guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision

I read around that rom advised by cj but i thought i would wait till the 31st since HTC says an offical update is coming end of june. If that doesn't come through i'll have to brave it out and root.
End of the month and no unbranded update from HTC, though Vodafone have theirs and 3 have been sending out unbranded updates to their customers... Sigh @ HTC.

Hi All,
Hopefully a quickie...
I'm a noob with a new HOX on O2, was on Samsung previously. Have seen mention of an update, 1.28.xxx.
If I'm on O2, will I have to wait for O2 to roll out a modified update, or will I get it direct from HTC?
Thx.
You get it from o2, assuming you have an o2 branded handset

unfortunately that is the downside of having a branded One X mate.. i am in the same boat. then when i thought of unlocking the bootloader and updating my phone through custom roms i find out that you lose your warranty if you do that..so either way we are ****ed....so wait for the stupid network companies to release the stupid updates with their crappy **** on top of the updates as well
hey (noob here) i would really like to update to the latest FW but as o2 havent released it yet , i would have to root/unlock to be able to get the latest version?
Anyone know what time scale or when orange release the software updates that HTC have rolled out to unlocked, unbranded phones ? Many thanks

normally if HTC rolls out an update the GSM versions which are the unbranded ones and unlock would get it straight away. So say they rolled out a new update today for those phones for your one i would say a few days to a couple of weeks the most mate.
Like my one. branded on 3. 1.28 update was released like two weeks ago and only like a few days i updated. so it varies my friend. best bet were to have a look is on here to see if others on the same network have it..do not forget it depends on regions as well
thanks for that,I'm new to these forums so will do some searching,I did try asking orange themselves but they seemed very reluctant to give a date, thanks again

no worries mate. same with my carrier. they do not know what goes on most of the time..so best always keep an eye here on the forum here or just check your phone like once a week
I'm guessing that they won't release anything over the long weekend, so if it doesn't drop today we're looking at the end of next week? (I'm on Voda and can live without it, but the flickering is driving me crazy...)
(I know the numbers in the title don't accord with Voda/3 - I'm should have just entitled it 1.29, but wanted to make it clear that I'm referring to .11 and not .07)
Im not expecting Voda to release it any time soon. Bloody Vodafone.

Yeah true, I just hate the fact that everyone has to wait on their respective network provider to test and release the updates on their own software before its released to the public.
I expect that the reports of people 'losing' storage post the update may be slowing down the certification.
I've no problem with them testing updates (it's them who'd have to deal with customers with broken phones) but the lack of information is nuts - they should learn from the Windows update saga that MS had to manage with the upgrade to Mango.
Childishly pressing check for updates around every 10 mins myself - don't know about you guys...
No update in Hong Kong for unbranded devices. We got 1.28 at exactly the same time as UK, 1.29 came very similar, but the second 1.29 hasn't arrived. So don't feel too bad.

I'm guessing you have an unbranded handset from Phones4U or someone, right?
Branded Vodafone Spain here, also waiting to 1.29 I don't mind waiting if they are testing it, but please give us some information!!
I don't have any screen flicker, but I've lost 10gb of space!, I know I can reformat my sd space but it seems pointless until I get the update.
On 3 UK The 1,29 is in testing and they haven't a clue when it's going to be released. Hopefully the end of the week. If not I'm ranting at Three support again.

Re: Just Vodafone UK and 3 left for 1.29.401.11
Vodafone UK and 3 won't get 1.29.401.11 if they are branded, will they? So I'm guessing the OP was talking about the equivalent update?
So was I. Oh sorry, HK versions don't affect you and you're so narrow minded that you can't even see that it's not relevent for an unbranded regional update to come after branded ones?
You're obviously poster of the year with your 1 thanks. Well done.

Looks like later next week now for us, which will mean we get it five weeks after non-branded phones and two weeks after 02 (at best.) Not great, is it Vodafone?
I think, Vodafone had been fast, with the 1.28.
But i still don't understand, why they didn't realese the 1.29 yet.

never call vodafone CS and ask when the latest firmware upgrade is due...I've spoken to 3 different "tech guys" and all of them have said the same infuriating thing. "The HTC One X is already on the latest version of Android". Thats not what i asked you moron.
Cant complain too much as i got a 50% discount on my upgrade, so i suppose im getting 50% of the level of customer service shouldve paid the extra money instead and gone to phones4u

I'm pretty happy with Voda and can live without .11 for a while, although it would be nice to get rid of the flickering. It isn't the end of the world, but it is surprising that they are taking such a long time to sort things and doesn't fill me with confidence.
My HTC is unbranded. Still on 1.28 so the title is a big fat lie.

What's your full version number? I thought all unbranded phones had at least the first 1.29 OTA sent out.
This is getting beyond a joke, now. Voda are generally pretty quick off the blocks, but we are now entering the sixth week since this update emerged and there is still nothing from them. Is this how it's going to be from now on?

I've just searched on Google. I've found a site where they have the same question as you.
Somebody replied to it and said that the update will come the second or third week of September.

As far as I known reading in some forums for releasing the OTA update is depended on regional carrier also, there is some regions sill cannot get update, pls see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448456&page=4.

You may are right a mf HTC rep told that one x 4.2.2 update might not even come to India , no update is showing that will it even get or not the update as it depends . I called again and another rep told it depends on higher authority people.. as many disputes happen and they need to be solved then an update is given in certain country/region and some more blsht . HTC already is poor in India I am so pissed feel like blowing HTC with a bazooka .
Man. You can't be serious. It's ridiculous if it's true. I wouldn't buy HTC phone again.

I am so pissed already on this, have even fought with htc and htc india on fb and they are just doing a "job" there nothing else with same automated messages, they will tell in the end they have escalated this ahead for u to relax, but u will keep hoping that something will happen now but never will . You can call toll free htc customer care number, they don't have any idea for it . There was a video posted of a foreign news channel that peter chou is to be blamed for htc soon going to be bankrupt . A message during interview : " When HTC posted its worst-ever earnings last quarter as profit plummeted a shocking 98%, all eyes turned to chief executive Peter Chou. “If HTC fails one more time, then they’ll be under pressure to replace the CEO,” one industry watcher said. As the company’s struggles continue, The Wall Street Journal spoke to CEO Peter Chou about his future with the company, and he insisted he is still the right man for the job. ”I know you guys want to ask, will I quit,” Chou said. “There are a lot of rumors that say I would quit, but I never said that. I’m not going to find another job.” Separately, the Journal did some digging through HTC’s newly filed annual report and found that pay for the company’s top executives has been slashed in half. "
Damn htc trend is total wrong!
Making cheap faulty phones and making huge hype on ads, specs, etc before release so people just buy impatiently like its a lot worth it but they are not, and selling expensively > customers facing lot of issues > some people will still keep and give profit to htc, some people will want replacement > then htc may solve issues in later manufactured pieces or not their wish > dead slow in updates specially in 2nd largest populated country india lol ? why htc then? i say never! > The world's worst service centres as htc india people themselves tell and give service centre people full support to treat customers badly only to make money . And in end they still face loss because they are doing bad! Sic!
You are absolutely right buddy. I feel the same about service of HTC in India. My next phone would be Nexus. If HTC is not going to update HOX then I am going to root it.
4.3 rolling out in Taiwan for HTC one. I guess HTC will release 4.3 instead of 4.2.2 . basically Europe update had few WiFi bugs ,I thought HTC is working on that & then will roll out update to India. god knows what they're planning. hope they give update before they go bankrupt. lol

see what I feel we will 100% get it, but htc india irritates us by lieing 3 different days I called, i got 3 different people, telling 3 different stories regarding the update, they don't know anything and are just puppets playing with emotions, cause if they don't know then should not comment anything but they still do which is poor indianism ! so we just gotta bully them!

So you have to "BULLY" them?! I think that is poor indianism!
Do you think a local HTC service center would have any details regarding a global update schedule? There's a difference between support, service and information. And you called THREE times?!?!? Wasn't once enough to understand that they don't have a clue?!
Anyways I've seen a lot of posts where people are saying that they're fed up with HTC. I am too. But there's nothing that we can do about it (of course other than buy a new phone or buy the HTC one )! Best option is to wait patiently (as you said, you feel it'll be here 100%).
HTC One X+, HTC Butterfly, all getting india updates.
And from what I hear the new update is not that promising anyways! WiFi issues, battery issues, etc. It may very well be that they're fixing these issues before rolling them out to locations that they haven't released the updates to yet (this is a guess and you shouldn't invest emotions into the statement!).
Be patient, it'll be here! :fingers-crossed:

You keep your opinion with you n others who are with you . That's not indianism on what i said, we didn't got this phone for free, we indians "might" have bought this phone more than any other coutry in the world due to our population. Though if it was the usa then more things would have been corrected on the service center like they have here ( now talking on their service center just for this) . Go to fb page and see emotions there . And I never said I asked the service center people, I asked their customer care people who did knew about its 4.1.1 update and it came correctly then, i am a man of my words where actions are not needed to prove . Time has changed for HTC drastically . Just type peter Chou on Google and you would get the result that insiders telling the biggest problem for HTC is peter Chou and more . Anyways no need to argue I just clarified and let's hope for the best to get best update with all fixes soon . Peace**

Don't worry there are posts on this site so you can update your phone with stock 4.2.2 sense 5 rom.
If you don't want to wait for sense 5 you have to sacrifice your bootloader (unlock it).
