[Q] [Arc S] Which is best mod ROM? Stable, light, fast, secure? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I bought an Arc S for 10 days.
t 'a great terminal, but I can not notice that with the stock rom, after a small number of installed and apps moved to SD, the rom has some spots, lags, and the free ram (of his already poor) falls always below 100mb (and I do not use facebook, twitter, or whats'up Timescape real time notification).
I have root my phone, and removed some unused system app. I have used "autostarts" to disable unuseful app that starts at the boot, and using a task killer to free memory. When I use the task killer (FAST REBOOT PRO) I have reached 160 mb free max.
At this point, I would switch to a modified rom because I read that there are stable versions, in which everything works fine (camera / video included).
What do you recommend?
It 's my main phone, and I need that everything works and that does not have bugs.
I use it to take pictures, video, navigate 3G/WiFi, and as a navigator using Navigon.
What rom do you recommend to install for this phone fully functional but more powerful (of course ICS or Jelly Bean)? and Which kernel?

XperienceD said:
All these threads below are asking the same thing, "What's the best", and the general consensus is that there isn't a "best", it's all about personal preference. And given how many ROMs and kernels there are you'll be hard pushed to find someone that has been able to use them all to give a significant review between the differences.

If you leave as is, it's pretty good. A very little battery drain but if you know how to tweak it, it's even better.

[Q] CM9 vs CM10?

Which is better, CM9 or CM10?
With all the hard work of the FXP team, it's extremely difficult to choose between CyanogenMod 9 and CyanogenMod 10
I was wondering, if through the power of the XDA forums, people would be so kind as to help me out a bit, maybe offer an opinion, or tell me the benefits of each.
Obviously I've read through both threads and found problems and errors, but due to the constant updates, I never know if these errors still exist or not
Hopefully someone can help me decide between CM9 and CM10 or advise me to stick to my Sony stock based rom at the moment
Thanks!
- Jack
There are total three versions released by FXP.
1. CM7 - Ginger bread
2, CM9 - Ice Cream Sandwich
3. CM10 - Jellybean
Right now CM9 is in beta and CM10 is in alpha. Where CM7 is in stable mode means everything is working and most of the problems got solved.
Regarding CM9, its laggy compare to CM10 - my personal experience. But CM9 it is in beta, where it fits for daily use.
Regarding CM10, this ROM is in alpha, with fixes (posted in CM10 thread) it is also suit for daily use.
What I want to say is stay with GB, flash CM10 once the rom moved to beta version or flash CM7 for fast and smooth ROM. :highfive:

One thing I like about ICS is the action bar though
Are there any app incompatibilities like apps that only work with ICS+ or do they all work with GB?

Cm10 is better
Sent from my Xperia Arc using Tapatalk 2
Why would you say that is?
CM9 cuz its more stable than CM10.
I use CM 9.1 because it supports flash... CM10 is a lot more fluid than CM9, but lack of flash support is a huge deal for me.
I chose to try out CM10 and I don't think I'm going back
If you install cm10, there is a simple way to get flash working just as it does on Ics, tested it myself with flash and dolphin browser if you're interested I can link you to the apk

sorry but...Neither One Nor the Other .in My opinion!
What I like most about JB/CM10 is the options in the notification bar, like quick reply, call (for texts), and call back or message (for calls) not to mention the incredible battery life i get when my phone is in standby (i think it averages 0.5%/h, which is much lower than all the other roms I tried, for GB and ICS). But I'm using an xperia pro (since we share a forum) so it might not be the same... but one thing i don't like about CM10 is the camera (have they fixed that in fxp138?) and the random crashes every now and then. But it's not that bad.
If you want tasted ICS and GB look, just try flash Jelly Sandwich by Maxxio 1998. Just stable... Use until CM10 get the beta version...

I use CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) by Olddroid and with some tweaks that I made (froze some system apps and disabled autostart entries) I got 185MB of free RAM when I boot into Android. And I can tell you that it works flawlessly. On my phone it's faster than stock Android ROM. And don't bother benchmark scores. They don't always indicate that your system is slow.
For my is AOKP jb-mr1 (jb+) by erikcas http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173572
Very stable, is my every day rom

You can face some camera, radio, headphone, usb or some stability issues with other ROMs but the one that I use doesn't have any of 'em. With normal use, my standard battery lasts after 2 days.

I froze all the apps that I don't use. When I boot my phone, it uses only about 90-95 MB of RAM and by the way I'm using a Jelly Bean (4.2.2) ROM. I also prevented apps from running in the background so they don't drain my battery's juice. I underclocked the CPU to 748 MHz and selected smartassv2 & SIO.
I'm using stock battery.
I used Autostarts and System Tuner apps to make all that tweaks. Be careful. Don't disable Fused Location, System UI and Android System.

What are you saying lol slimbean has the aokp tweaks and customization and it's 89mb, super jb is 125mb and doesn't have interface tweaks at all..
It's about tastes, you have to search for what CM suits you, or if you want stock features, Ultimate HD based on stock.

Yeah, favoring superjellybean. If you're gonna tell an advice about ROMs, at least be neutral if you're not going to say the actual truth or give correct "examples" as you say. The xperia Z thing is something relatively new, it actually looks like ICS imo, and xperia's launcher isn't the best thing ever, let's be clear on it, on my side, I ran away from ICS stock because I didn't liked the statusbar at all, it's ugly compared to JB blueish/samsung's. (totally my own opinion). You did wrote that, but like saying "But hey.. This one has things but it's bad, this one too but it's bad, use this one." Not the first time I see that kind of advertisement...
Look, thanks to FXP we have CM available. The "official" is the second one you mentioned, that's the base for the other CM10 ROMs such as Super Jelly Bean, SlimBean, Racing Bean, etc. If you want the cleanish thing to start from scrach, download the official one, if you want things added "after-market", go search at the Arc/s Android Development forum and give the CM10 roms a try, I hope that answers your question~

Haven't used the UHD yet but this is a real gud rom . Even the battery is life is very gud .with the Lupus kernel. But make sure you have a swap of atleast 500MB+ because with out it you might get reboots while using FB or playing games for long periods. Once you the swap in place zero reboots ..!!

Just try it out yourself, no one here can help you choose the ROM since the performance differs with each user because of the different apps they install and the different settings they use.

Chgz01, i believe what you meant was to increase the internal storage from the initial 420MB to 500MB or more by using the swap script by cronmob/xstreamsiliencer. However I do face reboots quite often if the RAM falls below 50MB while running FB or browser.
