Bricked? Think I flashed the wrong boot image - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I believe I flashed the wrong boot image in odin. my sprint epic4g touch is now giving me a yellow triangle with gt-9i100 model number displaying. i have tried all the triangle removal threads but nothing helps. I think I need to send it off to the JIG folks who do the $50 repair. Thoughts?

yes, it boots to the yellow triangle screen only. no further. Problem is it is recognized in odin at that screen, and not in the typical odin download mode screen.

Wait for someone else to see this thread. I don't want to ask you to do something that might damage the device more.
But it is strange. I am really curious to see what would happen if odin restore is started when phone is recognized at that triangle screen.

the actual file name is "GT-I9100_OLD_BOOTLOADER.tar" from the self extractor
i found it from an ebay jig auction (clearly the wrong one):

This screenshot show where odin just stalls out every time. its stuck on "setupconnection"

You flashed the wrong boot loader, you need to have it JTAG'd.

If the phone won't go passed the gs2 screen and you cant get into cwm, you're pretty much boned.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Yeah flashing the wrong bootloader is the one surefire way to brick this phone, not counting the emmc brick. You're gonna need JTAG and yeah mobiletechvideos is the way to go. They should get you back up and running for 50 bucks.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

$50 and a week from now they'll have you up and running again.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

Since Odin picks up the phone see if adb will recognize the phone.
Also try kies. The emergency recovery or firmware update thing. Can't remember exactly what it is called.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

If it's the wrong bootloader I think Kies will recognize it as the international version. Emergency recovery wouldn't work.

Are you using autostarts? If so you may have restricted something there that requires it to boot the phone normally. I don't remember what it was exactly but I do recall that bring my problem on a different phone.

Trying to go back to GB after FB17. Brick now?

I renamed touch cwm recovery to update.zip, put it in /cache, then used the stock FB17 recovery to flash that recovery from cache.
The stock recovery restarted into cwm.
I then did clear data/factory reset, it said "formatting data, formatting cache", and then it hung up. I tried hard reset by holding power button.
Now, whenever I power on the phone, it just has the blue led lit and does nothing.
I tried power+vol up/vol down after a battery pull. Same result.
Is this thing bricked?
What are my options?
Thanks.
I've went back and forth countless times. I'd suggest using odin to go back.

Guess nobody reads around here. As much as I wanna try a leak, Ive been using parts of the day to gather knowledge before I get flash slappy. ONCE AGAIN to anbody who reads this do NOT use rom manager it has caused multiple issues. Use odin to get back to a stock recovery and THEN restore a nandroid.
Yeah get jiggy with it first.

You don't even need to rename the recovery kernel to update.zip. I've been flashing EL29 kernel with FB17's stock recovery a lot to switch back and forth. Unfortunately as I have read, flashing the touch recovery is known to be problematic. I flash steady's EL29 kernel and everything went well.

[SOLVED!!] Accidentally flashed GT-i9100 bootloader...

Like an IDIOT I accidentally Odin'd the international (GT-i9100) bootloader over the stock/rooted FH13. The phone works but in download mode Odin does not recognize. I've tried everything I could read others have tried (drivers, etc) but no joy. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I out of the Odin business permanently?
Thanks.
I remember hearing of someone else doing this before as well and I think I remember the only thing they could do was send it off to have the flash reprogrammed via jtag. My suggestion is find a rom you like. Flash it and stay put. Can't risk a soft brick.

Even if usb wasn't working you should be able to copy the bootloader into the phone and run a terminal emulator to run the command from the phone. But there is a how to specifically for this issue somewhere.

Ok try this. If your computer can see the phone booted up there its no reason why download shouldn't see it. Uninstall your drivers. Download the drivers from Samsung again. Install them. Put your phone in download mode. Connect to pc. Let drivers get loaded completely. Unplug phone from pc. Plug phone back to pc. Open Odin. See if it gives you a com port. Report back the result.

Thanks. I've tried this but when I'm in download mode my phone is not recognized at all (by neither the computer nor Odin).
I was mistake this was about the kernel, not the boot loader. Regardless here's the link

Then you might be out of luck. I am not sure you can fix it without Odin. Here is a bootloader if you get Odin working. If you didn't try all of the steps I posted please do it again. Also switch cables even though it works for other functions.

Thanks. Yes, I found that. I've been reading about this all day and I think I can safely say that I am not going to be able to undo this without sending my phone for the Jtag.
