Sorry to be a noob but I cant think of a valid way to backup all my contacts on my phone and also any other data stored on the phone memory such as email account.
I have a problem whereby when my phone is set to vibrate, it doesn't when receiving a text message and I have tried all settings to make it, but to no avail, I have been advised to reset to factory settings to restore this back to normal.
Any ideas people?
Your contacts should automatically sync to the Google servers if I'm not mistaken?
How do you mean? auto sync? are you reffering to the Sync mode on PC, or just by using the phone and using the internet google would take a copy?
Desire does auto backups for specific things, not for contacts though (if you are not syncing)
To backup your contacts manually go to People - > Menu ->Import/Export -> Export to SD card
Hi sorry to revive an old thread, but how do you then reinstall the contacts after a factory reset?
Edit: Ignore that, People - menu - import export - import from sd card!
Hi,
Here are few different options I did try before post here:
- Backup sms to memory card -> it create .vmg files.
- Tried to open .vmg in MS Excel and save it as sms.xml and open it with SMS Backup & restore from market
None of the above did not help me to restore messages from my old Samsung wave to DHD.
Is there any other option, how to do that?
Hello, I often flash new roms to my phone. I noticed that my contact pictures have a very poor resolution after a fresh install and the following sync with the google servers.
Because of that I want the save and restore the high resolution pics without google sync. So there is no need to relink all contacts to gallery pics every time.
Can anyone please give me a hint, how to backup it with titanium backup? Or wich file / folder I have to backup? Thanks.
Hi,
My two year old son smashed my screen on my Arc . The screen is unresponsive. Is there anyway to get my contacts off the phone?
All my contacts are stored locally on the phone with no backup to gmail. My phone is rooted if it helps.
Thanks

You can make a CWM Backup in Recovery:
Go in Recovery
Navigate with power buttons to backup and restore
Apply it by pressing homebutton.
Then go to backup , apply it with the homebutton.
It starts to make a full backup , needs some time.
After that , your backup is stored at your interal sdcard in a folder named "clockworkmod" , the file is quite big as it is a full backup.
To pull it off , go to Mounts and Storage , choose "Mount USB Storage" and connect your phone to PC and take your backup.

I have a big problem ... after I rooted the P6 few days ago, having B119, I wanted to put B111 on my device. Having a backup of all dates from the phone, on 19.02 and 22.02, copy/paste that folder on the PC, I purchased to install B111. Now I can't restore the contacts. I put B125 and the problem persist ... it shows me that I have 302 contacts, the rest of the dates was recovered ... the message of the error is some like "insufficient sistem memory; close some apply and try again". What apply can I stop, if I didn't opened any ...??
Make a clean install of B125.
How to do that ?? All soft changes was made normal, copying "dload" folder to the sd-card, then updating from the local ...
I used 2 recovering programs, Recuva and Dr.Fone for Android, but no succes. With Recuva I find the files with the backups I made but I don't know how to recover the contacts, Dr.Fone it finds me all dates excepting contacts ...
Do I proceed another normal instal for B125, as I made before ??:crying:
I think contacts are deleted and you will not be able to recover them.
But why it shows me 302 contacts when I open the recover file ??
Go to contacts : options : contacts to display and check All.
