Ok so I've had this phone for about a week, ordered it right from the Cricket website, I use it often at night as I work third shift and I noticed several times that when I hit the power button to lock the screen it goes black but sometimes still remains just slightly lit. It's happened several times and I have no idea what causes it and I have tried several different things I do all the time before locking it but I still have no definitive reason it might do this. I kept myself from messing with it to see how long it would remain like this and I managed to leave it for about 32 mins, which ate up about 8% of the battery. Any ideas what might cause this out how to fix?

HTC One V screen lock issues
I'm also having this same issue. I've had the phone for a very short time maybe three weeks now at the most. I've noticed it does this more often when the phones been in standby for extended periods of time. Sometimes it'll do it multiple times in a row (eg: ill lock the screen, notice that it doesnt power off all the way so I'll unlock it and lock it again and the screen will still remain slightly powered.) Also, the screen "blurs" and gets lines through the image when this happens and doesnt have that crisp blacking out of the screen that it should when locking the phone. I havent been able to find any other mention of this problem other than right here. Phone is not unlocked and is serviced by Cricket. If anyone has info on how to fix this I'd really appreciate it.

anyone had problem with the screen not responding after waking up?
There's no way to turn off the phone / make it respond unless to unplug the battery and plug it in again. Had this problem on the first GN and my second replacement GN.
Yep, happened to me the other day as well. There was a crash right before which made the phone reboot. Once it came back, the hardware buttons responded fine but the touchscreen was dead until a battery pull.
Hasn't happened since though.
Had this at lunch today also had it a few days ago.
When returning from sleep the touch input seems to be completely unresponsive.
I left mine for a while to see if it recovered, it did, it came up with the crash report for "System Process" The screen was then responding fine.
Weird. This is indeed different to the sleep of death, because the screen comes on.
Although maybe it's related in some way?
This just happened to me, and so I googled to find an answer. It thankfully led me here. It's like you guys described: I just tried unlocking my phone, but the screen was completely unresponsive. Not a single touch would register, even when trying to touch the Power Off option.
I read robaldred's comment, so I decided to try the waiting game. Thankfully, after a few minutes the screen just came on and the device was ready to use. I don't believe I saw a crash report though.
I hope this won't become a serious issue. I'd hate to be stranded at a point when I need to use my phone.
I had this problem too. have you guys used custom notification sounds?

I had this exact problem and I found it was due to Juice Defender (I have the Ultimate version as well). It kept happening after I installed and but since removing it over a week ago no problems.
Just had it happen here, had to pull batt. Using BatteryXL but will keep it on and see if it happens again.
Hello,
For the last few days now my phone keeps randomly pushing the menu bottom for no reason!? I've tried several roms and I'm having the same issue. I have one of those expensive screen protectors on, but I don't think that is the issue. Sometimes all of the compasitive buttons lock up and I have to lock the screen and then unlock it for them to get back to working?

I have this same issue. I've done some research and it appears to be a hardware glitch that happens when you have low signal. I've seen some reports of people bringing up the issue with Sprint/Samsung and they will replace the phone. I haven't taken the time to try that yet, since it only happens very infrequently for me.
lol awesome, this started happening to me maybe 2-3 weeks ago and i had thought i sat down too hard on my phone and messing up the menu button. originally i thought i was able to replicate the problem just by holding the phone vertically and rocking it back and forth. i'm glad to see others are having this same issue (well not really glad, just relieved its not a hardware issue).
i am experiencing the same issues the OP is.. menu button randomly pressing itself and all buttons being locked up requiring a lock screen then unlock to get things back to working.

Thanks guys. I just don't have the time to take in my phone in. I normally have about 3 or more bars of service and it was still locking up on me. it's getting really annoying. Maybe I can just call it in? Who knows? They always give me a hard time! If anyone finds a better solution please let me know. Thanks!
Hi All,
I have a rooted (boot loader unlocked) HTC Wildfire S Marvel (A510E)
It has a strange problem. The lock screen freezes every time after locking and I have to try about 6 to 7 times to unlock it.
This is Common across all the ROMs that I have tried including stock and many Custom ROMs.
Also, two stripes of portion of the phone's screen i.e., upper side and left side doesn't work at all.. Not even touch.
For ex; I can't type alphabets 'q' and 'a' in qwerty keyboard. However, display is working. not touch.
The warranty of phone is expired and I really want to know if there is any way that I can fix either or both of these problem in home.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Kindly inform me if I posted this question in wrong area as I am totally new to this forum.
The lockscreen 'freeze' generally happens to everyone, even me,when I use the scary governor. It also happens for stock users.Did your screen die due to excess heat at that area I.e.do you use it in extremely hot conditions?
Lock screen > Grounding issue
I bought Wildfire S day before (New but without warrenty) and it was working very good. When i charge it full and then started using it its lock screen in not responding well. After doing 5-6 retries i was on the home page. Opened menu and tried to click on Favourites or Downloaded icons, it not working. Sometime it does but i cant open downloaded apps page. Similarly its back button is totally not working.
I charged it from my other HTC charger and then then problem was over. I worked well. But again after some time same problem started. I have searched over internet and seen similar problem in HTC Sensation for grounding. And there is a way out given too... But no such procedure can be applied to Wildfire S.
Can anyone suggest any solution?
Thnx.. Nope..

Maybe you damaged the digitizer. Search for a new digitizer on net and replace it yourself. You can find guides for it online.

HTC phones have severe problem of screen not responsive when connected to a power source, may it be a USB or a charger. I had that problem before I got my phone serviced. It was completely resolved.
Just use original charger and make sure the power plug you are using has proper wiring. I mean proper earthing.
I faced same problem few months ago,I send it in HTC customer care .they replaced front panel

Hello people I am desperate with my HOX.
After spending one month in service my HOX returned to me with new board and new battery last Friday of September.
One week later I already had 2 problems.
At first battery didnt last longer than 5 hours.
After a few full charges over the days this was fixed as the phone lasted at least 14 to 15 hours which is fine by me.
Today I turned it on in the morning and everything was fine.
Due to excessive work load I did even touched my phone for the next 8 hours.
After finishing work I tried to check if I had any calls or anything but to my surprise the HOX was off !!!!!!!!!!
I tried turning it off but it was dead.
I performed a full charge and this time the phone made the sound of the turning on but only the menu buttons turned on but the screen remained black.
Is there something I can do about this?
Your help will be very much appreciated.
sounds like your board has screwed up again, mine was same issue

Well it shouldnt be the board because the phone is working behind the screen. I reboot holding the power button down and the phone vibrates and makes the htc sound turning on.The screen came up once or twice but it was unresponsive. The clock and weather was right on but the phone also showed that it was on airplane mod.Pushing all around I even heard the navigation welcoming me.
Its really bizzare.I cant understand what is causing this and I suspect it should be pretty simple.....

Tried every trick and gimmick I read about from a dozen forums but nothing worked. All of the sudden at some point the screen appeared and it even let me unlock but trying to bring up the htc clock and apps got stuck in the middle of the screen and hitting the power button dissapered and went to black again.Off to service it goes on Monday for the 3rd time since May and the 2nd for the last month.I hope they will accept to replace it this time......

MY v500 G Pad is experiencing a weird issue where immediately after waking the device (via knock-on or power button), my lock screen will appear as expected, but then almost immediately the screen will become unresponsive (I'm unable to swipe my pattern to unlock) and the display will dim in increments until black. Once the screen is off, I have to hold down the power button to get the device to reboot.
The changes I have made that seems to coincide with this issue are:
1. rooted the device using the .bat script method
2. installed TWRP recovery
3. switched to Nova Launcher
It's important to note, I have not rom'd my device, and am still running the stock rom.
This is happening one out of every 15 or so times I unlock my device. I have switched from pattern to password unlock to see if it's an issue related specifically to the pattern lock screen (although I have used pattern unlock since the day I got the device).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I don't have that issue and I'm stock , rooted and with twrp you should probably check it's either some settings causing this or more likely an app you installed.

Thanks for the info Naruto. I think I'm going to remove Nova launcher and see if the problem goes away.
Meanwhile, the problem just happened again, but manifested itself slightly differently. Basically, just a few minutes ago when I pushed the power button to wake the device, nothing happend for ~ 10 seconds. Finally, the lock screen came up, but I got an error message "Sorry! Process system isn't responding. Do you want to close it?" Options were "Wait" and "OK". I selected OK and was taken to the lock screen like normal.
What do you guys think?
I had root from dalingrin and twrp on stock rom for about 2 months and i never experienced this issue you report. The lock screen is related to the launcher and as you use nova launcher i d say that it is most probably caused by it.
Thanks for all the help guys. I'm not ready to say that the problem is fixed quite yet, but after switching back to the stock launcher and rebooting, I have locked and unlocked the tablet about 50 times without issue. Looks like the problem was indeed Nova Launcher. That's kind of a bummer because I love Nova, and I have it setup exactly like my phone and it works great for me.
Maybe you could try to re download nova again that's what I'm using and I have no issues. Maybe it was a setting you had checked inside of its settings ?

I got the same thing on a completely unmodified G Pad last weekend. It happened once, worked ok for a few unlocks, then happened a second time. Each time I had to hold the power button down to force a reboot. It's hasn't happened before or since, so I've no idea what caused it, but I did notice something that might or might not be relevant - I happened to be looking at the battery graph later that day, and noticed that at the time of the forced reboots, the battery appeared to drop instantly by about 10%. There was a break in the graph - no vertical line showing the drop, the line just ended, then started off again immediately 10% lower down. If you get the same issue again, it would be interesting to see if your battery graph behaved in the same way.
I had this problem with stock rom changed to Mahdi
No reboots yet.
By the way, I saw a review video on YouTube and the guy was showing knock knock (spell?) and the g pad just crashed and rebooted.
Edit:
I have an LG G2, best phone ever never crashed no lag and a fast phone with great LCD maybe the best mobile screen I have ever seen.

Ok, so I don't think the problem was nova launcher after all. After switching back to the stock launcher, the tablet worked great for several hours, but eventually the problem started happening again. At that point, I rebooted into recovery, cleared cache and dalvik, then fixed permissions, and rebooted. Fingers crossed, but the issue hasn't returned once since, and we're going on 18 hours. I've even been using nova launcher without issue. Still not sure what the issue is, but at least for me, clearing cache and fixing permissions has worked so far.

There is a known issue with 4.2+ of rebooting if you have third party widgets (Not sure which) on the lock screen. Do you have any on there?
