i dont need more than 8gb
its a class 10 should be fast right ?
Yes it will work, and class 10s are the fastest I believe, not sure if there's higher than that but yeah, it'll work no problem.
Yes, It will work. Class 10 is the fastest you can go as far as SD Cards are concerned. :victory:
the reason i even consider buying this cause im having problem recording video on FullHD resolution onto the phones internal memory
i read several threads that suggested a faster sd card is needed
kinda stuped isnt it ? that the internal memory isnt fast enough for a built it feature in the phone ?

The internal memory is good enough for HD recording. Only problem is you'll run out of space if your using the 16gb. I had no problem recording in HD with my 32gb internal memory.

The internal memory is fastest for HD video recording. Transfer all your stuff to your sd (Music Videos Pics) and then use the internal memory for camera and video.

Hi all,
I've read in a few places that if you want to run apps from your SD card that you should have a class 6 SD card. Can anyone explain why this is? I've currently got the one that came with the phone, which is class 2. Just want to understand why I need it before splashing out the cash
Thanks
It's all about speed. Class 6 is faster than Class 4 is faster than Class 2. If you are happy with the performance with your Class 2 card, no need to splash out the cash.
yeah its just about speed, the higher the class the faster the r/w speed, you dont really need a class 6 these days tho, maybe in the old days of the g1/hero but not now
There's quite a bit of discussion on this and I'm honestly quite confused over this as well.
The higher classes just means faster write speeds but same read speeds. Certainly, this shouldn't affect the performance of apps that are installed on the card; unless the card is being used for swap memory.
Anyway, I've heard some users with 32GB microSD card (only available in class 2) using app2sd with no ill-effects. I've recently purchased one myself and will be swapping it out later tonight.
newbie on Android here.....may I ask....Im currently using a 16Gb mem card....If I change it to a 32Gb, what are the files that I need to copy to the new card, so that the apps/games currently installed will still run? I noticed there are so many folders inside my memory card now.....which one should I transfer to my new card? Or should I need to re-install the apps?
thanks..

are you using apps2sd? or just running a stock like rom?
9 out of 10 users on this website would not be able to tell the difference in speed by running apps on a class 4 or class 6 cards.

Before the usual flamers get to write on this topic to say high-class cards are useless, it really comes down I think to the time you have available to wait for USB transfers. On a class 2 it takes AGES. I bought a class10 16gb and it's an absolute life changer (i do have a lot of public transport so I make heavy use of my phone as a video player)

Another reason to have a class 4 or faster card in the phone is to have reliable 720p 25fps video recording. On my Class 2 with a2sd+ recording stutters.
thanks for the responses. from what i read previously, it talked about class 6 cards being less likely to be unmounted and causing problems to running applications. does this mean anything to anyone?!

This is the reason when I eventually get the money I'll be getting a 16GB class 4 or 6 card. At the moment 720p is fairly pointless to me since I can't get smooth recordings with my SD card.
Have no issues with my 16Gb Class-2 sdcard. R/W speed enough to handle 720p recording and rockplayer playing avis perfectly.

Are you running A2SD or a2sd+ on your phone? If not, that may be the reason.
The more apps and widgets and stuff is moved to the sd, the more r/w-access happens to the card, which has serious impact on video recording. I really wish the internal memory of the Desire wasn't so small. What the heck did HTC think by putting only 560 MByte internal storage into their android flagship? The SGS has 5 GiBytes!

Incorrect!
The class of the card doesn't tell you the speed of a card - it tells you the *minimum* sustained write speed on a card which is completely unfragmented
A good quality class 2 card can and often will be faster than a poor quality class 6 card.
The two Sandisk Class 2 card I use both write at around 7.5mb/s, which is faster than the class 6 minimums.
Regards,
Dave

That's interesting info! Would explain why I have far fewer problems than most people report with 720p recording onto my class2 card.
So the real answer is: Benchmark your write speed before making any big purchasing decisions on SD cards.

Hello,
I've use the good mod created by mattiadj (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772234) and it's mean work!
I've so actually some games into my Extsdcard (that my phone see as internalcard), but this games have sometimes some lags.
I think it's because the games are installed into the extsdcard. I've right?
In this case, it's maybe because my Extsdcard is a "simple" card, not a samsung card?
If i change my Extcard, this lags will be again present? If no, what Extsdcard (32go) can you advice me?
thanks, and sorry for my english.
Huh?

I need to explain?
So your afraid your games are lagging because you have a "cheap, subpar" micro sd card?
Possibly but doubtful...
If your games require a internet connection , could be a slow connection.
Btw horribly explained.
Sent from Pluto.
The way I understand it is that apps that's are on the external card are slower, no matter, what than ones on the internal card. So even though you have a sub par SD card moving to a higher quality probably wouldn't give you a noticeable difference, depending on the size and demands of the game.
If you did decide to get a better quality SD card then I would go with one of the sandisk cards as opposed to a Samsung SD card. Everyone has their own preference for SD card manufacturers but I've always stuck with sandisk and haven't had a problem.

When are they going to release the 64 GB Galaxy Note 2 ? At least when Apple say that there is a 64 GB version, we actually see it in real life.
If Samsung is not going to release it, why even announce that there is a 64 GB version. Samsung may as well say that there is a 16/32/64/128/256 GB version of the Galaxy Note 2 during its event to make it look good.
Gn2 forums state Samsung isn't going to bother with the 64, and likely focus on the 16 only.

Even if you don't believe everything posted in a forum, considering that the 64GB S3s are just now slowly starting to trickle out in Europe, I wouldn't be optimistic on that ever happening.
Wait toss doesn't have 64? Kidding, but maybe the onboard chip coukd be removed and replaced with a 64gb model. Couple of guys I work with could do it and they have the tools. Probably safer to put a 64gb class 10 microsd in it. Maybe in a year, after warranty is out, I'll have them take a stab at it.

I would imagine that a class 10 64GB card would not be a good idea as a replacement to the built-in 16GB flash; I think the onboard flash is higher speed than any SD card we would install, even if you could get the Note II's storage controller and such to recognize the new chip properly, and do the connections properly.
Sounds like a cool project nonetheless
Try this, it will switch your external sd card to your internal sd card. So if you have a 64gb card you can essentially have a 64gb samsung note 2.

How are things running? The internal storage on the note 2 is about triple the speed of an extreme sd card running at 95mb/s. Note 2 internal read write is just over 220 mb/s. If you use a class 10 sd card, those are only 25-30mb/s. If your playing games with huge loads like Nova 3 or move huge amounts of video/photos, it's likely going to take a huge hit to speed if you use the SD card as internal storage.
It's like desktop PCs - many people use smaller ssds for the OS and the bigger but often slower drives for heavy storage. In this case then internal is like an ssd and the SD card is like a data drive.
Can you compare the transfer rate while moving a big video to and from the internal memory compared to moving the same video to the SD card mounted as the internal drive? Curious as to your results.

My point is not that iphone has better storage or not. What I want to say is Samsung stated that there is a 64 GB version of the Galaxy Note 2 and they don't release it at the same time as the release of the 16 GB. Apple actually release the 16/32/64 GB at the same time.
The funny thing is, Samsung actually can make its own flash memory. It does not have to depend on another company.

To be honest i cant tell of any difference in speed in day to day use. Apps load fine and just as fast as the internal sd. The core apps and Stock Rom are installed on the ram, so there wouldnt be any difference really with using the device. As for transferring videos back and forth i haven't really done and tests, but than again i would always store larger media files on the 64gb sd anyway. I do highly recommend this mod especially for someone looking for more capacity. i had this mod on my gs3 and no problems then, and i have no problems now. If anyone is holding out for the 64gb note 2 just look at the gs3 situation. You have to remember you arent removing the internal sd they are just swapped for each other in the OS. So the internal is now the external. Both are accessible just like normal.
I'm running a 64GB microSDXC and it's just fine and dandy. I agree they shouldn't announce it and then not have it available though.

You should never be worried about the internal memory size - even 8GB should be enough, AS LONG AS the phone comes with EXTERNAL SD CARD SLOT WHICH ACCEPTS LARGE SD CARDS. Having the external SD card is NOT necessarily about expanding your storing capacity (although a 64GB does that generously) but rather about having your information safe, significantly less prone to accidental formatting/erasing. Most of the time when you do a factory reset your internal storage is also formatted - do you want that to happen when you stored tons of important information? Of course not!! Worried about read/write speed? Buy a high quality, class 10 external SD card and I promise you won't see any drop in speed. Only use the internal storage for files that the system really looks for and requires to be placed inhere - otherwise, EVERYTHING else, especially large media files, backups and personal files should be kept onto the EXTERNAL SD Card. There are tons of advantages doing so and all those messages companies like Apple, HTC (newly adopted this stupid model), or others alike who try to influence and convince you that external SD cards are obsolete & cloud storage is better, all that is simply marketing BS. Buy Samsung because they didn't aligned themselves to the BS, because you can have a super generous 16GB internal storage and up to 64GB external storage. Do you need more than 80GB on the go? Then reconsider...really! Maybe you shouldn't download all the internet today, leave some for tomorrow when they'll make you pay for all that "free" cloud storage that you kept cramming onto today. Be open minded, understand how things work and do what's good for YOU not for the big corporations!
Several game loft games and the internal storage is gone... some people do that ya know
And most people dont know about all the hacks to get around this limitation.

I purchased a 128GB Sandisk card originally for my LG G3 which failed shortly after getting my Note 4. Sandisk offered to even exchage it or I can wait for the new 64GB extreme pro model soon to come out also as an exchange. Should I go with the larger 128GB card rated at 48mbs or go for the new 64GB UHS-3 card rated at 95mbs. I do not need 128GB of storage but will my phone have any better SD performance with the faster card? Here is the link for the new card and the old one. Advice appreciated

I've sseen other threads here around xda asking if anyone has figured out a way to move files to their SD card without root, and the answers they get are basically, 'no'.
im not the best to answer your question, but seeing as you have links in hand and are probably itching to buy it, i figured i needed to throw that out before you actually buy something you may not have much use for.

I currently have an older SanDisk 32gb in my note 4 that works for storing music and pictures taken with camera. I think the issue you are referring to is moving apps and data from phone to SD which is a problem with kitkat that should be fixed with root or with lollipop update. I do not store my downloaded apps to my external SD card. My question is will my phone utilize the read speed of the pro model card as far as loading my pics, music, and large video files? Also will it write my pictures and videos taken with phone as fast as the card is rated for or does the micro sd bus speed on note 4 have a limit for read/write speeds.

Hi Moto ppl, today I get a brand new Micro SD Class 10 of 64GB of sweet storage space, and I dunno what to do with it, wirth this I mean since Motorola knows better and don't force-close the option to use SD as internal memory like Sam**** or LG. I dunno if it's worth to use my new memory as Internal or just leave it as a regular external SD to my media files as usual.
On purpose I get the class 10 version to get faster transfer speed from which I look up it has around 45mb/s so it's not bad at all.
Reading a lot of this feature some ppl may say that is not fully-recommendable because the phone gets lag-down so it reduces his overall performance even when you use the faster SD you can get since it's not part of the main board of the phone.
Other ppl says that when you get a Class 10+, UHS, etc SD you will be fine.
I want to ask you guys if somebody already try this on your Moto Z Play I know I will get around 91GB of total space wich is a lot, but since I PLAY A LOT of games, leaving those 64GB to my gamepedia is really sweet. But I dunno If will be against having performance issues?
Regardless I will try it and post my first tests here over time.
Cheers!
