Ok , so my phone's is acting up. It turns off on its own then starts to vibrate in a pulsing rhythm. And when I am able to turn it on I try to make phone calls and I can't hear anything and same goes to the other end of the phone call. I read that the random reboots could be caused by a faulty power button but I don't know about the no sound phone calls. I wanted to remap the power button to + volume rocker but couldn't find an app to do it. How would I remap the button? Or better yet is my phone a lost cause? BTW I'm back to stock.

I don't think it is a faulty Power button. If it was then it would just hard reboot (holding power button for longer than 10 seconds will force reboot it). It sounds like a software issue. You could root and flash a rom and see what happens. Message me if you need any other help
Ok I rooted and flashed cm9.1 and it was running good for an hour and then bam. It shut down and started vibrating. I tried turning back on and at the phone turned off and started vibrating again.

Besides having to wake the phone, the power button is useless to me. I use apps like RomToolBox to restart and go into recovery. Goo.im App can go into recovery as well. When the phone dies during business ours, which never happens, I can plug it into a usb and boot up by holding vol+and vol- to boot or just put into my cars dock and it boots without power button. I use CM based roms with volume rocker wake. besides that, the phone also wakes from unplugging and plugging chargers...Power button doesn't really matter to me as long as volume rocker wake is enable.
im interested in this as well, my power buttom died once already and got it fixed, but I try to press it as little as possible.
so op, your power button isnt 'stuck' but totally broken? im just scared the my button will stick and stay in a bootloop. Btw you can use 'spob' app to wake the phone using the proximity sensor. Right now im using switch pro and lock the phone and spob to wake it - dont have to use the powee button at all haha

My friend gave me his s2 to see if I can fix it.. The symptoms suggest the power button is stuck. But it can be pressed and it releases and can be pressed again, so it is not stuck as in jammed.
The battery is removed, and when the battery is replaced, the phone immediately tries to turn on. It vibrates and goes to the Samsung logo, then the screen goes black and continues to vibrate every 2-3 seconds.
I managed to get it to go to the boot anim a few times, but it froze and restarted. I also got it into recovery but it immediately restarted after that as well.
My only other thought is that the CPU isn't drawing enough power from the battery. What do you guys think?

You can try some of the things in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310
It says it will work if it is stuck and not defective. Does stuck literally mean it is stuck in the housing and cant be pressed?

another thing i read some where on here is its sometimes actually not the power button itself but the ribbon itself to the power button that connects to the mother board sometimes becomes loose....try wiggling make sure its securely in there just worth a shot im sure anything helps right now
Hi. I have a HTC One X and while I was at work last week my phone was working fine. when i had a break I went to check my phone and it would not turn on. Everytime I press the power button the camera flashes. Iv tried charging it and plugging it into my pc. the charging light doesn't show up and it doesn't connect to pc either as if i never plugged it in. Try to flash it but bootloader wont appear on the screen. Please help.
Does it power off if you hold the power button for 10 seconds?

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago, although mine wasn't the camera flashing, it was the torch. I solved the problem by powering off and installing another rom. If the phone is powered on, hold the power button down until the hardware keys at the bottom start flashing and continue to hold until the flashing stops. Mine took about 30 seconds until the capacitive buttons started flashing then about another 4 or 5 seconds to stop flashing and power off. You should then be able to get into the bootloader

For me it was software, I had inadvertently set the torch to flash on pressing the power button, it worked fine with the screen on but once the screen went off it wouldn't come back on so I had to follow the steps above

ahaan thats weird never heard of this problem before
Hey ,i have the same problem as well. I thought i was the only one. i am thinking about taking it to the shop to see if they could fix it. I keep pressing the power button and eventually it would turn back on and work fine again. I've tried installing different Roms and even installed the stock rom but still the same problem. I would use it for a couple of days then randomly it would just go black and just camera flash every time i press the power button. Guessing its a hardware problem since i've tried different roms?
Hello
My phone every day once the state after death. where is the problem from?
Once the phone is turned off. By holding the power button and volume down ten seconds, it becomes clear.

based on you description, i think i just experienced the same problem.
my device was vibrating and then i picked it up, but i found that the screen was freezing when i was trying to unlock my phone.
it just kept freezing and seemed it wont restart by itself so i had to press the volume button and the power button.
