Hey guys, this is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway since I couldn't find the answer.
I'm currently running a ROM built from JZO54K source (mmuzzy's) and have a question regarding SystemUI.apk. I've been using a battery mod that was made for, I think, JRO03C on JRO03R, JRO03O, and even tested on JZO54K. For fun, I just finished building my own modded SystemUI.apk using a SystemUI from stock JZO54K (to my amazement it actually works), but I'm wondering if it's worth while that I do this every time I upgrade my ROM. Is SystemUI.apk ever touched or updated with newer builds of Jelly Bean, or could I just keep using this one that I made on future builds?

Hi,
I want 4.0.3 but I don't want all the stuff chefs are adding. Unless that stuff is not noticeable at all. Basically I'm looking for battery improvement for my stock ROM.
What ROM is closest to stock ROM? Visually and functionally.
Thanks!!!
compile 4.0.3 from AOSP yourself and don't add anything.

no pleasure without pain
official stock right now is 4.0.2, everything else related to 4.0.3 are AOSP based, meaning either take what's out there or compile own ROM.
simple
I will be making a GSM "stock" 4.0.3 build soon for somebody. You are welcome to it once I get it done.
Learn how to build, you'll love your phone more.

I was using Fanco 216 For a while and it ran great I just flashed trinity Alpha 28 and i have heard good things about it, try one of those
Stock? Havn't found a kernel yet which doesn't lag for me atleast =] i dont mean extreme lag just little stutters that i didn't noticed when using stock
I've been happy with the GlaDos 2.0RC on JB so far..
I'm happy with the stock one for now.
trinity kernel, the way google wanted jellybean to be ran. here, experimental tab http://www.derkernel.com/jbtuna.php#
Franco 216 is easily the best

Stock. I tried some and they were horrible. Franko was always nice but on jb it made it ten times slower, i have never ever experienced so much lag before. Stock is fast, does not lag, gets nice battery consumption so why would you even consider tinkering around.
Stock. its the smoothest for me so far
Can anybody give Me a link for the stock kernel thanks in advance

Just like any 'what kernel should I use with _____' thread, answers will never be objective and will be based on individual results which will not necessarily be reproducible on every handset. There are already multiple threads asking what the best kernel is for 4.1.
Also:
1. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has not been released. A developer preview does not count.
2. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean sources have not been released

I saw a link to the stock kernel in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738018. It should work with any galaxy nexus variant, but as always, flash at your own risk and nandroid first.

Edit: correct. 4.1 kernel source was released. I missed it.
been running Lean kernel, and its my first "non-stock" kernel since flashing jellybean last week. gotta say I love it so far. great battery life, and just as smooth as stock as far as my use goes. I got 4 1/2 hrs of screen on time tody with it. on WiFi all day, but still happy

My feelings exactly... I have always been a Franko kernel user previously, but I found his JB kernel to be very choppy. I then went and reflashed the ROM(didn't know where to get the actual stock kernel from) so I could go back to the stock kernel and I am happy again! lol
But it really is a personal choice which depends a lot on what you individually want to do with your phone.

kernel source was released the same day that the google io attendies received JellyBean. since google released it, they legally have to provide kernel source according to the GPL. our kernel devs here all follow GPL as well, thats one of the requirements of xda to allow them to post their custom kernels. btw, source is where it always is. please dont insult our wonderful kernel developers.

Subject: [android-building] GPL components for the Jelly Bean preview
To: <[email protected]>
As usual, Android 4.1 ("Jelly Bean") contains a few components
licensed under the GPL or similar licenses. For the preview that was
just announced at Google I/O, the source code of those components is
available in AOSP.
The JFN53F platform components are tagged android-4.1_pre1 in their
respective projects. That's the version that Nexus 7 has in the box.
The JRN84D platform components are tagged android-4.1_pre2 in their
resepctive projects. That's the automatic update for both Nexus 7 and
Galaxy Nexus.
The SDK platform components are tagged android-4.1-sdk_pre1 in their
resepctive projects.
They are available with full source history. They are fully merged
into the master branch (except webkit). They all build on top of the
current AOSP master.
The Nexus 7 kernels are in the kernel/tegra project, under SHA-1
8dd2eab (in the box) and 55edff4 (the update). The Galaxy Nexus kernel
is in the kernel/omap project, under SHA-1 e8de0e2. They all have full
source history.

Yeah...sorry for the incorrect info. I've been checking since I was corrected, and my git was broken and not pulling the source for 4.1.

hi,
i know asking what rom is better is not a good questions as it is different for different people. However, I just want to know what is the most stable, so once I flash it i dont need to keep re flashing.
I am ussualy a fan of CM and when they get stable releases I flash them and then dont need to think about it anymore. on my previous samsung galaxy S I used the CM9 RC for a long time until the stable CM9 came out and then used that.
currently there is not stable CM10 and when it comes out I will probaby use it perminently.
What JB rom can i install that will be stable to use for the next months until CM10 stable comes out?
im using stock JB right now.

ok i understand. but i guess the main things im lacking on stock is percent battery, ability to alter the navigation bar at the bottom, adding shortcuts to the lock screen slider, and themes.
is there any way to do that on stock? if not any other rams as clock to stable as stock

Bugless Beast, 9-27 has to new binaries and is JRO03R.

Rasbeanjelly. Its the cleanest rom ever. Fast, amazing battery life and the latest aosp source. Also the nee binaries from jro03R. You should try it. It has the power widget, lockscreen targets and some more mods. If you dont like all the blue of the icons, simply flash modstorms white mod. Flash the rom + trinity/franco. The outcome is awesome performance, no slowdowns, everything just works. No reboots and sh!t. I highly recommend it.

You've already got the most stable Jelly Bean software then
stock, are you jellin, cm10.
after those you get into roms with more features and and there tends to be little bugs that sometimes go along with them.
Nothing against the others Ive had good experiences on alot of roms but as for the MOST stable these in my opinion would be them.
Stock ROM.
Beamed from my Grouper.
ok looking into BAMF and rasbeanjelly.
another question that could help me dicide between the two. do either have the possibility to upgrade the rom on the device without a computer. so when i install it i can always have the latest version without having to keep resetting to factory settigns and wiping all the data and cache

Yeah, you should read up on some stuff before continuing anything Rom related. Just look for stickied topics, read them, and you will have way less questions left.

are you sure? becuase when i was running CM9 RC2 on my old captivate, then the CM9 stable came out. I kept checking for updates in the settings and it kept saying my software was upto date. I had to download the new file and flash it again in clockwork mod.
Hi everyone,
I just bought an i927, and I'm really looking forward to installing some custom ROMs. Above all, I'd love to see a MIUI rom for this device. MIUI is hands down my favorite Android flavor. What do you think about these instructions for creating a "MIUI PatchROM"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483332It looks to me like it should be possible to MIUI-ify an existing stable ROM for the i927 with this method. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers.
interesting if you will to do this I would recommend you use the "[07.06.12]Osimood v2.06.07" ROM as that one is based off of 2.35 and has all bloat removed. Will make for a good starting point for you. you can find it at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462298 good luck and I hope you get it working MIUI is a nice looking ROM

That would be interesting, but it's dated february and based on GB.
I think we should consider basing it on ICS: CM9 is coming, it should be easier (assuming CM9 works well).
Hmm, I was also wondering if those instructions would work for ICS too. I know that MIUI is currently running with the ICS base on other devices.
As for me, I doubt I have the skills to pull this off.
Is this still stands? It would be really cool to have MIUI v4 on the glide!
Someone recently mentioned wanting to give it a try in the CM10 topic, so it seems it's on!

Unfortunately I think I'm too dumb to follow those sketchy instructions that I linked to, which assume a huge amount of knowledge of the Android base system and its frameworks. But, for those who have already created ROMs for the i927 or even other devices, I suspect it would be relatively easy.
I though I'd look into trying this! I'll need some help from some willing dev' s and Linux gurus!
So far I have followed the instructions from get hub, synced the patchrom. Following the command to adb pull "stockrom.zip" from my glide is getting errors and won't make the zip.
I'm currently running the new UCLJ3 ics update that is rooted, deodexed, and zipaligned, with litekernel v1.1. I'll have to redo the adb pull to get the error, can't remember what it was. It was at the end when it was about to make the zip.
If anyone is willing to help, I'll post the exact error later tonight after work!

There is a contact form for "Customized Projects" here: http://slimroms.net/index.php/contact/11-customized-projects but I don't believe that they are actively taking new projects, though I doubt that they would have issues with it since many other Kangs running their sources. I really wish that I had the time, patience and experience to try to build it myself. If it doesn't happen, oh well, I tried.
