[Q] Keep rebooting...soft bricked? Help please... - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm new to android. I did root my note 2 using the instruction by dr.ketan. I used method#1, flashing with changelu's cwm6-root-note2.tar, everything was successful. However, I can not boot into cwm recovery. I tried press and hold vol up+home+power when the text samsung galaxy note ii appeared let go the power, but nothing happen. My device would reboot again. I tried to use rom manager to reboot to the recovery, the device would show the samsung galaxy note ii and keep rebooting. Any tips on accessing the cwm recovery?
As I could access the download mode just fine, I will tried to reinstall the stock rom again and hope that it will be normal again.
I used stock rom, namely the N7100XXALIE_N7100OLBALI9_THL, and changelu's cwm6-root-note2.tar
One more thing about OTA, from what I understand, if I rooted with stock rom then using TriangleAway to reset the counter.
I will still have System Status: Custom which I read that it could be set to Official by using cwm then clear cache and wipe the device.
With binary counter: no, everything else is official, will I be able to update using OTA?
Thank you,
beau

Have you reset counter?

to boot into recovery it's necessary to press the power button only till the "galaxy note2" screen comes up, then you have to hold the vol button and the center button until the recovery shows up. maybe you'll have to try it one or two times to get the proper timing, after you've done it a few times you're into it!
regarding the reboot issue:
i had this on several devices sometimes, i fixed it always by reflashing kernel and recovery. so don't panic, its no brick for sure! had this today when i swapped my note2 for another one (due to display flaws, same old story as with sgs2 and note1). after rooting the new one i could not shut down the phone, after restoring the nandroid all was fine again!
hope that helped!

Update on my status:
I just finished reflash the stock rom. Everthing seems normal now. I just saw in dr.ketan thread that someone else also had the same issue, can't boot into recovery after using triangleway to reset the counter.
Thanks dr.ketan & TML1504 :good:

But i can't fix my problem.my phone always logo hang on startup.i try to recovery mode but phone not getting to recovery.
I think its another soft brick.i try kerner, cwm recovery & 5 different version of firmware but ODIN just says fail & there is no pit partition.
4 times Pm to dr.ketan but he also Silent.
What to do now?

[Q] Glide wont reboot stright into Recovery

I am not new to the concept of rooting and loading a custom rom. This is the 3rd android phone that I have bothered with. However it is the first one I have had to use Odin to root or push files to.
I have used CarpeNoctem's writeup on how to root and utkanos' CWMR port writeup. Ofter verifying I had root, I decided I would try out Carpe's OsiMood. No problem right? Here is where I am wondering what if anything went wrong on the previous steps.
I made a back up ofter finally getting it to recovery mode, and when I tried flashing the new rom, it would not complete the process.
As it sits, when I choose recovery from CWM it reboots to the android with triangle screen(see attached video). What concerns me is the lack of fluidity into the recovery, the fact that it loads in only after the battery is removed and the phone is turned back on and lastly that I cannot flash a new rom.
It appears as though I need more posts to add my link for youtube.
Please add standard youtube weblink before this to watch the video.

What would you recommend my first action be?
Thanks,
Steve
This also quite unfortunate for ROM manager, "somewhat", not working fully for the Glide (yet). I can't really go into 3e/CWM recovery with the app, but manually (volume down + power/lock button) has no problems. This also happens on my Captivate (SGH-I896/7), I need to restart the device for a second time to boot into recovery. As per your flashing issues, you might need to mount /system manually and then flash the ROM, when it fails, try and try again, always happens to me from stock rogers ROM. Also, if you have Titanium Backup, it now supports reboot device features (recovery and hard reboot)
Thanks for your insight. I tried volume down and power before but when I saw the samsung logo pop up I figured it wouldn't work.
I will try flashing again and report back. Thanks again.

Tried flashing again, worked great. If only the glide had more support. Lol.
Currently running OsiMood.

My glide does not boot. I can get into Download Mode. I can NOT get into de recovery mode. I think my NAND is corrupted.
How can I mount the /system partition? Because I flashed too many roms with ODIN, but nothing, still not booting, I get stuck in the samsung logo.
Use Odin to reflash recovery, you backups should still be there unless like you say maybe they got corrupted as well, but its worth a shot.

I've already flashed the stock recovery, the CWM, a lot of kernels, even I tried to flash the kernel and bootloader of the Galaxy S II, but nothing.
I'm starting to think that maybe is a hardware problem. Hope not, but I'm not moving foward.
If you havent already, pull out the sim and sd card.
Reboot your pc and download a fresh up to date Odin.
So when you flash it says it successful and then just doesnt boot?
I had a boot loop once ,had me stumped and it turned out to be my sd card was poached and caused the loop.

Exactly... It goes all over the process bar, says succesfull, the phone turns off, and nothing. The phone not even restart itself, I have to remove the battery, put it back again, and then it turns on, but just to show me the samsung logo.
I've used the ODIN version 1.85 and the new one 3.04. But nothing. This is so frustating.

Please, tell me there is a solution...
There are one alternative to boot
1. Shut down and then restart phone in recovery mode. For the Samsung Captivate Glide, this required pressing the power, volume down and home keys all at the same time.
2. The initial screen which appears gives you a choice of loading a replacement OS (volume up) or entering recovery mode (volume down). Note you have to hold the volume down key for several seconds before the recovery mode menu appears.

[Q] [P5210] As soon as it boots to Stock Recovery, it Reboots!

I've got a Galaxy Tab P5210 that's stuck in a constant boot loop. I flashed it with the correct stock firmware from SamMobile using Odin, but it fails to boot properly. It automatically boots to the stock recovery screen, but the problem is it will instantly reboot as soon as it reaches this screen. I see the dead android with the red triangle and exclamation point for just a second, and it instantly reboots. Is that normal? I don't think that's normal. From what I've been reading, this screen is supposed to stay there until you push the volume keys to bring up a menu, but it reboots so fast that I don't have a chance to even push anything.
I've tried flashing it with other recovery images. I tried using CWM, and it almost worked. With that, as soon as the tablet booted, I'd see the CWM splash screen, and it would instantly reboot. Similarly to how it's booting now but with stock recovery.
I'd like to point out that I've never messed with anything like this before. I work in a computer/small electronic repair shop and a customer brought it to me. She ended up getting into stock recovery and a friend of hers did some serious damage in there which prevented it from booting properly. Normally we don't mess with things like this but, with it being how it was, I figured there was no way I could make it even worse than it already is by working on it. I thought if I flashed the original stock firmware back to it, it would fix it, but that looks like a no-go since it's still booting the same way it was when she first brought it to me.
Is this thing completely broken or is there still hope for it?
No - it should be recoverable. However - any data will most likely be lost.
When you flash with Odin, make sure only F. Reset Time is checked. Use Odin 3.07. Make sure again that firmware is correct before you flash. After it flashes, power off and then on again
Latest KK firmware for the US version of the 5210 is P5210UEU0CNK1_P5210XAR0CNK1_HOME.TAR
Good luck. If you're trying to root, then there are threads in the 10.1 Dev section that should help
M,
this firmware was always my goto for device recovery/restoration https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877490005046

Not interested in rooting, just wanna get the stock firmware back on. Maintaining data isn't a necessity, the customer just wants it back in working order. I tried using that firmware, but I had Auto-Reboot checked.
EDIT
Yeah, it's still doing the same thing. When I first boot it up post-firmware flash I see an Android with a loading bar underneath it, and then it reboots. When it boots again, I see the same Android and then it suddenly changes to the dead one with the red triangle. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong here with the button presses following the flash?
EDIT2
It looks to me like the stock recovery image is just broken, since the tablet just automatically reboots the instant it attempts to load it up. Flashing a new firmware replaces that though, so I don't know how or why it would even be corrupted. Odin reports no errors, so I don't know what's going on. And every guide I'm reading with fixing bootloops all say "go into stock recovery and clear the cache", but I can't even boot into stock recovery. It's like it's not even there. And I know it's not a power button issue causing it to shut down, I can power the device off fully with it, and it will stay off until I press it again. I'm banging my head against the desk here.
What if you flashed a TWRP recovery in Odin. Then if that's successful, boot into recovery and wipe/format everything except ext SD, Then try the ODIN flash again with filr your stock tar
I'm having the same problem and that didn't work for me. It shows the twrp splash screen and reboots. I'm looking for the .pit file it has to be the recovery partition right?

Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 bricked

Hey. Thought I should flash cyanogenmod 11 into my mom's phone. When I did it, realized that Ace couldn't connect to carrier for some reason. Anyways I decided to get back to stock GB. I've already tried to flash maybe four stock builds of GB and JB (they were all from "SamMobile") through Odin, but none of them really boot up, I get stuck at Samsung logo.
Recovery won't work, even if I flash a new one through odin ( f.e. this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2532591 )
Download mode does work.
I saw there was this 3-part GB installation file from a russian guy, which I should have used, but it's already deleted in "Yandex". I live in Lithuania, so I'm supposed to use SEB version of firmware. I was wondering could someone reupload it ?
I tried to fix Ace through Kies, but it says that GT-I8160 recovery isn't available for some reason...
Any answers greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
After flashing the sammobile rom with odin, if it doesn't boot, go to recovery (the original one coming with the original rom), and do a factory reset/wipe data. This helped for me.
The problem is that even if I try to enter recovery (power + vol up + home), it stays stuck at samsung logo
You can try to insist by continuing pressing the 3 buttons for recovery even if the phone reboot. If you're stuck in a boot loop, you can also try to remove the battery to switch it off and switch it on again by pressing the 3 buttons.
For me the odin flash of JB rom + recovery clean up always solved the problem. I don't know any other way.

Do the official ROMs (tar.md5) come with official recovery, or do I have to flash one seperately ?
The official ROM include an official recovery, you don't need to flash another one.
i too needed to go back to the stock from from cm11, because i cannot get wi-fi direct to work.
i flashed an xxmf1 rom, but when the phone rebooted, a message said samsung set up wizard has stopped, and i cannot get past it. this is even after doing a factory reset.
i went back to cm 11, and flashed the stock rom again. this time, the rom flashes in odin, but takes long to go from reset to pass, and windows now says hardware id is missing.
the phone goes black after the samsung logo, and cwm is still installed.
any help would be appreciated.
edit: fixed by flashing the three-part gb rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141930
Turns out I disconnected my Ace 2 too early (dammit). As soon as I saw "RESET" in odin, I thought it has finished flashing and I disconnected it before it goes into recovery and flashes everything. Never thought I could be that stupid.
Thanks for replies tho :good::good::good:

Flashing CWM issues

Today I received my GT-N7105 back from the repairers after having the screen replaced, or maybe the whole phone replaced as for some reason my phone was un-rooted! God knows why they would have to do that to replace the screen.
So I've just rooted again and installed ROM Manager and attempted to flash CWM recovery, according to the app it went fine, but when trying to boot to recovery using the ROM Manager app and the volume up + home + power method I'm met with the stock recovery.
I have tried using Odin to install CWM recovery but the device freezes on the boot screen every time I try, and freezes there when I take the battery out and attempt to boot the phone again. So I have to root again just to get the device to turn on.
Its been years since I flashed a custom recovery so tried following a couple guides, but no luck.
I want to flash CyanogenMod to the device but cant do this without CWM (I've never attempted to use TWRP, better the devil you know!)
I have noticed Knox has appeared on my device, but I have not activated it as I hear this causes issues with rooting, and the reason I think this is a different device altogether is the flash counter was at 0 when first rooted this one, but I must have pushed this p to at least 15 before it went in for the repair.
Am I missing something? Please don't make me have to use the bloated to the heavens stock Android!
Thanks in advance and will be thanking any help.

Samsung Galaxy S4 bootloop

Hi, I have a Galaxy S4 I9500 and I'm using GEAR CM13
The ROM was working fine until a while ago, but now suddenly there's a bootloop. Last thing I remember doing was accidentally holding the power button a bit long (while trying to lock the phone) so the power off/reboot menu came up and and then I tried to exit from it, but the menu didn't go away and the phone entered into a boot loop
Now, the Samsung i9500 logo just keeps flashing every 5 seconds. I'm unable to enter into recovery mode. I can enter download mode but it just exits out of that after 5 seconds and starts flashing i9500 logo again. I read about a hack to remove battery as soon as I enter download mode and it worked. It stays on download mode now. ODIN recognizes the device. What can I do using ODIN to fix the bootloop? Is there any ODIN flashable zip? I'm on the latest [20160711] build. I have important data in my device. Please help me recover it
I know I can reflash stock ROM and from there, reflash GearCM13 but I do not want to lose data as much as possible. I'm trying for fixes which do not wipe my data partition. I will go ahead with the standard method if I do not find a fix to recover from bootloop without losing data.
