Thanks. I'm not blind. DKStunna mentioned working on CM10 in his other CM9 thread, so I figured it could have been an oversight.
Yes theres a CM10 in the works. Just getting gsm to work is going to be a challenge

Unfortunately, I'm having the same problems with this ROM on HSDPA that I was having on aeroevan's ROM. GSM is found immediately on boot, however, HSDPA is very flakey. It will succeed in connecting every now and again, but then randomly drops the signal and won't reconnect. I thought maybe I just had a weak 3G signal where I was testing, but I have a BB Bold for work as well and that can easily maintain a 3G connection on the same network. I also had no problem way back in the day with CM7.2, but that ship has sailed .
Also, when the phone is in WCDMA preferred mode, after a while the phone will lose all connections (usually after a reboot but not always), including to GSM and when I go to reselect my network operator I get the message "Error while searching for networks". No matter how many times I reboot the phone or switch to "GSM Only" or "GSM/WCDMA auto" it never lets me again select my network provider.
As I said, I ran into the same problems with aero's port, so its not specific to this ROM.
NOT WORKING:720P RECORDING....this is not good
and 720p recording works great in leaked and HD RLS 2 ICS ROMS.
Use 480p video recording I doubt we will see 720p on aosp until we get kernel source (if that is actually going to happen) if you need 720p camcorder use one of the sense roms

Some more details about the second issue with WCDMA preferred mode. It appears the the IMEI information is lost. Thats probably why it can't connect to a network even when I try switching it back to GSM.

I recently received a 004 hardware rev Evo with the latest HBoot. After rooting and flashing CM7RC0 (thank you Lithid) I found myself stuck in 1x RTT mode. Switching back to a Sense restored and enabled 3G once more. Going back to CM7, I once again would be stuck in 1x RTT.
The following solved my issue.
Flash a Sense based ROM to access ## codes and ...
1. ##3282#
2. Edit Mode
3. Enter MSL
4. EVDO
5. Preferred Mode
6. Set it to Automatic
7. Press Menu and commit modifications
8. Reboot
At this point you may go back and/or restore CM7 and 3G should be enabled.
To others stuck in 1xRTT mode in CM7, I post here hoping it helps others as it did me.
Probably a stupid guestion but how can I find my msl

You win.
May be old, but just tried this on my Shift and worked like a charm. Happily now running 3G on CM7, thanks!
I switched to SalvageMod and I am having the same issue.
I will try this later tonight.
Just did this, phone is rebooting now.
Was interesting tho, EVDO was set to 'CDMA', hopefully now that it's set to 'Auto' I will get better speeds and actually get 3G while on my GB ROM.
Holy **** it actually worked. Excuse my language.
Before I was hitting MAX 300kbps down over "3g" on Sense and 1xRTT on SalvageMod.
Did the fix and now Im getting true 3G and hitting 1-1.6Mbit down and around 0.5Mbit up.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
So, I dont know if Im imagining things, but it seems like I have worse battery life after doing this. Any ideas?
I actually was locked on 1x RTT after I spent some time on one of the CM7 nightlies. Even after I flashed a number of Sense ROMs I was still locked, at that point I figured it was my old phone and so I got a replacement, I wish I had seen this first.

Yep, pretty sure battery is suffering now.
Or you could just download network from the market. Easier than flashing a sense Rom and going back.
Also the battery drain is from changing it from cdma. That was one of the battery fixes for the evo, to change it to cdma, most people did it after rooting their phones. Now you are changing also affecting battery life.

So network kinda broke my 3g, switched to cdma to try it out, then back to "auto". 3g icon is back but my data speeds are not
flashing to a sense rom right now to try this. Im on a 004 Evo as well running the latest MIUI and I noticed theres now way i can drive around from VA - Boston and not switch from 1x to 3g atleast once... hopefully this will change that.
Thank you! If this works it'll prove that it was an issue in AOSP ROM's. I was tired of people saying that Sense ROM's don't show true signal. It was a load of B.S. and I knew it was something else because I would flip between UD, CM, etc and it would still have the same issue.
Nice find dude. This should be a sticky or added to AOSP ROM releases until they can find out what's causing the issue in the ROM itself.
ok so i just implemented the fix. switching back to MiUI to see if it worked.
edit: now shows when i have 3g thanks. im guessing the extra battery drain is due to it now switching from 3g to 1x now. or constantly scanning?
Thanks a lot, finally can flash CM7 again.
With the new roms coming out I wanted to see if people have been able to test the gsm/world band functions. I'll be leaving the country in august and want to know if i will have to flash back to stock or if roms are working with gsm/world bands reliably now.
RMK's ROM seems to be working fine for me here in Afghanistan. I successfully called myself from my Nexus S with my AWCC card in, but for some reason calling VM failed. I think that may have been the roaming network though. I will try again today.
Moved to proper forum.

It seems that any of the carrier based MOD's work, but the question is does CM7 work? I loved CM7 but went back to the rooted GB RUU to ensure GSM functionality. I am not confident with CM7 nor do I know how to input APN's to get GSM functionality.

APNs are only for GSM Data - calls and text should work without it.
In the sense rom APNS can be accessed by first going to settings-call and making sure you have gsm/umts enabled.
Then settings - wireless and networks - mobile networks - GSM/UMTS options
I assume it's similar in CM7 but I heard only the nightlies have GSM support and haven't heard anything about how well it works.
I should probably just nandroid and try one today - can't decide between Sense and AOSP anyway

I am running the same one, but I love CM7. I am awaiting a full understanding of GSM functionality and how to use it in CM7.
i tried CM7 nightly 31 and 32 and both doesn't have GSM working out of the box, but the rom itself was pretty impressive.
i opted for the "Incredible 2 Gingerbread Sense/less INCREDIBLY Debloated 8/6/11" by truelefty and chose the Senseless rom. GSM works out of the box, you just need to change out of global mode and instead into GSM ONLY (and UMTS if you have it in your area).
here's the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169991
also, i am using mobifone in Vietnam
i also read that miui can support gsm as well, so i'll try that later this evening. if someone has beat me to the punch, pls lmk
OMFGB and MIUI support GSM.
I think you might have to enter some apns and stuff manually buy that's just cause world mode is a recent feature. I tried MIUI last week and couldn't get it to work. I don't have a sim so I can't try this week.
OMFGB is sick... it is my favorite rom. Of course, if I could change the color of my battery line in MIUI... that would be my number 1.

So earlier in the week I'm all running GB MIUI and having no issues except the phone app FCing on me when I answered a call. Then I downgraded to an older version that didn't have that issue. FF a few days and all of a sudden I have no signal in areas(like home & work) where I before had(the work signal was very poor but it was there.) Now nothing. Just searching and killing ma battery. At home is 15mbps Wi-Fi so not huge there except I don't get text or calls! At work, no Wi-Fi that I can use. So I try to update to the 722 radio, no better<~~~Sad Panda™ then I installed the ICS beta 6. Still same(didn't expect a difference here as I am very well aware the radio and rom are separate.) All of this on Verizon. Between MIUI versions I did wipe only dalvik cache. But full wipe and then format of all but sdcard on ICS install to be sure...that's all I got. Any ideas? I can get a normal signal outside my house. 3ish bars on 3G
Sent from XDA app:ICS Beta6 on DINC2
I would try installing a stock ROM like Andy bone's and see how your signal is. Other than root, his ROM doesn't have any modifications. Of you're still having issues, it might be what happened to my first Inc 2 and you're radio is just dying.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
I thought ROM's and radios were independent?
So what did you have to do then? Unroot and return it?
Sent from XDA app:ICS Beta 6 on DINC2
they are, and were you running Miui version1.12.30? if so try 1.12.9 it is the most stable version to date. as far as radios go there is a 1111 that is the most up to date. thats odd that it just started like that. sometimes (like maybe once or twice a week) my data just doesn't work. the little arrows show no activity and I can just hot boot it and its back. I'm on Miui 1.12.9 and have been running it since it was released with no problems.
Rockin' the Miui Incredible 2 w/xda premium
Yeah, I had 1.12.9
The reason I recommend a stock ROM always is to get as close to stock as possible is for trouble shooting practices it is the best bet. ROMs and radios are independent, but custom ROMs don't always have full OEM drivers out software patches that can sometimes cause troublesome performance. Do a backup of your current ROM and then load a stock ROM just helps you do component isolation and prices of elimination.
If the radio is bad just follow the stickey that gets you back to stock and if it is under warranty just call and get a replacement. I did this and I had no hassle from vz.

First of all, I apologyze for my english, just want you to sit and read carefully..
I'm from Panama, and I just bought a HTC Incredible 2 from Verizon Wireless on eBay, it came unlocked for any gsm network.
I used it for a couple month on Movistar with a GSM chip, it wasn't able to conect on 3G network, only 2g but it's enough for me, beacuse I use WiFi conection everyday.
Today I decided to install a custom rom, I had some trouble installing the roms because I don't know much about that, It is already rooted by revolution tools
I tried miui once and cyanogenmod 7 Nightly, Kernel v2.6.35.14 its the current rom I'm using, but the phone it's unable to conecto or even find a GSM network!!!
It's on Global Mode (that's the option I always used before) and Data capability On, now I can't do anything without network!
I have typed *#*#4636#*#* and did the steps I found on another thread and nothing worked!
I really need your help! I read something about the 'RADIO', I'm not sure about that.
You need to find the apn settings for your provider and enter it in at your mobile settings. Not sure who your provider is so i dont know your apn settings, try google.
jics91, some ROM's don't support both gsm and cdma which is what Verizon wireless uses. One ROM that supports gsm and cdma is SkyRaider Zeus 1.3. You may want to give that a shot. Google it. It's a popular ROM that is very stable and it includes GSM.
You should be setting GSM / UMTS Mode in your settings. If you are able to make calls and just can't get data then you need to set your APN. Are you using Movistar? If so, Movistar uses the following information.
APN: internet.movistar.pa
Username: movistarpa
Password:moveistarpa
APN Type: default
The rest of the options leave default.

Cool. I am glad you got it to work. I am replying to you using movistar. Just landed in David, Chiriqui yesterday. Radios and kernels are for better battery life and signal. You probably don't need a better radio. But you should try a different kernel than the stock one. You will get better battery life and can have more control over it. But be careful, some kernels don't work well with certain roms. So do some research before loading it.

Has anyone figured out which radio version works best with WIND Mobile in Canada?
My phone seems to randomly lose data connection. To get data back, I turn mobile data off then on again. It happens so frequently, I have it in my Notification window as a toggle.
I have Automatcher v7 to match RIL with radio version. I also have wipe EFS.

Use latest Radio from T-Mobile 26.13.04.19_M, I'm on it, have never lost 3.5 G data connection
I am currently running ILWT but experienced the same running CM 7, ICS Audacity and ICS Quattro.
I have flashed the newest TMobile ROM a few times.. It must be the WIND network here.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA
Update
I don't think it is the network. My father's Amaze does not have this problem in the same places.
ILWT has been the most reliable ROM for me so far. I am currently running Andromadus b4 and am considering switching back because of the data drop-out issue. I have tried 5 different radio versions now.
It must be the ROM. Perhaps it encounters some data it can't make sense of and crashes. Perhaps it just needs to restart itself when this happens. A simple mobile data off, mobile data on fixes it almost every time.
I also find the bars reading incorrect. I be driving down the road with my screen on and the charger plugged in, and it will show me full bars. I can pull over and park for a few minutes, bars still full. Then suddenly half bars, no bars. This behavior is from a device that isn't being physically surrounded / shielded and is stationary.
Anyways, my G2 is getting old and it needs a another core to keep up with the way I now use it. I will wait for Jelly Bean but will likely switch to IOS.
Reasons If You Care
The menu button disaster is a big one for me. Also the lack of quick updates from Google for Nexus S and Nexus One. These devices should have had OS updates released on the same day the Galaxy Nexus was released.
ICS should have been backwards compatible for older devices as well. A few #ifdef in the code for fancy screen rendering and such. Big, huge fail!
Google, also, should have required no physical menu button for access to Google apps to enforce the new way. With only like 7% ICS market share no wonder app devs write for GB.
Google's handling of Android updates has opened my eyes.

The issue isn't ICS. The issue is the vendors haven't released proper drivers for ICS. What we're dealing with is code we've hacked up to make things work. If the vendors released ICS source code for our devices things would be much more stable.
We're always working within our means. It's not Android/Google's fault and it's not an ICS issue, it's just circumstance.
Thanks
I realize where most of the issues lie. I am an EE grad so I can imagine how difficult hacking ROMs together without device drivers might be.
Writing ASM for a microproc with the datasheets is bad enough. Without knowing what each control register is for and what each bit controls, it is a guessing game at best. I get that.
I very much do appreciate your work. As you are aware, from reading my post, I run a ROM you contribute to. Thank you. You have prolonged the life / pleasure balance I require from my smartphone.
I would contribute more to the development, but my post count was less than 10. I was actually working towards my 10 posts today to post in the dev forums. (The Andromadus beta 4 thread to be more precise).

I have the same issues, G2 on Wind as well. I've had some ROMs where it never occured, but then they had some kind of bug that left me unhappy. I'm currently on CM 7.2 RC1, and I keep a "data" toggle in my notification bar. When it drops I toggle it off and on and it connects again pretty quickly. Until about twelve months ago, MMS was unreliable, but I don't seem to have problems with that anymore.
In general I'm not happy with Android, but as the alternatives are all utterly closed systems I guess I'm stuck with it. It would be unbearable if it weren't for the hard work of all the developers around this forum. Thanks, developers
Agreed. Google has been a huge let down for me as well. Updates are slow or non existent in Canada (even on Nexus devices). Look at the percentage of devices that run ICS. JB is what ICS was supposed to be. I may get an iPhone for work. I am excited to compare it to my Samsung S3 on CM10.
