So by now we all know that Jelly Bean 4.2 has been released and has already been pushed to a lot of Galaxy Nexus devices around the globe. Myself, like many others, have a Galaxy Nexus on the Verizon network. I'm just as eager as anyone to get the 4.2 update but I do realize it's going to be a while before Verizon officially has the 4.2 update for us. What are my options as of now and the near future? Are there any ROMs I can use with the Verizon network and run 4.2? I'm currently running 4.1.1 JRO03O, so would I have to find a way to update to 4.1.2 before I could update to 4.2? Also, if I am able to find a ROM that will get me to 4.2, what features do I have to worry about losing? Many features of my phone I hold close, so I'd like full disclosure on which features could be compromised. I really appreciate your time for helping me!
Also, please be as detailed as possible with your responses - I imagine there are many others that view the forums like myself, looking for the answers to these questions without having to read through multiple 100+ page threads, finding answers bit by bit. A lot of people are running stock JB 4.1.1 on VZW network like myself and could benefit from these answers. Thanks so much guys!
go check the verizon dev forum. thats your best bet.

You could just flash the 4.1.2 Takju firmware then wait a couple of hours and recieve it, thats what I did and I recieved it within 2 hours if you are really impatient.

I would NOT recommend doing this to your VZW Nexus.

I appreciate the simplicity if your answers, but I've been in the Verizon dev forum for a while now. I continue to read through thread after thread, but I want definitive answers. Please link me to the threads in the Verizon dev forum of ROMs that would work for me please. I created this thread so that others who were in the same situation as me could find the answers they need quickly, without having to browse through the verizon dev forum for hours and still feel unsure about flashing a rom. Again, if you don't mind, just link me to some of the threads you feel are important in relation to my situation. I'm more than happy to read through the thread, every single page. I just want to have a little assurance in the ROM I'm loading onto my Nexus. I need to make sure I don't need to run a 4.1.2 ROM first or if I can go straight from 4.1.1 to 4.2. etc etc Thanks guys

so you want to be spoonfed because you cannot read the title of the threads?
if you're replacing the system (which you are if you're flashing a rom) it doesnt matter what version you were on.
there are a couple 4.2 ROMs out already. they are all a little finnicky. my suggestion is to wait a couple days for the bugs to be worked out. as far as i know, some of the things not working last i checked was.
google location, go Google Now isn't working
photosphere was crashing in the gallery (although i was able to use it just now)
swype typing was not working (i have a 4.2 transformation package that i flashed and got it working)
overall, it is pretty stable with very few issues.
as for features missing from what you currently have or want, i dont know. its just Stock android 4.2 for right now.
lock screen widgets
photosphere
quick settings
new clock app
new Google apps (calendar, gmail with pinch to zoom ect)
its all there.
Flash CM10, it has a built in update checker so you will be good to go when they drop a 4.2 nightly.
Thanks for all the information! I guess I'll wait a week or so and see which ROM is out at that point and has the best reviews for stability and functionality. And yes, I can read the thread titles... but when you click on thread after thread and they were all started MONTHS ago, they aren't much help for an update that came out days ago. And also, none of the thread titles say anything about 4.2... sure, they say JB, but JB is 4.1.1, 4.1.2 and 4.2 so that doesn't help much either. That's why I asked. Also because in the VZW development forum it says DONT ASK QUESTIONS so... where else would I go? Isn't that the point of a Q&A forum? To answer questions and not go around being a smart ** to people just looking for help? Like seriously?

That is IF you want CM and the potential bugs that come with nightly builds.
does anyone know that status of Miracast on the Galaxy Nexus?
Hello Xda users,
I used to have an account and be pretty active on here, went to go log in and Bazinga!!
Oh well no biggie... I am back up. I am currently running a Sprint s3 and loving it, had almost every sprint smart phone/pda since day one.
I am tying to get a rom up and going, haven't cooked one in a while. Any tips pointers or new methods would be appreciated. I am probably going to start doing what I used and find roms that I enjoy and see if I cant link up with the developer and help move the rom in a better direction.
Currently I am running the [ROM] Unofficial Synergy ROM Port "working multiwindow with very little issues.I have figured out a way around all the kernel/signal loss issues and the reported force closes. Went to the post to try and assist other users in fixing the problem.....and BAM!
I don't have sufficient privileges to post in that forum. .:crying: Don't get me wrong it is a good way to keep "NOOBS" from asking the same questions over and over.. and the people that haven't figured out how to properly use the search feature. But wow 10 post?!?!?
Well one post down and 9 to go.
Look forward to seeing you all in the forums and feel free to send message and or questions about your issues and I will try to help you as much as possible.
Thnaks,

Hello all
Sorry i know this has been answered before probably but the search feature in the forums hasnt been working all day for me
Anyway im wondering is it possible to get the Quick reply feature as a downloadable mod or something as seen in CM 10.1 and such in the notifications menu? I know you can download GO SMS, Handscent and such but as far as i know, none of them allow you to 'quick reply' directly from the notifications planel
Currently i have the Android Revolution HD 25 ROM installed and thats the only feature im missing
Thanks for all your help

that it is just to let you know also you posted this in the wrong thread should have been q&a
I am really in love with the AOKP Dirty Unicorns ROM for this phone. The only Issue I am having is getting the WiFi Tether App to work.
The log shows that Ad-hoc fails. Are there any work around or fixes for this issue? 4G tethering is my only source of interwebz. And I would love to use that ROM. If anyone know anything please let me know. Thanks

Not flaming...but if you would have searched in xda or just scrolled through the Q&A section. I just posted a fix for another member. Here is the link to that thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2414035 ... The link to a WiFi tethering app is in the second or third post.. It will require a little setup to work.. If you need help you can post back and I'll tell you my setup.. Hope this helps..
Believe me I have searched before and never found an answer. I had this issue before with other ROMs.
Figured I ask and someone would have the answer and they did.
Thank you very much I can now use my S2 again
Where did you find the version of this app btw?

I was searching for another member and ran across a drop box link..gave it a shot..lucky is all/or maybe the fact I looked for an hour straight...lol. Who knows...just glad I seen it..Glad it helped... And ignore my comment about searching.. I wrote that during a battle with the girlfriend.. I was hating everybody. Asking questions is why xda is here.. I mean, way else than people with like interest exchanging ideas and whatever..Thanks for taking it in stride and not getting offended..
Well, since XDA limits users with <10 posts from posting in the dev. section, I will post this here (grumble grumble...wish I could port my SDX posts over here....). Hopefully if a mod deletes this thread (fully expecting) it'll still count.
Just wanted to give a BIG thanks to the devs at team d3rp. Not only did you bring us a stock ZVC rooted (running now and love it), you are constantly updating your SuperG2 development thread and listening to user feedback (not to mention clear instructions!). Thank you for your hard work and I can't wait to see what you guys will bring going forward.
Speaking of SuperG2, (maybe someone who CAN post in the dev section will post this...... ): Will there be the inclusion of the G3 keyboard and Notifications (or the option to add them)?
(one more post down.... I don't like to post if I don't have anything meaningful to add to the thread)

Here to help. They are putting the g3 keyboard in. Notifications are not sure. I'll check with them and get an answer back.
Glad to have you aboard team d3rp.

Kudos to them too. Loving stock rooted. No need for anything else.
I know what you mean, Team derp has been very supportive to the G2 community
Don't be worried about them jumping to the g3, either. They like the g2 and can get the little adjustments software wise over if need be.
