I'm using freeza's stock rooted LI3 ROM and I'm having a problem with google talk. I have reached the end of my limited troubleshooting abilities and the only idea I have left is trying to reinstall talk but it's not in the market so I was thinking of flashing the gapps zip here.
Can I flash that gapps zip dirty? Will I have a problem with it being a gapps zip from JB? If so, can someone point me to a gapps zip that will work with LI3? I looked some, but didn't see any custom rom threads that were based on LI3 with a link to a gapps zip.
BTW, here is my problem. As far as I know, everything else on the phone is working and logging into talk from my desktop works fine. When I open Talk on my phone and sign on, I get an inactive indicator (grey circles with an x in them) on all of my friends and my own status indicator.
You should be fine flashing dirty. Wiping cache/dalvik wouldnt hurt. But even that shouldnt be nessessary
ics gapps- http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
jb gapps- http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
you didnt see anything linked to li3 cuz thats touchwiz. gapps are for aosp. They will still work on touchwiz but you dont need to flash them like on aosp
Also linked google talk from jb by itself. might need to be copied and pasted or pushed to system/app if u use it

Since at least 2 weeks ago (might be before, didn't test) when I installed bigxie v6 and Franco Nightly Kernel #6, I can't download anything from Gmail. .png's, .jpeg. apk, Nothing. Just says 'Unable to download' above, ironically, the 'Save' link.
Am I missing a setting here somewhere? Likely Kernel/ROM related?
I did search, but got nothing relevant, so if I have missed something I apologize
TIA
You could try flashing the latest version of GApps. There is a link to download it here. Might help.

Wipe data/Cache
Flash ROM
Flash GApps
Reboot
As per bigxie's instructions, All from Recovery Manually.
Cool, try wiping Davlik and re flashing the GApps zip. I am sure it's just a little glitch with your current GApps. Let me know if it works. You won't loose anything. I think that should fix it.
This is a full flashable build of 4.0.4 AOSP I compiled myself.
There are absolutely no tweaks of any kind, this is full stock.
Download
You can download it here: https://faramir.eriador.org/r/full-maguro-ota-en.4.0.4.zip
Installation
It can be installed with CWM.
Wipe
You should not need to wipe (except maybe cache). That said if you have weird issues, like accounts not syncing, try wiping.
I installed it over CM9 without wiping, but your mileage may vary.
If you come from pre 4.0.3 ROMs, please wipe.
Google Apps
gapps are not installed, so you will have to flash them too. You can use my mirror at https://faramir.eriador.org/r/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip
Please prefer the version of google apps you were already using, otherwise you will more than probably need a wipe.
Root
Note that this is stock, hence there is no superuser, you will have to install superuser and su by hand like on a stock rom.
Here is a mirror for it: https://faramir.eriador.org/r/su_ICS_GN.zip
Kernels
It should be compatible with all 4.0.3 custom kernels although I only tested FuguMod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438417)
RECOVERY WARNING
This is full stock, which means if you keep the original kernel, it will reflash stock recovery at first boot.

Yes, it's fully stock, the google way
Real OTA image from google is not available yet, so this is what looks like it the most.
It's mainly for those who want to have real 4.0.4 now without waiting and without losing CWM or making a wipe.
Thanks thats what i want, good job

As I posted in the OP, you need to flash gapps. It's forbidden to distribute them (at least included in a ROM).

I also flashed it together with Gapps, su and FuguMod R200.
I didn't loose recovery and also I can connect without any issues on Wifi and mobile data.

I flashed in cwm and flashed the gapps but I guess it didn't take bcuz I don't see them I'm no where near a laptop so I'm guessing I'm screwed untill I root/flash recovery??
I have put links to gapps and su in the OP
Soo.. is it best to just wait for another stock rom with a kernel that has a recovery... or just flash this?
This rom will not overwrite existing recovery partition.

You can flash FuguMod before booting, it will not wipe your recovery.
The problem is within the init.rc:
Code:
service flash_recovery /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
class main
oneshot
This is stock behavior.
Hey guys can I flash this over the AOKP Mod I have installed? If so, how?
I do not find meaningful replace the stock ... what's the point? Then, after a day or puts the CM9 o another aopk ..... mistake?

I flashed an inverted dialer/contacts .zip but apparently it doesnt work on my rom (jbsourcery). Contacts worked fine but now i dont have any phone app. Can somebody please package the phone apk into a flashable zip for me? Id rather not flash the whole gapps package because i have alot of other modded gapps installed. When i extract the gapps package i dont see a standalone phone apk so i am not sure exactly what all i am looking for or else i would do it myself. Thanks for the help.
Flashing gapps package did not restore the dialer either
Phone.apk is part of the ROM zip, not gapps. either re-flash your ROM and gapps/modded gapps, or you can pull the original apk from the ROM.
Thank you. Was wondering where it would be pulled from. I ended up just restoring from a nandroid.
I ran bigxie's 4.2 for a couple of days but ended up going back to CM10. I miss the new Gmail and keyboard dearly (camera too, a litte) and I can't seem to find a decent 4.2 gapps package that can be applied to a 4.1.2 based rom. All the offerings I could find seem to include pre-release versions of the gapps (keyboard gesture typing isn't as smooth and gesture trail is very thin, Gmail doesn't have auto-fit setting, etc).
I've tried pulling the apks from bigxie's rom and installing them in CM10. It worked with Gmail, but it now seems Gmail won't sync on its own. The keyboard and camera/gallery didn't work at all.
Does anyone know of a flashable zip I may have missed that has the released versions? If not, maybe someone can teach me how to push the files from one of the 4.2 roms to CM10?
Here's a link to a droid-life post where someone packaged them up in a flashable zip. This is where I downloaded them from and have flashed them on top of multiple ROMs with no issues at all. Put the file on your SD card, reboot into recovery, flash the zip and reboot.
The post says be careful of what ROM you use these with but I have had no issues with AOKP, liquidsmooth, xenonHD, and only loaded up cm10 for less than a day but I don't remember having any issues. Just make a nandroid of your current setup and it can't hurt to try.

I use these. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965895
They seem to be updated (not sure is they're the latest though) and they do the job perfectly.
Plus, garner has added the aroma installer so that you can choose which ones go in and which don't - pretty nifty.
So I've watched some videos online for how to upgrade to the rom, but they seem to be for everything but GB27.
For example this link http://www.thefortressofnerditude.c...b-7132013-to-epic-4g-touch-samsung-galaxy-s2/
Anyways, I wanted to upgrade to Revolt Rom 4+ here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2238252
I have my phone already rooted with my GB27. Do I need to downgrade or upgrade to something else first? Do I do that after? Are there any videos for specifically a d710 with GB27?
I've seen the directions on the revolt rom page here however I have questions.
]If coming from anything other than ReVolt ROM:
1-Wipe Data
2-Wipe Cache
3-Wipe Dalvik-Cache
4-Flash ReVolt JB ROM
5-Wipe Cache
6-Wipe Dalvik-Cache
7-Flash Latest Android 4.2.2 Google Apps
8-Reboot & Enjoy !
4- How do I flash with that rom? I have Odin mobile installed, but what file do I select? Do I copy over the still zipped folder?
7- What does this even mean? Does installing the revolt rom not already flash the phone with the latest android system?
I am sorry for the probably very simple and noob like questions. I have been building computers for a decade and am used to being in the 'advanced user pool', but this is all BRAND new and I have no idea what I am doing. Example: I had to watch a video just to root my phone.
Can someone please help? I'm sick to death of my phone but can't really afford a new one at the moment, so I figured a new OS would be pretty spankin' awesome.
To flash ReVolt or any AOSP ROMs you need clockworkmod or Team Win Recovery.

What kernel does your phone have currently, this is important. You say you are rooted, so it shouldn't be stock and probably has a custom recovery. NEVER unzip the rom just drag it to your external sd. #7 is nothing to do with the rom per say, it lets you use google play store. This phone the D710 is easily bricked, if you don't flash the right rom. Read and re-read instructions, the search function is your friend, and so is patience. I could walk you thru doing this but you need to know the terminology to understand the steps......Let me know when you are ready.
The instructions on the rom page take for granted you have done this before, so some stuff is left out!

Hey bud, Following the steps on that external site you linked to will work. Only two things missing: (1) you need an ICS modem. Search Epic 4G Touch Android development thread stickies for how to get that. You can do this before or after flashing the ROM, but you won't have data (i.e. 3G) until you do it. Not a typo - ICS modem even though it's a JB ROM. (2) You need to check the md5 checksum before flashing the ROM zip. Do a search for how to check that. This is because a bad download can ruin your day and this verifies in advance that you have a good download.
You always have to flash GApps (Google Apps) because AOKP cannot include any of them due to licensing issues. Revolt is an AOKP ROM. You'll want those Google apps. Good luck. You'll get it figured out.

Kernel version : 3.0.31-1014481 Is that the correct bit of information? I think it is still stock, I mean it still has all those stupid bloatware applications. Don't unzip, got it. I would definitely want to use the google play store.
I'm trying to take this slow and eventually through in the towel and posted here because of how confused I was. That was after like 4 or 5 hours of reading, le' sigh.
I would love to get a walkthru, that is extremely generous of you! I'm ready whenever! (I desperately want a new os on my phone)

Thank you! I had no idea what all that talk about modems was. Will I still be able to use 4g and all that jazz once I....do something with that modem? How do you flash google apps? Will google apps be able to update itself in the future or will I always have to check online for new flashes?
And for that matter, will my OS update itself or will I have to keep reflashing my phone all the time?

I could search and copy links for you but you can also search. I told you where to find the ICS modem in my previous post. Go there. There are basic instructions for how to flash a modem in the same place. Revolt is AOKP (not AOSP, not TouchWiz). You flash GApps after you flash the ROM (follow guide for the ROM). It's one package. You can then update like normal through Play Store. ROMs do not update themselves (lol) but there's nothing to say you have to update it after you're satisfied with whatever you land on.
Like I said, the page you listed to begin with has all of the steps, even links to the files, and so you can just do what that says to do. Add to that list the two things I said were missing (flash an ICS modem, and learn how to verify MD5 check sum for a good download) and you'll be good to go... Okay?:good:
Just to update everyone I just recently updated to revolt rom with the extensive help of godzilla61!
I had been reading a lot and searching for what I could, but it was absolutely critical that this work perfectly, and the first time. I only have one phone for personal use AND work. Not only that but I am camping in Glacier National Park in a couple weeks and needed a good emergency phone just in case.
Anyways, Revolt Rom 4+ is working PERFECTLY. Data is just fine, gps works, and everything went extremely smoothly!
For anybody else who needs help and stumbled upon this forum post I used the following things.

This was my revolt rom download link: ReVolt-JB-d710-Official-20130713.zip - 167.15 MB (I used Official-20130713.zip)

Here is my modem: www.rwilco12.com/Files/Devices/Samsung Galaxy S2 (Sprint) (SPH-D710)/Modems/ICS/ZIP/FL24.zip
