Just a heads up, I had been running beats on my s2 since it came out, and I installed it on my new s3, and it froze me in boot. I installed it under the stock kernel and rom, with just root. ended up having to do a restore to get past it. anyone having luck with it on any of the custome roms/kernels or know of a solution or another comparable app?

See later posts... I forgot to switch to the Froyo version...
I picked up a G2 this morning, and I've been tinkering and toying, trying to see what would work and what wouldn't. Long story short, tried to install the HTC IME Mod that I'd previously used on my Vibrant and it didn't work. It installed, but then promptly FC'd as soon as I tried to actually use it.
Any ideas?
btw...My phone is not rooted and I hate posting n00b threads, but I can't stand Swype.

Worked for me just fine. Do you have both HTC_IME and Clicker installed?
Try uninstall and re-installing both.

Thanks, That worked
Does Rom Manager work on the Captivate Glide? I'd try it myself, but in the past, even though I could pick Motorola Milestone from within the app, it screwed up my Milestone and i was left without a working recovery image, so I thought I'd see if XDA had any experience here.

If you look at my signature you can see what I am using. [CWMR ZIP]I927UCLG9 Stock ICS With the keyboard fix and tethering fix and I removed bloat via TB. But there are many out there that I am sure work really well. I hear that "[ROM] [UCL9] LiteROM 0.4 - Slim - Smooth - Stable" from ThegreaterGood is very popular. I just have not tried it yet. I am holding out for a beta of CM9.

no it doesnt work :crying:
Alright thanks man I might flash that one sometime when I'm free ha I just want to really open up my phone and have it fully customized I'm just not sure how to do it

just got a note 2
it's rooted and so I can't do OTA updates because it has modified software
is there a way I can get the update so I can use multiview/multiwindow on my phone without flashing a rom?

I don't believe being rooted by itself will prevent OTA updates. The update will most likely make you rooted again though. But their is no update available yet, and may not be for months.
I would install a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM. That way you get a better multi-window (that works with all apps), no bloat and improved battery life.
+1 for rooting & custom/ported rom. It's not as scary as it seems as long as you study and READ. Check & doublecheck that is compatible with i317. The are countless advantages to it over keeping stock (if you don't like what stock has to offer) PLUS (here is the best part) you can brag that you "got rid of that att s*$&" and hacked your phone....People are usually pretty impressed. Lol) Seriously though just take the leap. You'll be glad you did!

Install Clean ROM. Everything works great including multi-view
just new to android..... i would like to know what is the different between the clean rom and the other roms, like Jedi and hybirds?
I have only tried Jedi x6 rom. Don't want to try any other rom because this one seems to cover all the bases and is rock solid. I've heard nothing but good things about clean rom though so probably can't go wrong with either. Jedi is sick though. And for what it's worth it is also pretty clean. If someone handed me this phone I would not know there was a rom on it other than the upgrades, I.e., multi window, extra toggles, etc. Good luck with whatever you choose. By the way everyone on Jedi thread is extremely helpful and patient.

Thanks topshelf95. I am new here, that's why I ca'tn post in the developer forum for any questions about X6. I am using X3.3 now and tried X6 but converted back to X3.3 cos I can't install any other language for handwriting for X6. If I know how to fix that, I will switch to X6 for sure.
Really want to flash some of these newer asop roms but i am gunshy after bricking 2 Htc one's after installing CM 10.2 and Carbon Rom on phone #2.
I frequently flashed tons of roms on my gs3 and gs4 and never had a brick i couldn't recover from.
Can someone give me some reassurance that its ok to try asop roms again? Really itching to flash them again!
Thanks in advance for any advice.

how are you brcking them? i'm not trying to be a ****, but it sounds like it's more you than the roms or devices.
First one i was fiddling with dsp manager on cm10.2 and the phone cut off in the middle of a song. 2nd time is more my fault
I messed with transition settimgs and sweep to wake kernal settings on carbon rom. The phone overheated and the speakers and data were broken.
I havent done anything i hadn't done on my s3 or s4. Maybe this phone is more delicate? Maybe it was the asop roms? Maybe i have terrible luck? Im kinda stumped.

as far as i'm aware, and somebody please correct me if i'm wrong, but AOSP doesn't play perfectly well htc phones. that's why officially there's GPE vs AOSP.
but, as long as you can get back your bootloader you'll be fine on trying AOSP.
right now you can try santod's tiktak 4.4 rom. it works amazingly well and uses 4.4's launcher and lock screen so you get more or less the AOSP/GPE experience.
You have to be careful running ROMs not meant for the phone, meaning AOSP ROMs, MIUI, ect.. anything not HTC Sense.
That's the beauty of S-OFF as well.
We luckily have an RUU for S-OFF users if you do want to dig into AOSP ROMs, some.. not all are bound to have issues, such as data, when returning back to HTC ROMs. Flash the RUU and problem will be solved.
You need to be careful running custom ROMs that run anything but stock kernel also. Custom kernels can over heat, every phone is different.
I flashed between sense and CM10.2 with zero problems. And I did it frequently. I liked both so much I could never decide. Have settled on sense........for now.

Always check the md5 signature of your downloaded ROM before flashing in recovery, to make sure you dont have a bad download.
Also, sometimes what may seem to be a bricked phone can be recovered by using the RUU to put everything back stock. If you can get to your phone's boot loader screen by turning on with power plus volume down, you probably aren't hard bricked.
If you are worried about changing system settings that result in boot loops, try keeping a stable nandroid backup on your phone that you can revert to if anything goes wrong.

Thanks! The first brick was completely dead after cm10.2 flash 10.16 nightly. I read later that that nightly had problems with dsp, which i was fiddling with when it bricked. Maybe the dsp issue will never happen again i dunno.
2nd brick was on carbon rom after i messed with kernal settings (swipe to wake). Did the ruu but it didn't bring back speakers or data. Maybe i need to stay away from kernal settings period. Thx for the advice!

Yeah, like many others like Andy have said, anything AOSP is a bit riskier because it isn't the original. For me I always stick to sense based roms, and I've never had a problem
