I have no idea what this is and I heard it helps with some issues with cm10 issues. I tried reading through the cm10 nightlies thread but no luck.

get the boot.img of the rom and the kernel you want to use and then repack.
But what use is that? Like what are the benefits of doing it?

You need to learn what the kernel does first, then it should make sense...

Are there any flash able ROMs using only cwm or twrp?
Sent from my HTC One V using xda app-developers app
Yes. All rings are flashable. Ad looking as your using an ICS boot.IMG, you can flash 4.0 roms with no problem.
If your on a JB boot animation, you can flash 4.1+ roms. Just be aware to what kernel your using.

OK I understand the kernel is like telling the phone what bios to use like an emulator. So if I go from stock to amazing sense I'm totally good to go no CPU needed. Am I right?

Wrong!!!
KISS works fine with sense roms - just choose the right image
So ivanrvf: use this http://www.mediafire.com/?362drdxcdpkf2s0
When I flashed KISS kernel on stock ROM, it didn't boot......for half an hour....

Trying all methods of flashing kernel and I don't any of the methods work
So my quest is...
Can somebody make a zip to flash kernel?
I mean a zip that allow us to flash kernel through recovery.
Thanks in advance

You can't flash kernel through recover cuz we have pvt s-on......
Sent from my HTC One V using xda premium
No...you have to be s off ..which is hard to have and why aren't methods working ,you're the one that's doing it wrong (there's a thread in general by cybervibin which explains how to flash it
Is there any work in progress to break the lock?
In 3 months I have flash ed 4 kernels, now on cm10 paranoid I can't get flashed the kernel
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Why ...what's the error its telling you
That cannot detect device and cannot load kernels..but all in one tool do flash recoverys...
I'm sure kernels are put in the correct folder and have rename kernel to boot.img
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Maybe check for an update to the all in one tool your using, or learn to install the SDK and platform tools so you can do the fast boot commands in the command line. Not a bad thing to know how to do.

If I update my cm10.1 ROM to a newer version, will I have to re flash my boot.IMG again?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Depends, if there are no ramdisk/kernel tweaks, you don't need to... but it's always recommended to flash first!
It takes about 15 seconds more?!
From next time onwards, ask ROM related questions in the ROM thread!
OK, its because I'm on holiday and there's a update. I've tweaked the karnel to boost my SD. Its the CM10.1.0 RC2 update. Also, I have customised my ROM using ROM toolbox, would I loose all my customisations after performing the update? If so, is there any way I can restore it after updating? Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Kernel related tweaks will be re-set... Preferences/settings of rom toolbox won't be changed if you dirty flash the latest build AFAIK! Never tried it, so can't say for sure...
Titanium Backup takes a backup of your app and then restores it.. along with all the preferences... However, again, I've not used ROM toolbox to tweak anything so can't be sure whether it will back them up as well?!
Worst case will be, you will have to do all the tweaks again! That's it!
Dirty flash??

Flashing the rom without wiping anything!
However, if you do wipe data/cache/dalvic, I'm sure you will loose everything!
Thanks, I'll try it sometime
