I have an ATT Galaxy SIII - I just learned that I can flash a TMOBILE ROM - and it works quite well - at least the one I flashed does - Frosty JB -
But here is my question:
After flashing I added the ATT APN to the phone - so far so good - data connects great - speeds are good - etc.
I wanted to see what would happen if I used the original TMOBILE APN that came with the ROM and to my surprise - it worked - my data speeds were as fast with the TMOBILE APN settings as they were when I had the ATT APN Settings activated.
I am curious how this happens? And what are the possible long term consequences if any ?
From what i Can see so far - I can use either the TMOBILE APN or the ATT - and they are totally different from each other - does any one have any ideas about this? I have searched online and havent been able to answer the questions -
When I was using my tmobile s3 on an att sim card I would manually have to add the new apn for att. And it would only get 3g. Thats strange how your ohone works with out modifying the apn settings on att. The frequencies are different on tmobiles hspa+ network. Whuch runs off 2100/1700 and not like att who runs off 1900 for hspa+ and 2100 for their lte.

Hey guys,
I'm getting a AT&T S3 and being that i'm on Rogers and my data plan includes tethering (which i use ALOT).
Also since both the AT&T and Rogers variants are pretty much similar hardware-wise other than it's software, is it possible to flash the stock Rogers ROM straight to the AT&T S3 or will i have to wait for a ROM that's based on the Rogers one to flash onto the phone?
Sorry if this question has been asked before.
Thanks!
BUMP.
Reason i'm asking is because also it seems as if my LTE isn't working (got LTE SIM, LTE Data Plan, LTE Network Coverage).
Could be the kernel?
Thanks!
Try adding the Rogers LTE APN...
APN - ltemobile.apn
MMSC - http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy - 10.128.1.69
MMS port - 80
APN type - *
All other values are left as default.
Just curious, did that work for you?
i have the same problem here. i cannot get my att s3 to connect to rogers lte.
i checked the apn and i switched to the lte super plan.

Hi All,
I currently have a rooted TMobile T889.
I have a quick question in regards to using the TMobile based phone on the Wind network here in Canada.
After searching, I found WarlockW's instruction post on updating the APN's to remove the lock in order to utilize the hotspot for the Tmobile SGH-T889 G Note II Reference Here ---> Remove The Locked & Hidden APNS & Tethering T-Mobile APN's! - New Updated XML
However, in the instructions provided in the above link he states "for TMobile users only."
this left me confused and lead me to posting here. Does that mean for that the modification linked above is for TMobile Network users only or TMobile Phone users only?
With a TMobile based T889, what is my best option to tether using this device on the Wind Canadian AWS network? Would I be better off flashing the phone with a Wind stock ROM? If so, where can I find a copy of the Wind ROM for the T889 (Searched)?
I haveunlimited data [fair data policy usage after 10GB] with Wind and also already pay for the tethering option as well.
Thanks!
I'm with mobilicity in Calgary and tethering works with the jedix8 rom....no mods but did delete the proxy in Apn
Off the top of my head:
-Carriers can lock APN settings through CSC.
-If Wind uses a separate APN for tethering (didn't bother checking) make sure its entered properly.
-Use whatever fixes that may be required beyond APN changes (Removal of T-Mobile-specific APNs may still be necessary.) on the US T889 ROM, or, if you're going to start flashing stuff anyway, consider using a T889V, N7105 or I317(M) based ROM which have none of those restrictions.
A broad, over-generalized statement I've made before is that if you have a choice, odds are that the Canadian or International ROMs have less restrictions, branding and bloat than their US counterparts. I understand some carrier-specific features like Wi-Fi calling muddle the waters, but this isn't a concern here. And if you *do* want carrier apps, they're increasingly available from Google Play. (Or just download that carrier's stock ROM and rip them out. [Cue evil laughter.])
Good luck,
Darkshado
if you are rooted, simply download the treVee mod... that's what I use with T-mobile... you're just gonna have to edit the settings in the app to get it to work right. Simple apk download and install and ur set
I used the Jedi 8 ROM on my tmob phone. Tethering already enabled. Simple.

I'm curious. I recently had an unlocked at&t note that I used on tmobile. I was also using a tmobile modem which enabled me to get 4g instead of edge. Now I have an unlocked at&t s3 that I am using on tmobile. Am I able to flash one of the tmobile modems for the s3 to my unlocked at&t s3? I know it would be easier to just get a tmobile s3 but I had a note 2 and it got destroyed so I had to grab a phone fast and I got a great deal on this at&t s3 so I'm stuck with it for now. I already have the tmobile modems just want to be sure if its safe to flash first. Don't want to brick my phone. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance to anyone who may have an answer for me.

you could check your radio settings preference *#*#4636#*#* using the stock dialer and try wcdma preferred
it would be in the Device information area. scroll down under set preferred network type
other way with JB would be Settings>More settings>mobile networks>Network mode
there it has less choices.... I have LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) selected there.
Or:
If the code does not trigger the Testing menu, get Phone Info from the market it's free and gets you to that settings menu.
Good Luck!

I've been searching both the T-Mobile and AT&T S III forums but haven't found my specific question.
I have an unlocked AT&T S III that I'd like to move over to T-Mobile. While I was in their store today I was told that I couldn't access their new LTE network in my area until Samsung sent out an OTA update. I know all LTE networks aren't created equally but I'm accessing AT&T's just fine, averaging about 32Mbps down and 10Mbps up.
I can't find any information about a Samsung update that would let me access T-Mobile's LTE network. I did a few speed tests with their SIM card in the store and the best result was 3Mbps down and 1Mbps up.
Any thoughts on this supposed OTA update or what I'd need to do to access their LTE using my unlocked AT&T S III?
For what it's worth, I'm currently running CM 10.1 M2.
Well according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Both At&t and Tmobile use 1700/2100 AWS. So once Tmobile releases the new Galaxy S3 someone can extract the radio from it's firmware. You could then flash the radio on your device. Alternatively you could simply enter the APN settings from Tmobile's Galaxy Note II which already (due to recent firmware update) supports Tmobile's lte network.
You can use this site to check on the progress of Tmobile's lte deployment.http://sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/T-Mobile/lte_310260

The APN change is a solution I haven't heard about. I'll probably head back to the store tomorrow to test this theory. I'll give feedback regardless of how it goes.
Please do I had the exact same question and I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I wasn't able to test this theory today because I couldn't find reliable T-Mobile LTE settings. I also read that changing or adding new APN settings can have adverse effects like Google Now not working. This makes me a little hesitant to try it even if I can find the right config.

Ah ok, you should be able to delete apn settings you add after testing. I don't have the phone in my possession or else I would test it myself. The settings I believe are changing the apn to fast.t-mobile.com while keeping everything else the same.

i falshed my n910s with this rom and it works perfectly fine. Make a backup just to be sure. If you are not on 6.0.1 ,first flash the official 6.0.1 first and then flash the fix rom
Korean KT Samsung Note 4 is not getting 4G/LTE. It is only getting 3G on ATT Go Phone SIM Plan. At one time on a Family Talk Plan it was getting 4G/LTE. I tried talking to ATT Tech Support but all they did was try different APN Settings and did not work. I did notice the APN Settings would not stick to the NXTGENPHONE APN (Flashed a message stating unstable Network) and always automatically switched back to the Cingular 410 APN. I already paid $70 for the GoPhone Plan. Can anyone please help me get 4G/LTE on the GoPhone Plan? I tried different modes in the Hidden Menu. One of the LTE Modes did give me LTE and gave really fast data but all my cell phone bars went to zero. Is there any other settings or the Hidden Menu or APN Configurations that will work? TIA.
