Hi, my phone keeps losing connection from cellular network.. I've had my phone for about a week and I keep disconnecting from cellular network, or sometimes when I'm picking up a call from home the reception is really bad this has never happened to me from my previous phone, Apple iPhone 3G
does anyone have a solution to this?
I had this issue as well. I know you won't like what I did, but it's the only way that Samsung knew how to fix the issue (I had tried things like disabling the LTE antenna to no avail). I did a complete factory reset, and it helped. What Sprint has you do is go into Settings, then Backup and Reset, then Factory data reset. What I did, however, was using Odin to flash the PALEN firmware to my phone, then do a factory reset as Sprint said above (using Odin will not erase data), and lastly doing OTA updates until I got back to LI3. I will post a video from QBKing below on how to do this. From there, I reinstalled all of my apps and re-synced my music.
I did this about two weeks ago. Since then, my phone has only disconnected from the network once, which it did so to switch from 3G to Wi-Fi.
Video:

This video shows you how to unroot your device if it is already rooted. However, you can use this video to know how to flash back to PALEN (just ignore the part about unrooting at the beginning).
Good luck!!

A good friend of mine waited to receive the OTA update of Froyo for his Incredible and when he got it he installed it. The bad part that I need help with is that when his phone rebooted it wouldn't allow the 3G data network to work. That section in settings is greyed out saying "Turning on..." and will not connect. The phone portion runs just fine. I have since returned the phone back to 2.1 and the same problem persists. If someone could help us out that would be awesome!!!
This probably wasn't posted in the right section...
I had an issue with 3G not connecting after downloading the froyo OTA off the internet and applying it as an update.zip.
I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but mine seemed to be that it wouldn't switch from the wifi network to the 3G network after getting out of range of the wifi (its set to auto connect to my home wifi, so it went straight to that after I rebooted it after the update). Then it wouldn't connect with the wifi off. I think I turned off both wifi and 3G and rebooted it with them off, and then turned back on 3G, and it worked. Everything is working normally now.
I'm not really sure why this would happen, I was wondering if it possibly had something to do with the phone registering itself after the update, and then not registering the 3G because it was on wifi and sort of "forgot?" That's just idle speculation though...
Also you might want to clear out your cache.
This might not be related to your problem, but I hope it helps!

Thanks for your effort, it did not work unfortunately.
Did he happen to have anything that controls 3G installed? Tasker? Juicedefender?
If he powered off while the data we disabled, and updated, then 3G won't work. Period.
I've heard of ways of restoring the APN or something, search the forums on that.

He did not have any type of app like that. He is a very novice user. I tried searching for restoring APN with no luck, anyone else?
When I first flashed Virtuous2.0 and did the initial setup, I didn't get 3G either. I'm pretty sure a good old fashioned *228 did the trick. I did have a backup through APN Backup & Restore, but didn't need to use it.
Have you tried turning on the airport mode, rebooting, turning off airport mode. Or perhaps do a *228?

Tried this too and no luck.
Go to Verizon and tell them to fix it fix fix it fix it! If he's running stock its nothing he did. Sounds super bunk that they finally got froyo only to not be able to use 3g.
The loss of 3g data is a bug with the froyo builds. All the froyo roms and the official ota have this issue.
sent from my Droid Incredible using XDA app.
this just happened to my friend too. I updated his phone last week with the OTA and since then he hasn't had 3g, but wifi would work.
did a rom manager backup before hand though, so i told him to revert back, and everything is working again. not sure why flashing back didn't work for you
So he hasn't had 3g at all? He can make calls and a *228 option # 1 doesn't update his settings and reboot? Maybe something when wrong on the install, whats hboot say?
Assuming he's completely stock I'd suggest going to the Verizon store and having them try.
(TL;DR at the bottom)
This morning, I swapped to my old Evo 4g (rooted as well) because I was going to be doing community service all day and didn't want anything to happen to my Epic 4g.
First thing I noticed was that there was no 3g on my Evo. I shrugged this off because 4g was working, and I only needed data for a short period of time.
After switching back to my rooted Epic, I followed the instructions, and it reset after putting in a stream of numbers and symbols.
When booting, I saw a custom boot animation, but everything else looked pretty stock. None of my apps, stock TW launcher, etc.
I shut off the phone, booted into recovery, wiped, and did a nandroid restore from yesterday's backup. Then I updated profile and PRL. I was able to make calls and send text messages, but no 3g (symbol said 3g with grey arrows though).
I also tried flashing a new ROM, but that didn't give me back 3g (symbol was still there).
I haven't been able to try 4g on the Epic yet because I haven't been able to get back to the side of town where the 4g towers reach.
Finally, I called Sprint to see if they could help me out.
They ran me through updating my Profile and PRL, turning WiFi on/off, turning 3g on/off, and even manually setting some of the network configurations (using MSL's, changing MSID, etc.)
After a good hour on the phone, I still have no 3g. D:
They told me that they put in a "Network Support Ticket" and some technicians will work on this for the next 36 hours.
TL;DR: Swapped from Epic --> Evo --> Epic in a 24 hour period, and there is no 3g. Tried updating Profile/PRL, flashing a new ROM, a nandroid restore, and calling Sprint, but still no 3g (even though the symbol is still showing)
Can you guys please help me shed some light on this?
Thanks!
(In case it matters, I'm running the Stock+ ROM from the Mortify Thread)
I really am not sure but you should try calling Sprint, pulling out the battery and ask for an RTN reset. I used this off an Evo thread when I had connection issues with my Epic after going full retard and doing an EFS clear with Odin. The RTN reset on the phone didn't work for me so I think it is different and the tech told me they have resets for voice, SMS, and data but I forget which this is for. If nothing else ask them to do a voice, SMS, and data reset on your line.
Sent from My Phone with An App.
I was just about to call them, but had an idea.
I unrooted and 3g came back!
Shortly after, I re-rooted, and am happily using 3g
Thank you!
If anyone else has this problem, I used this to unroot, and this to re-root.
XDA community, you're the greatest
Glad to hear you got it working. Odin works wonders!
This has happened twice now. I've gone into a parking garage where I actually had service, and got the error that I had no service when trying to send a text. It happened again today at work, where I lose service in the elevator, gain service when I come out AND am connected to wifi, yet still get this error when trying to send a text when I clearly have service. Only fix is to reboot.
Any thoughts?
I'm Running Wicked ROM.
This phone is weird if your downloading something and data switched to 4g it won't go back to LTE if your still downloading something ...it has to finish the download or pause the download and a minute after LTE comes backup ...this is the only problem I have with this phone
Note 3 using cm_11
I wasn't downloading anything. I'm on wifi in my office and I just received a text, but when I try to make a call or send, it says no cellular network available. WHAT THE F!?
I have been having this issue lately too. Never had it before and had the phone for about 6 months. Im stocked rooted, KNOX not tripped. Its been pissing me off lately too. Was going to wipe and start from scratch if it keeps up. But really dont want to do that.
Hi guys,
On 6.0.1 I had no problems with this phone, really good. But after official OTA update on Nougat I found an issue - sometimes when I want to call someone, I don't hear ringing tone and calling session ends after few (appr. 8 - 10 seconds) automatically. Sometimes people told me that "I was unavailable" when they tried to call me - but my phone HAD PROPER signal. I'm from capital city without any signal issues - it never happened to me on previous phones.
Does anyone of you have the same problem? I downgraded back to 6.0.1 and no problem.
* I also upgraded to 7.0 via Odin, but problem with calls in Nougat occurred again!
My config:
Connections / Mobile Networks / Network Mode : LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
PS: I don't wanted to change Network Mode to pure 2G because from time to time I need to use data connection when no WiFi is nearby. And today's browsing web via 2G is crazy Maybe I should change it only to 3G...but with pure 3G there's signal problem in some buildingz... I also didn't try Factory Reset - my fault
So if anyone of you dealt with this issue, please let me know!
Thx
I had similar issue with M even when I had good signal, after restart I recieved the SMS about missed call. I did then factory reset and switched to 2G and I think it helped. Now on Nougat, luckily, I am not having these problems anymore, and hope they wont occur, but I have to mention that I am using 2G, since i dont use data.
Pandotaz - Thank you very much for info! I'll try it again, 1st I make Factory Reset. If no help, I'll switch to pure 3G. If still no help, I'll use only pure 2G and will see...
Looks solved. I cleared cache and data on 6.0.1, made Factory Reset. After that I installed 7.0 via OTA. Cleared cache & data once again, Factory Reset again. Restored data from Smart Switch backup, but without Settings and Network. Everything looks good now on 7.0
Glad to hear that!
So I got this phone from my Grandpa who recently passed. I was able to insert my AT&T SIM, reboot, and use the phone as normal on 4G+ without any issues what so ever.
Fast foward 24 hours and after rebooting my phone a couple of times and accidentally "Updating Profile" my 3G/4G no longer wants to connect. What's strange is Voice and Text still work as long as the text isn't a MMS since that server is also no longer connecting.
I have confirmed the radio is functioning as I can switch it off, verify it's receiving signal from the nearest WCDMA tower through the 4636 menu.
As well as airplane mode and wifi are working
Sometimes my wifi will not connect first-time unless I "forget this network" and use WPS button on Router to connect - it's like my phone won't authenticate the network once a password is entered. Once connected it stays connected without issue.
Some things I have tried already:
I have attempted to change APN settings to strictly AT&Ts 3G connection - no luck.
I've installed custom ROM, Recovery (Bad Boyz HTC 10 Oreo Stock ROM, TWRP) - no luck.
I've reinstalled stock firmware from HTC RUU - no luck.
Got a new SIM from AT&T and had a tech "diagnose" my phone - no luck.
I've searched all over the internet and found multiple threads about having no signal or no IMEI, but this doesn't completely fit my issue as you can see in my pictures I still have a valid IMEI and cell signal. AT&T said everything is fine on their end regarding my phone, but since it is not an AT&T phone any other support I'm going to have to find elsewhere (Screw AT&T)
The only other thing I can think to try is purchasing a Sunshine license to S-OFF and try manually deleting the radio partitions and then reflashing an older radio or stock radio, but I'd rather not spend $25 for this solution to not work or further complicate my matters.
My question is has anyone experienced this random loss of 4G connection but still have the ability to call and text on their HTC 10? I know this is an older phone, but I really like this phone after using my LG V20 for so long.
UPDATE: Put the SIM in my LG V20 that I was using prior to switching to this device and it is also now having the same issues.... Wtf is going on?
Thanks for any responses!

At your own risk, this:
In the bootloader enter these commands:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
(this will wipe the faulty modem partitions we are about to reset)
