Does anyone know of an app that can activate and deactivate the screen when it the charger is plugged in. I know the Nexus 7 already wakes when you plug the charger in, but i would like to be able to have the screen turn off when the charger is unplugged. I am mounting the tablet in my vehicle in such a way that the power button is inaccessible and the tablet is going to live in the car. I am hoping this is possible with an app because if it is not, my other course of action is much more complicated. Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated.

The first time when I turned on my Gnex, I got the message "Coin Mode, Downloading" instead of the normal start up screen. What exactly is it? I turned off the phone immediately and turned it on again and it came up normally. I forgot to mention that I was trying to start the phone with the volume button. Does it cause any harm to the data?
Guess that's the safe mode

Isn't that a boot animation?

What do these modes do? Will it harm my data? At that time I didn't know which was volume or power button D:
Hahahaha you must be running CM10 JellyBro. That's the boot animation and it does no harm to anything other than your eyes because it is just a boot animation.

How could it be JellyBro if he said it was the first time he had turned on the phone, meaning it was new(to him, at least).

If it is safe mode, you don't need to worry anything you simply just boot into the UI without any third party apps. Simple reboot should boot you into normal mode. Just make sure that your only holding down power button next time when you boot

I thought I'd share this app with everyone. Did a search, but it doesn't seem to have been posted yet. It's called Screen Adjuster and can be used to remove the yellow tint some people find on their phones. The app does not require root. On mine, bumping the blue to +5 seemed to be enough since it wasn't tinted very badly to begin with.
This is perfect! Jellybean broke screen filter app and I love being able to go below 0% brightness. This app works like a charm.

Not sure how it can do anything real without root access. My guess is it is just sorry of an overlay or something like that.

My wife's stock NOte II screen Time setting is 10 seconds.
It comes on when notifications go off, and never goes off, unless we manually turn it off.
Any thoughts?
This continues to be a problem.
In fact, it happens at night while on the charger, and the screen staying on prevents the phone from achieving a full charge.
Nobody has any thoughts?
Maybe the face rwgonition sensor that keeps the phone awake when you're looking at it is faulty.

Try turning off smart stay and see it fixes the issue.
Sent from the TermiNOTEr 2!
Thanks for the thoughts.
Smart stay is off, so that likely is not hte issue.
There are 2 problems as I see it: First, the fact that it always turns on when anything happens, such as mail receipt, text msg, notifications. Then it never goes off.
If all else fails there is a mod in the themes and apps section to disable screen wake lock....so if you get any notifications it will not wake your screen I cant give u the link im out

Thanks.
Upon checking it out, it works with the stock messaging app. We use Google Voice, so probably won't work.
I have turned off motion, and I think it has improved. Although I think it turns on when fully charged (notification of full charge I suppose), and stays on.
The fact that it stays on is the real problem. I don't understand why the 15 second setting doesn't let it turn off.
Hmmmm....I just thought of something else: I may haave Screeble installed. I'll have to check on that and see if there are strange settings or something.
I know what it is.... go into developer options and look for an option that says "screen on while pluged in" turn it off
good find...

Check in Settings > Developer Options
Theres an option in there to keep screen awake while charging and that may have been turned on? If not turn off try turning off the dev options just to make sure thats not the problem.
EDIT: Two people beat me to it

If you notice your wifi/data cutting out in deep sleep between the hours of midnight and 7am then this is the solution. This will work till JB hits. Let me know if you still notice the issue.

Are you talking about when you turn the device on and you see wifi go away and come back?
Yeah, turn off display > wait a while > turn display on after not receiving any data notifications (email, Google voice, etc) > watch wifi icon go away then reappear and reconnect to AP and notifications come rolling in.

I finished with it just now and couldn't get it to work by just waking the screen. I use the task when headphones are plugged in it opens my music player which in turn wakes the phone.

Yup it does.
As I said earlier I couldn't get the task to work right.
You'll select plugin > secure settings > edit
Than it'll open secure settings.
Select wake device, select time and hit save at the bottom.
In theory by plugging in the headset the screen should wake.
As I also said, having it open a music player (which I assume is what you'd be using it for) would wake the screen also.
