where to get odin.can any one send me link.
you do NOT use odin with htc phones. you can run .exe RUU files on your pc(similar concept to odin),or you can flash IMG files in HBOOT.
there are a couple things you can do:
1)flash a new rom in recocovery. remember youll have to flash GAPPS seperately with most AOSP roms. look for custom roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=559&order=desc
2)flash a stock rom in HBOOT or as an RUU. shipped roms can be found here: http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Passion (Nexus One)

[Q]Want to SIM-unlock

So upon searching, I've found that I need to be on a stock or stock-based ROM to unlock (using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176719&highlight=unlock )
I'm currently on CM10.1 nightlies, so obviously I need to get to a stock or stock-based ROM in order to do this. Again, searching led me to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33570269#post33570269
This allows me to use ODIN to flash stock touchwiz.
My question is this: is there an easier way to get to an appropriate ROM than using ODIN? It's been approximately a year since I've last used it, and I would prefer to just flash a ROM like I would a new CM nightly. Which ROMs are suitable for me to flash which will allow me to SIM-unlock my phone?
Also, if I make a nandroid, flash the stock ROM, unlock, then restore the nandroid, will I keep the unlock? Or is the best way about doing this: wipe data/cache, flash stock ROM, unlock, wipe data/cache, flash CM?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] From custom JB ROM to KitKat, what steps needed?

Its been so long since I installed a custom JB rom I can't see how to update to a custom 4.4.4 rom.
I've got KYRILLOSv8 and baseband rom XXMF1 and don't know the steps to take to flash a Carbon KitKat edition. I think I have to use ODIN to flash an official KitKat rom first then follow the instructions for the custom rom, is that correct?
Can I use ODIN to flash official KitKat over the custom KYRILLOSv8 or do I need to go back to official JB rom first?
Its just steps needed to go from JB custom to KK custom I'm unsure about and after a quick procedure guide so as not to end up in a mess. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
It was easier than I thought, flashed the lated JB rom in ODIN then installed custom KK rom and gapps.

Newbie needs help to install custom ROM

Fellas,
I just rooted my phone and learned from a youtube video about creating nandroid backup. I am really excited by this custom ROMs. I want to install lollipop on my Galaxy s3. I see that all the builds on the download section are nightlies for 12.1, so I am not sure whether I can go ahead and install one. I am concerned about any potential issues as I use my phone to get work emails. Can I grab the latest nightly and go ahead with flashing? Also, can you list any issues that I need to be aware of?
Have you updated your phone to the latest stock ROM? If not, I suggest you update to the latest stock ROM, then use Odin to install a custom recovery, use the custom recovery to create a nandroid backip, and finally use custom recovery to flash a custom ROM.
