Hello got. An issue. was using TWRP was attempting to format a 4gig sd card and somehow my internal storage was forrmatted instead. (I think so cause the sd card still has old files on it.) Twrp saidit partitioned ad formatted ext sd then I chose option to reboot into system mode.my phone shut down and has not come back. Is there a fix or did I just make an expensive brick? Thanks
You more then likely erased your rom. Do a battery pull then boot into recovery and reflash your rom.

No I wasn't in wipe menu I was in advanced menu chose partition SD card.I can't boot to recovery. My phone wont do anything at all. I'm stuck is there a solution?
It sounds like a brick if you can get into recovery mode or anything. Basically you need to either send it in if you have warranty on it. If not that then you could buy a jig and use that to unbrick your phone. Those are really your only options.

Have you tried to Odin flash CWM again?

My epic 4g touch is doing bootloop in the 4g screen. Need help. any ideals how to recover this. I tried flashing rom but clockwork sees no files in external sd card. Plus, how do you transfter files to your internal sdcard in clockwork?Any help is appreciated. Thanks
When I had to recover from a bootloop I actually had to remove my sdcard, put the phone in download mode and reflash it. Flashing with a .tar on your SD card has caused many problems for me =/
As a rule, here is my emergency ROM evacuation plan:
1) Can I get to recovery? If so, I will simply wipe everything (factoryh reset) then reflash fresh.
2) If not, then just boot to download mode (power+volDown) and Odin over a clean kernel (most bootloop issues are going to be from a kernel issue)
3) If all that doesn't work, then flash a stock rom from scratch using Odin
It sounds like 1 is not an option to you. I don't think you can copy from sd to internal without mounting them on a pc and doing the copy on that side.
In any event, you are gonna need a PC.
HTH
You can put files on your SD card by enabling SD mount somewhere within cwm. However I would listen to that guy^
That is probably the best way to "abort" a ROM

Oh and I wanted to ask: what ROM did you install because SD mounting doesn't work with any of the AOSP ICS ROMs...

With ICS, I haven't been able to mount anything but internal storage... But I have been rooting since I got my first Intercept on day 1. I'm a danger seeker
First off I know i am not bricked. I can still get to recovery, bootloader, and I actually can boot into my rom. The probably is that I cant get past the setup wizard it keeps force closing. I am on Energy sense 3.5. I would do a nandroid restore but Im on twrp 2.0 and it can not read my sd card. Anyone know how to either past the setup wizard or get my sd card to work.
You can go hardcore. Change your Recovery to Amon Ra, wipe everything except SD Card, and reflash

How can I do that. I cant get anything to my SD Card
Take your SD card out and put it in a card reader put amon ra recovery zip on it and boot into the boot loader and let the boot loader flash it

Do that, or run the sd card fix from fastboot, using adb.

Hopefully the issue is only with the recovery and not with the bootloader which should still detect the SD card with a PC136IMG.zip on it. So find RA recovery on its bootloader format (PC136IMG.zip) and put it on the root of the SD and boot to bootloader (power + vol down), it should detect it and flash it.

If you can get to recovery, you can toggle USB on, or whatever TWRP calls it and it'll connect to your computer.
So I ended up unrooting because when I tried to change recoveries it would find the pc36 but it wouldn't let me update. It would say checking but it would take me back to the bootkoader. My sd card still does not show up. And my usb does not work. It wont charge unless I turn it off. I tried to use fastboot to get sd card to working but it when I put in that code from calukin s thread it says failed((status malformed 1 bytes)). Something like that. I'm still on 2.2 with update 3.70 is it anyway rerooot without my USB

If your problem is a loose USB port, they should replace it if there's no user damage. I had one replaced for free with a broken charging port as it's a known issue.

If there is no evidence of rooting your device or moddifying hardware/software (or they can't tell), no water damage, and they can't fix it for you over the phone or in the store.
However they may try to give you a downgrade... just speak to a supervisor if they do.
Ok I took the plunge and installed CWM and Ardatdat Kernel. Thank you to both Ardatdat and utkanos for your wonderful work. Now I made a Nandroid backup of my phone and I have lots installed so it is big. It comes to 1.897.535.488 ok close to 2GB. Now It of course places this in the SDcard as it does not see my 32GB MicroSD card. Everything great so far.
Here is the question....
If I transfer this to my MicroSD to save room on the SDcard internal. If something goes wrong and I screw up on installing another rom and the phone does not boot, how do I get it from the MicroSD Card to the internal SDcard???
I am kinda stumped on that one. Only thing I can think of is before trying any new Rom make sure I transfer back those 2GB of Backup files to the SDcard.
Please any help on this would be appreciated.
Hey mate,
I've done the similar thing. It's a but weird having the mount point for the external sd card /within/ the mount point for the internal storage...
I thought that I had read that the mount points used in the CWM were configurable... But I'm not certain. I will have a read over some of their docos and see what I find..

I kept mine on the computer, so whenever I need to restore, it's right there.
How? Is it not only a CWM file? Can you use the nandroid backup files via ODIN? Because as I am saying, say your phone no longer boots and you need to replace the ROM and your nandroid backup is on your computer how do you place it on your phone's SD card to flash with CWM. (Assuming Odin does not work) If Odin Works then you just flash via ODIN and on the computer is fine.
Can you map to your External card via CWM?
See, I also have an HTC Desire HD for other purposes, and when I tried to put a new rom, it would be stuck at bootloop. There is this option in CMW Recovery that lets you still view the files on the computer (Mount), and exchange files. Then from there you navigate to where you put the backup via backup and restore, and boot it.
CWM should always be there with the Vol down + Power buttons, and you should be able to recover it.
It's my first time experiencing with Odin since I got this device, so I really don't know much about it.

Very interesting are you telling me that you can mount your computer's hard drive on to your phone? Is there somewhere I can read about clockwork mod?
No, he's saying that you can mount your phone to the computer from recovery.

Cool just tried this and it works great. This makes complete sense. Now is there anyway to mount my 32GB card in Clockwork mod?

Look in the CWM thread. Pretty sure it's possible, but it takes an editing/adding of code

If you are using TWRP, sideload a ROM to it and flash that. I think even from CWM you can adb push a ROM to your internal memory. If all else fails, reboot to download mode and ODIN back to stock.

running ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.4
Odin'ing a stock image/package may be a littler easier for me, im a complete novice when it comes to ADB..etc
Well I was able to what I think successfully use Odin to flash stock firmware. The only thing I question is that, I still have all of my pictures that were stored on the phones internal memory.
In stock 3e recovery I also have more options rather then just wipe/factory reset and clear cache....
You really should Google how to use adb, there are some great tutorials from XDA. Everyone is a nub at first. Lol.
Flashing stock doesn't wipe the internal memory, it just does the normal wipes and formats system.

Ive dabbled with it owning my nexus s and s2 but feared i would do more damage then i could handle. Lol

I uploaded all of my pictures then did a soft and hard reset...

Ok, so this is probably a stupid question, but the last time I tried to do a factory reset on my phone and install and format a new sd card I ended up soft bricking my phone and I don't want that to happen again because I don't have a computer at my house. But...if I'm running stock JB 4.1.2 flashed thru odin, rooted, and I have TWRP installed can I change sd cards without a problem? Or, are there files on my current sd card that the phone needs to read the recovery or root or whatever? Thanks.

I may be wrong but I'd say you need your SD card with your recovery on it to be in your phone.. I've never really tried removing the SD card.. Good question tho.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was thinking but I needed a second opinion. I am wanting to switch sd cards bc I've got way too many pictures on it and I really don't have time to borrow someone's computer and sit down and go thru what I to keep, then organize them all and put them on disc....so I was hoping to just start fresh on a new card for now, but it doesn't look like it's gonna be that easy. So, would I have to put the new sd card in my phone then flash the recovery via odin? Or would I have to reflash the stock Rom or what? Any suggestions?

Just turn your phone off and switch SD cards. Nothing should happen to your recovery.

I don't know what to tell you. I have no problem switching SD cards. Did it earlier today.
My guess would be to make sure to have either twrp or what ever recovery you use on the new SD card you want to use.

When you flash a recovery it is installed to your phones internal memory. Not to the external SD card.
