I tried installing this Google Play Store v3.9.16 from androidpolice.com. The article says to download and install just like any other apk. After installing, it just quickly opens and closes. Should I have installed it another way? It installs and works fine on my LG G2x.
The same happened with me. I downloaded the apk from http://tutznet.com/google-play-store-updated-v3916-remove-app-logs-expandable-notifications.html and transferred the apk to my phone. When I clicked on the install button, the installer kept on going. Even after 15 minutes it was still installing. I restarted the phone even with the installer running and the update was installed. I think that the apk file is not compiled properly. You should wait for the play store to update itself. I just got the automatic update 2-3 hours after doing this.:good:

I went through the process of getting the amazon app store, which I have done with other phones, and it went through the whole download, but would not install because I had forgotten to allow non-Play store apps in settings. I corrected that and tried again, but now it will only begin the download and then fail. I have looked for running apps that I might clear, have restarted the phone and nothing works. Still can't install the AA Store. Any ideas?
Never mind. Figured it out. For some reason it would not allow any subsequent download attempts, but I was able to find the original download through Astro and install it from there. Odd but true.
Hey there,
i am really having problems installing the Google Play Store.
I first of all tried installing it via KindleFree App, but it directly closes after 1sec.
I even tried the manual adding via Vending and playstore apk, same result
i read, that some users tried it several times and just by accident it worked somehow, so i tried it like 20 times, but still doesnt work.
it closes all the time directly.
One thing to mention is, that when i install Play Store after a reboot it renames itself to "Market".
Any ideas what to do?
Running StariRom 8.3.0
edit: i even got notification that updates for my apps are available, so in the background it somehow seemed to work, but just cant open it
Hello I am new to this forum, hope this is the right place to post this,
I have a Rooted Galaxy S4 Mini, and I had a custom patch of the Play Store installed, but I just hated the icon and didnt notice any difference between the custom patch and the original version of the Play Store so I decided to go back to the original one and uninstalled the Custom one and installed the regular play store and when I did, I opened it and it started loading and showed me the Terms of Service once more but suddenly the little window with the Terms disappeared and the Play Store froze. Soon after it just crashed and a message saying it had stopped appeared. And this just repeats itself everytime I try to open it, It wont even let me tap accept or decline. I tried installing previous versions of the Play store and the same thing happens, tried clearing cache & data and reboot, didnt work, tried clear cache, data, then force stop and reboot and got nothing. tried doing this to Google Play Services, services framework and play store, nothing. I even tried uninstalling updates of Google Play services and all of this steps again. But nothing. And yes, my download manager is enabled. I was so desperate I decided to back everything up with Titanium backup and then I did a factory reset. When it turned on and I configured it, there was no Play Store in my apps. So I manually installed ES File Explorer and Titanium backup to restore my phone and my backup wasnt there unfortunately so I installed Play Store manually too and I got the same error! And now I got to personalize everything again and download all the stuff I had back in so it would be nice to at least get the Play Store working again, please help me!
Sorry for long post please give me some of your time and help me
Thanks
Are you on stock rom? Are you using the GT-I9195 LTE model?
I am on Stock ROM, and I have a GT-I9195L Model its supposed to be LTE I think.
It seems my problem has been solved! Thank god!
I updated all my apps through Aptoide and the play store too, somehow that fixed my problem even though it was the same version.
Thanks
A while back I somehow found a way to prevent the play store app from updating. It involved the downloading of a phonesky.apk and I do have the file, but I cannot find the instructions I used that installed the apk file and no matter what I try, the play store app keeps updating. It's quite frustrating because I have a mirrorlink to my backup camera that has a NAV link to the phone that allows the nav to be on the player screen. The updated play store hampers the nav from working via the touch screen on the dash so it's quite a pain to get it to work right. If I remove the updates to the play store, everything works fine, but within minutes, if not seconds, the play store app again updates and all is messed up again.
This all happened because I had to revert to stock and re-root and do a restore to a previous nandroid backup, but somehow, something happened to the play store being updated by itself...
If anyone knows how I can implement the phonesky.apk I previously downloaded into the system again to prevent the market updating itself I will be so relieved! I have spent 2 days searching and cannot find how i did it before... It worked fine for over a year!
I have a Galaxy S4 running stock 4.2.2 Rooted.
Thank you to anyone who can help!
Aloha Ke Akua!
Hello,
I've recently upgraded my Sony Xperia Acro S to android 5.0. Everything was fine, until i tried to install google play store. I downloaded .apk file from apkmirror, installed it, everything seemed fine, but when I try to open it, the app just shows a white window and immediately shuts down. It doesn't even load or anything. I tried to download different versions of google play store - new and old ones, and tried to import the apk file from computer but result is the same for every version. Any tips/ suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Google apps don't work that way. You need to flash them via recovery, and they are separate for separate Android versions. If You are on Android 5.0, You need to flash these gapps via TWRP, and if on 5.1, then these gapps. Although You need to uninstall play store completely first.
