Dropbox only 2Gb - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

1) I installed Dropbox and I was expecting 50Gb but only got 2Gb. Is there a way to get the remaining storage?
2) It seems very slow. Is that normal?
3) Can you access it through a rooted file manager like root explorer?
Thanks.

When I did it they had me complete 5 steps of 7 listed in order to get the 50Gbs. Steps included taking a tutorial, referring a friend, etc. Took me about 5 mins to complete.

All I had to do was to log into my dropbox with my new GS3 and I received the bonus space.

Invite more people to increase the space on dropbox.

I had a dropbox account prior to my SGS3 purchase. I've logged into my dropbox account with my S3 but don't see a way to get the free 50gb.
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks for any help

I did not do anything special. I did not even know about the bonus until it happened. I simply used the dropbox app on my phone to connect to my existing dropbox account. Shortly after that I received an email telling me about the bonus.

Got it to work but later found the e-mail. I had to install dropbox onto a second computer to qualify.

Don't forget folks that the S3 bonus space is only temporary. Just wanted to remind you guys of that. So if you intend to keep dropbox for all your cloud storing needs be aware it is only for about a year or two. After that I believe you would have to become a paying customer or loose the bonus storage. The S3 bonus storage is like forty something gigs from what I can remember. Sorry I don't have the specifics but you can check from your account online and see how much it is and when it expires.
An alternative if you need storage for your pics and vids is photobucket. It automatically uploads pics and vids, dropbox only does pics as of now, and you get unlimited storage with no expiration.

The bonus is for two years. I figure that by then I will either be buying s new phone (and hoping a similar deal is on) our that there are other options.

Box.net giving 50GB of storage to all Android users for next month

For anyone that hasn't been able to get in on the 50GB giveaways from Box.net, they are now offering anyone who downloads their Android app and signs up in the next month 50GBs of cloud storage.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/02/23/box-for-android-receives-update-offers-all-android-users-50gb-of-free-cloud-storage/
The only drawback is that uploads are limited to 100MB.

Thanks Brian, it worked.
Worked for me. Thanks!
Worked for me as well! 50gb lifetime on my account
Good looking out, thanks!
Nice find... thank you!
just got mine too, now what to do with all this space, can i backup my entire phone to it somehow?
Thank you very much for the info, I will take an extra 50 GB any time +1
very nice!!!
Good looking out!
The 100MB file size limit is very disappointing and I hope they change it in the near future. What's stunning is that the earlier version of this promotion, with the HP TouchPad for example, 50GB accounts also came with a 1GB file size limit. I can confirm this because I have since commandeered my friend's account with those limits.
There was also a way to to get 50GB under the LG Android promotion (we just edited build.prop, which is what the box.net app checked), but that too came with the 100MB limit.
It's great to have 50GB lifetime storage for free, but I really wish they upped the limit to >300MB. I find myself using my Dropbox (24GB storage, 300MB limit via mobile, unlimited file size via desktop). Write to BOX and ask for bigger limit, or post in their forums!
Sweet i'll take 50, thank you
Phonearena pointed me in that direction but still got it. Good lookn out

Too bad they want you to pay to use their file sync program. Guess I'll be sticking with dropbox. Thanks for the link though.

Yes, I appreciate 50GB free storage, but without sync it is pretty useless. The point for me of having cloud storage is to backup my computer and have access to all my files in the cloud from my portable devices and to keep the files in sync from all these devices. I certainly don't need 50GB of storage to upload a few files from my phone. So will keep using dropbox, until I can figure away to sync.
Hate to sound ungrateful, it just is not that useful at this point.

How do i get my 25GB Dropbox?

How do i get my 25GB dropbox? I setup a new account on the phone when i set it up but i still only have the minimum
Same here, I logged into the app when i turned on the phone and I havent received my 23gb or any email. I installed a hacked XDA members app that game me 23gb before I got the phone but the next day Dropbox had removed the 23gb!
you have to invite people to join drop box in order to gain more space. Based on the email I got they just upped the Max amount of space you can get. You can also gain some space by uploading photos if you have not already.

You're meant to get 25gb of storage (or 23gb if you're already an existing user) when you buy a HTC One Handset.
You get an email few hours later.
Thanks for supercharging your HTC device with Dropbox! To get the most out of your Dropbox and claim your extra 23 GB of space, visit our Getting Started guide !

That might have something to do with it; dropbox have said that they're going to be removing the space from people who used apps which spoofed the One X to get the extra 23GB, so if they've done that to your account it's probably not going to automatically re-add the space just because it's got another install claiming to be from a One X. You might need to contact them.

try going to https://www.dropbox.com/account#manage

4 days and still no increase for me.
i got 2 mails from dropbox, followed the link in the one that says "follow this to claim your 23GB", landed in a 7-step process which you have to complete to get 250MB (as it says)...
didn't complete it btw, i'm on 4/7 or something
so what's with this mess?
1. do you get automatically 25GB after you create an account from the phone?
2. do you get 25GB after you complete that retarded 7-step thing instead of the displayed 250MB?
I got the mail 5 mins after I installed on my Desktop.
I take it back, it just worked.
Now I just need my battery life sorted.

AH LOL!!!
i completed one more step -for a total of 5 out of 7 - (create a shared folder) and i got a popup on my desktop saying "Good News: the space has been increased to 25GB"
nevertheless, a good initiative from HTC&Dropbox but executed like ****.
LE: got another mail:
"Congrats on becoming a Dropbox Guru! We've awarded you 23 GB of bonus space for the next 24 months! You now have 25.75 GB on Dropbox. To get even more space, check out our upgrade options. Thanks again for supercharging your HTC device with Dropbox!"
I still have not got email from dropbox or increase in space after 2 days.
I'd like to ask you guys what can we used the 25GB for?
I currently have 7.2GB throught their beta program and only used 1.4GB. I mean we can not stream music with dropbox, got Google Music for that. We can not stream video without downloading it 1st, I've PLEX setup for that as well. Also the size is too small to be used as backup for files on PC.
So any ideas on how to use the 25GB space?

How many of the getting started tasks have you done? It really seems that it's to do with going past five of them that activates it.

6 out of the 7, done them before getting the One X, only one left is to invite someone. Maybe there is a bug when most of the tasks are already done.
I'm not really bothered about the extra space on dropbox, but will send them an email if it still not working after a week.
I already setup a dropbox account a few weeks ago in preparation for when I got my one x - did the usual tricks to get some extra space to start with. As soon as I logged into dropbox on my one x, I got an email instantly advising me of the extra 23GB -great service imo.
Just need something to upload now lol - but of a useless feature for me at the moment now I think about it but I'm sure I will make use of it in the future.

dropbox - no free 23GB

anyone else had the same issue as me with dropbox not getting the 23gb free space?
it is a brand new phone, and i have only signed into it with my one dropbox account.
signed into dropbox and still only 8gb. emailed them and not had a reply.
any help would be appreciated.
There is another main thread regarding this. It takes a few days to get the extra storage but does happen eventually.
Do a search on the One X forums for dropbox.
Use the search man, there's already a topic about that. Your answer should be in there:

you also need to make sure you have completed the 'getting started' section on the website. although, if you already have 8gb, i suspect you already have...

You need to log into dropbox.com and go through all the getting started steps. After this you instantly get an extra 23gb of storage. At least this is what happened for me.
I completed the GS guide ages ago. I am still without the extra storage.
I have contacted support who responded with a canned response. "Complete the "Getting Started" guide", which I stated I had in the original email.
That was over a week ago, no response yet, nor do I have the storage.

I did it with my existing account too and on the first attempt of going through the 'Getting Started' guide, no extra storage for a few days.
Then I re-opened the link from the same original email, just clicked some of the items not 'ticked' on the list and got an instant message saying storage had been increased.

Did you download the hacked dropbox .apk from a few weeks ago? I did and I havent gotten my extra 23GB, that's something to consider
No need to complain.
1. Ensure you have a Dropbox account created within Settings > Accounts and sync
2. Upload a picture or document from your phone.
3. You will get an email "Get free Dropbox space" stating "to claim your extra 23 GB of space, complete five steps from your Getting Started Guide". Once you click the link and complete 5 steps you get another email.
4. Email subject "Dropbox bonus space received!" confirmation sent.

ahhh right enough the one that won't upgrade had 6.25Gb on it too
I had a similar problem. I remember getting an email about receiving extra space when I was on my sensation running a sense 4 ROM. I didn't claim the space, and when I got my One X I didn't get an email about claiming the extra 23gb. Maybe my chance was wasted when running sense 4 on my sensation.
Anyway, I just set up Dropbox with my secondary Gmail account and got the space straight away. Everything synced over from my existing dropbox folder on my laptop.
I wouldn't be too concerned about not getting the 23gb on top of your 8gb anyway... The 23gb is only for 2 years so I wouldn't get too attached.
Edit: looking back through my emails, 3gb of the 7gb I have on my first dropbox account is from supercharging my sensation, and it expires after a year anyway. Defo worth just setting up the new account and getting the 23gb.

Yeah, I knew the deal lasts for 2 years, but I was wondering when or if they'd stop offering this deal for GS3 buyers. Thanks anyway, man.
anyone know what happens to your memory after 2 years? do your files get deleted? or if you lets say used up all 50 gigs and you free up 2 gigs then they basically take it away and now your down o 48 gigs?
https://www.dropbox.com/help/333/en
If your paid account expires or is downgraded, or the space granted to your account by a promotion expires, all of the files in your Dropbox folder will still be available to you on your computers, phones, and via the Dropbox website. However, Dropbox will only sync the amount of space allotted to your Dropbox account. This means that new files added to your Dropbox will not sync to other computers or be available online until the amount of disk space used in your Dropbox drops below the amount of Dropbox space allotted to your account.
For example, if you have more than 18 GB worth of files in your Dropbox and you downgrade your account to a Dropbox Free (up to 18 GB - 2 GB + 500 MB per referral) account, all files in your Dropbox will remain in your Dropbox folder and you will be able to view and access them online via the Dropbox website. Once you move files from your Dropbox or add new files, they will no longer sync or be available online until the amount of file space used falls below your Dropbox space. This remains true even if you re-add a file that was previously synced.

Dropbox 50 For 2 Years Offer

When I first received my SM-P600 I remember tapping on the Dropbox app and something came up about signing up the offer. At the time I was still exploring the tablet so I just exited out of the app. Now when I launch Dropbox it just wants me to sign into Dropbox or create an account... nothing about the free offer. I looked over the original email I received from Samsung about all the free stuff that came with the tablet and for Dropbox they just said to launch the application. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my free Dropbox?

When you sign into the website you should see "Get Free Space" at the top click on it. It'll give you some steps to get the free 50GB but I think the only thing that really matters is installing the program on your computer.
Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Yea, I logged into the email account that I used when signing up for Dropbox and it contained an email directing me to the Dropbox website where they had seven items listed. You had to complete 3 (maybe 4) of the seven.
Somewhat disappointing you have to jump through hoops to get what Samsung promised but it wasn't too bad. Wow Dropbox really does what you recommending their services to family and friends. Guess that's how you grow.
I've never really had a cloud based service before so it will be interesting seeing how it fits my workflow. I really like to upload all my digital photos, videos, books, and music but especially with RAW files for photos and digital video the space requiremens really go up. For me I'd need about 3TB. Google drive is cheaper than Dropbox but still, 4TB is $200/month. Really would add up fast. I guess cloud storage is like insurance, you hate paying for it but if something happens you'll miss your digital media when it's gone forever.
Thanks again for all your answers.
Okay dropbox is good but I prefer copy.com
The free 50gb Dropbox from samsung is okay. however if you have multiple samsung devices that comes with free dropbox they wont add up.
I have a Note 2, Note 3, Note 10.1 and Note 10.1 2014, so I should have a total of 200gb right? Wrong!
Below is the email support I got from Dropbox
Stephanie Stein, Jul 26 04:39 pm (PDT):
Hi Glen,
Thanks for contacting Dropbox Support, and I sincerely apologize for the delay.
Unfortunately, multiple promotions of the same type cannot be stacked on one account. When your current promotion expires you will be unable to tie another instance of that promotion type to your account.
We cannot redeem multiple credits for one account, but you are welcome to give the credit to a friend or family member so that they can redeem the promotional space. They can do so by logging into their account from the eligible device.
I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Best,
Stephanie
