Different GN2 regions. How to! - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my GN2 today. I got a update right away but wasn't the multi Window update. How to identify where my GN2 is from?

Well where did you get the phone from?
Also it should have the local language on the box.
If you're worried about not getting the update, reset it back to factory and at the setup just choose a region which has that firmware released. Like the UK. Then you'll receive it OTA.

Why not download the desired firmware and flash via Odin? Aren't all the N7100 devices the same anyway? Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

Or just root and flash a custom Rom.

[Q] AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Stock Firmware

I really am tired of reading how Sprint, T-Mobile and International Note 2s have gotten their stock firmware available for download. Is there ANY way someone here can link me to or give me the stock unrooted firmware for AT&T Galaxy Note 2 SGH-i317M ? I really want to Unroot my phone. I rooted it a couple of days ago using the Saurom ROM to get the multi-view on my phone. I used CWM recovery and Odin to make a backup of my phone's img prior to installing Saudom ROM. That means that the img of my phone that I backed up is the rooted version right?
Please help. I don't quite like the way my phone works while rooted. This is scary territory and I just want to go back to the way it was when I bought it I'll just wait for the ligit update from AT&T that will be coming hopefully later this month. So if anyone can provide me with the unrooted stock AT&T Note 2 Firmware, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
And I'm a noob so talk slowly

It took a few weeks after device release before Official tar got dropped on other carriers .
The same will be the case for ATT version.
The good news for Sprint etc they had developers capable of turning system dump into tar a couple days after device release.
Unfortunately are development isn't up to such task so were sol.
On a positive note - no pun intended.

You can try to force OTA update...turn off internet connectivity (wifi/3g) go to Settings>Applications>Alls>Google Services Frameworks>stop and wipe data...turn on internet connectivity and go to Settings/info/update.

BELL note 2 problem

hi sorry for my bad english.
I installed some custom rom on my phone
but after i installed cleanrom 4.9 ace with setting for rogers (and other canadian carrier) i went back to Bell factory rom 4.1.2 version and i got rogers icon instead of Bell icon.
Fact:
- i did a lot of factory reset (wipe data/cache)
- I downloaded rom from sammobile site
- i have samsung galaxy note 2 (SGH-i317M) from bell
- I used odin to restore to bell's rom
but after many try to revert back to bell official rom i get stuck with rogers icon
Any hint ?
What do you mean by a Rogers Icon? Like when its booting or somewhere in the system?
app icon on lauchpad i mean: 1 number, 1 contact, rogers voice mail etc
I think he means the Rogers Apps that come with the Note 2 when you get it from Rogers.

yes
K well if you are sure you downloaded the correct version then its probably a fault with sammobile uploading the wrong firmware. Try downloading the other Bell one from October 2012 then updating through the official OTA

Ok man u downliaded the wrong firmware. U dl rogers instead of bell. It wont make a difference though. Just delete the Rogers apps with titanium. Or you can do it the hard way and re download the right stock rom and do it again. You need to read more stuff before you flash or you're gonna brick
? http://bit.ly/18WHgY4 ?
already tested with 4.1.1 from sammobile but still like rogers firmware too
any other place i can grab official firmware ?
the 2 i tryed from sam mobile:
I317MVLBMA3_I317MOYABMA3_I317MVLBMA3_HOME.tar.md5 --- 4.1.2
I317MVLALJ2_I317MOYAALJ2_I317MVLALJ2_HOME.tar.md5 --- 4.1.1
but those like to be wrong as they both have rogers app on it

Who cares if it has rogers apps. Just delete them. Your phone will function the same and you'll forget in a day or two!

Did u happen to make a Nandroid backup before you flashed a rom? If so restore it and you'll be good to go.
Why do u need to get it repaired?

nope i didn't i know ist stupid but i tried lot of time to do it but it never worked.
in fact it is the only thing i wasnt able to do
I kinda had the same issue but stuck with Bell stock instead of Rogers stock.
This won't work as a proper solution for you since you are sending it to Samsung but I changed the csc files and got the Rogers Apps back but I'm still using the Bell stock firmware.

Root your phone then open playstore search samsung csc. Open the app then choose your carrier from there it will reboot and factory reset your phone to Bell's firmware.

Locked Bootloader?

Just received a Note 2 this evening. Been trying to hack my wife's S4 (i337) without any success, and got an offer from AT&T after 6 months of upgrading my last phone at regular upgrade price.
My question. I talked with my friend and he was able to use Odin to flash N7105 rom into the Note 2. But mine just fail right after I click Start with Odin, exactly like the S4. Unlike the S4, which shows "Write Protection: Enabled", this phone doesn't show anything.
I am just wondering, if the phone itself has a locked bootloader or not. I searched and many of the result says "NO". I was able to flash N7005 rom into i717 before in Odin without a single problem though.
You need root

Going back to 4.1.1 Stock Help!

Hi All,
I just picked up a i317m Note II - It's locked to Rogers and I need to use it with Telus (I'm in Canada). The phone is stock 4.3 Rom.
I've unlocked a few S3's/Note II's in the past using the "free method" through the service menu's, but remember at the time the phone needed to be on 4.1.1 to work. (Even the updated 4.1.2 didn't have the proper menu items)
Can I simply revert back to 4.1.1 from 4.3 without issue using Odin and the Rogers 4.1.1 Firmware from SamMobile? Will it cause any issues?
I'm new to this whole Knox thing, need to do some reading this weekend about what's changed in the past 6 months here, but for now, I need to get the phone unlocked so I can at least use it.
Any help/comments ASAP would be great.
If your simply trying to unlock the device from the hidden menu. Then your best bet would be too flash the older modem. That was released with the 4.1.1 firmware. Then that menu will show up for you to do the unlock...
Or another option is to go to http://www.sammobile.com/
to get your stock firmware...

Thanks - I was just wanting to confirm there were no issues downgrading this method from 4.3 to 4.1.1 - I've done it before but not since official 4.3 had hit.
Turns out this thread was not needed. I just bought the used Note II and was told it was locked to Rogers. I just put my Telus sim in it and all is working fine, it's already been unlocked. Strange, but good enough.

You can't downgrade after having the official 4.3 firmware/bootloader.
And that person you got it from must have unlocked it when it was on 4.1.1
That's good it's working:thumbup:
