CM10 low speakerphone volume - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Clean flash (first flash actually: stock -> rooted stock -> wipe -> cm10), restored apps from google. Speakerphone volume on max is very quiet. I searched CM10 dev thread and didnt find anything, google didnt find anything, so it may just be me.
Anyone else?

Me as well

I'm having the same exact issue, on a Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE. I think it is CM10, not the phones... I have seen speakerphone issues mentioned here and there. i just flashed last night's newest nightly, and this just started happening. Previously I was on one from late September, never saw anything like this. I may have to rebuild with an older nightly. I also may try some equalizer stuff I have heard mentioned elsewhere. No specifics, just tweaking equalizer settings to try to boost it.

I recall reading that M2 had addressed the volume issues, which is odd as I've seen additional reports of the issue in subsequent nightlies.

Is there a solution to this?
I also did a clean install of CM10 on my LG P990 and install GApps. The speaker volume is very low even at max. Is there a solution or path that can be tried? Thank you in advance.

I have the same issue on 10.1 nightlies with my HTC One XL. Anyone found a fix yet? In-call earpiece volume isn't very loud either.

Have there been any solutions found for this?
I'm seeing this on my Note2 with a clean flash, and continuing with each nightly i try...

incall volume in leaked gingerbread 2.3.4.-134 to low

hi all,
i am currently using defy with the leaked GB 2.3.4.-134 from previously 2.2.1-155. which is my favorite froyo build to upgrade due to (for me) its best battery life conpared to 179
all is working good but i have one issue with this, the in call volume is way too low even when i max out the volume settings anx use the brightest voice quality option. I have read around and this seems to be somewhat common accross models that upgrades into Gingerbread, not limited to defy only. Nobody has posted about it in the forum, so am i the only ones experiencing this? all other sounds is loud enough, just the incall volume, i recall my froyo have an e,xcellent in-call volume.
at first i thought itwas the greenbread mod for the camera ( which render my live wallpaper to FC ) but after i reflash 155, then GB 134, the probkem was there prior me installing the greenbread moxd.
then tried CM7 rc1v2 and the problem remains. no mention about that on the CM7 Forum as well.
any help for the problem guys?
an update,
look into some forums an decided to purcahse an app called volume+(can i mentioned an paid app here for non commercial reasons?) and doesnt do anything to my problem, still no change to the in call volume.
Don't know about GB, but you should have no volume problem w CM7.
Just make sure that you do a factory reset from STOCK recovery before flashing your 155 Froyo.
I did a full sbf flash on all of my froyo with a stock recovery wipe prior to it. so what I did was full wipe, flash 155 frying, root, install 2nd unit, and then install either cm7 or 134 via 2nd unit recovery. The problems exist in both, but when I am in 155, in call volume is loud. I am having serious trouble pinpointing the source of the problem and have yet find any fix.
Try Audio Manager pro. It's a paid app though, but you can see all the volumes controls your phone has to offer and adjust them accodingly.

[Q] Microphone stops working with latest roms

Right now my G2 is running Cyanogenmod-7.1.0 RC1. For the last few months any time I try to update past this version of the rom I lose my microphone. It works absolutely fine with 7.1 but when I go to 7.2 it breaks. For example, When I am on a call I can hear the other person but it is silent on my end. Voice recording programs do not work either, all that it records is a low level of static noise.
I have also tried CM9 and audacity beta4 with the exact same results. When I flash my phone back to 7.1 everything is fine.
Is there some way that I can flash just the old microphone drivers onto the new roms? I am competent enough to follow instructions but not enough to start breaking builds apart for the individual pieces so I don't know where to start.
I have always done a full wipe on everything before I flash.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
Currently I am running:
Radio: 12.52.60.25U_26.08.04.30_M3
Kernal: [email protected] #1
Mod: Cyanogenmod-7.1.0 RC1 vision
Build number: GRJ22
a
Didn't try any of those,
but this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492461
works great on my HTC Desire Z with absolutely no issues
It does take a bit of customizing.
I've tried that rom as well but have a whole different issue with that one for some reason. I flash it and then start to reboot and once the phone gets to the white htc screen it freezes with a few horizontal lines running across it. I have to pull the battery and then flash back to my older rom. I have no idea what is going wrong there.
Here might be a dumb question...
Would it help to flash a new kernal? Are the appropriate kernals included in the roms already?

Hi! Do you solve your problem? I have the same thing there. All the CM roms above 7.0.3 not working with microphone. Do you have still the Cyanogenmod-7.1.0 RC1 file rom and can you upload for me?
Thank you!

[Q] mic doesn't work with calls

Calls worked until I installed cm10.1 nightly. Now I can't be heard unless i turn on speaker phone. Sound is still crap but at least I can make a call.
I have tried a few nightly's and now I'm on the people's rom 3.14. (Loving tpr by the way). I doubt it is a hardware issue based on other reports and the fact it was fine until the custom roms.
I still use my phone as a phone from time to time and need it to work or I have to go back to stock.
Thanks
Could have been a bad flash / download
Did you check the md5sum?

Let me make sure I'm understanding you correctly:
Your mic was working fine until you flashed the CM10.1 nightly. Afterwards, the other person could only hear you when you were on speakerphone.
You switched to TPR 3.14. This switch did not fix the mic problem.
You're thinking that switching back to stock (presumably unrooted) will fix this issue.
Please correct me if any of the above is incorrect.
If he issue isn't hardware-related, I'd bet it has to do with the kernel. Let me ask you the following:
Which CM10.1 nightly did you install? Did you see any other issues in the CM10.1 thread which might indicate problems with the nightly you flashed?
What kernel did you use while on CM10.1? I know that the newer kernels (3.4.y verses the old 3.0.y) have had issues and are just recently getting stable.
As CNexus asked, did you check the md5sum for the TPR Rom you flashed?
When you flashed TPR, did you do a full system wipe, or only a Factory Reset (data) wipe? I believe since you were coming from a 4.2.2 Rom (CM 10.1) to a 4.1.2 Rom (TPR), you should do a full system wipe. Some remnants of the CM10.1 kernel/system files could still be there, messing up the mic.
I would think re-flashing TPR (after checking the md5sum) with a full system wipe would fix your issue, but answering these questions would help us diagnose the problem better.

I think you have the symptoms correct.
I did a data wipe but not a factory reset before each rom install.
I started with this rom
cm-10.1-20130303-NIGHTLY-d2spr.zip
I tried 3/13, 3/24 and 3/27 before trying TPR3.14.

Yeah, a full system wipe might be the ticket. Let us know if that works.
I'm Back Baby
I tried a system wipe and a rooted stock rom. This didn't work. I then tried the LJ7_Stock_with_count_reset16 rom and my sound was ok. I cleaned out the mic hole with a pin and bam sound was like normal. I'm now back on TPRGS3.14 and everything is good. I think I had 2 issues but possibly only 1. messed up mic from multiple flashes and crap in the mic hole. I guess checking for a physical problem even as small as a mic debris is an easy first step.
thanks for the suggestions

General Question about Installation of Custom ROMS on E980

Hello,
My apologies if this was answered before. I was on the stock ROM until a few months ago, but every ROM I tried had flaws that was difficult to deal with in a productive manner. My phone is on the T-Mobile Network.
I am going to post my procedure and my issues, in case I am missing a step.
1. Rooted Phone and installed TWRP via FreeGee
2. From TWRP recovery, I wipe the data from the SD Card partition and paste the ROMs there.
3. Then I wipe the system, cache, etc.
4. Install Custom ROM
5. Install GAPPS
6. Wipe Cache
7. Reboot
Issues:
1. One common issue I am experiencing as that no matter what ROM I use (CyanogenMod / BLISSPOP / SlimLP), I have to install the following patch or else no audio can be heard on either side of the call.
2. Is there anything that brings back the IR functionality of the phone on a custom ROM? I know many people might not use it, but I used it extensively and miss it lol.
3. Bluetooth doesn't seem to work correctly with Voice Assist.
- I am using the Plantronics Voyager Edge
-- Calls works with no issue
-- The headset works on Apple Devices with no issue.
- However, on my e980 whenever I activate voice assist.. My phone changes to the google voice screen where it is waiting for input but it never hears what I am saying. The dots that usually move as you do not move like it is not taking any audio from me. (I enabled the setting to allow recording from BT devices).
Just got called for work, so not wording everything this the way I initially wanted to. My main concern is #1 issue, no one ever talks about needing that file in the ROM instructions so I am not sure what I am missing. I had some other issues like the black screen of death, but that was resolved by the SlimLP ROM.
I am not sure if the call audio or bluetooth issue sare related to the radio firmware.... which I seen people mention upgrading the radio firmware but not many instructions on how to find and install the right one.
Thank you for your time and any provided information.

1. That one is because of TMobile, every E980 ROM I know about has same issue... Can't do much, because I'm not sure if including the tmob. fix won't break device for others.
2. Only KK ROMs, I'm trying to port LP QRemote but no luck so far...
3. Havey you tried latest Bliss & Slim builds? Bluetooth quirks and bugs should be gone or minimal now.

Thanks for the reply and for letting me know the reason for the issue is TMobile. It would explain why the issue is not spread further lol. I tried bliss and am running the latest Slim build but my bluetooth headset still can not send commands to android voice a assist. It works flawlessly on apple devices though lol.
Do you know if I should be flashing the firmware for my bluetooth or lte radio?

Welcome to AOSP, where bluetooth is mostly broken on unpopular and older devices. I've tried updating bluetooth drivers and that brought nothing but troubles; I'm using patched up bluetooth repo for Slim ATM, it should fix most of the problems... That thing is shady... Will see what can be done.

HELPP!! People on the other side of the call cannot hear me.

So, here's my story:
After flashing pawitp's cm12.1, faced severe issue with the in-call volume i.e people on the other side of the call cannot hear me. Since, volume received on the other end is very low.
The possible fix provided by pawitp was to flash other basebands:
hence, tried almost all basebands provided in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496989
No baseband from the above link worked for me.
Finally, after struggling for almost 2 months, reverted to stock 4.2.2 rom via odin. But, the problem still persists.
Please help.
Thank you.
