[Recovery ROM] [15-August-2010] RA-hero-v1.7.0.1

This is a custom recovery based on Cyanogen's recovery source with a lot of things added by me. The purpose of this recovery is to avoid using adb by accessing all features directly from the menu.
All source code is available at github.
This recovery if for the HTC Hero only, so NOT the Sprint Hero!!!, if you have an :
- HTC Dream/G1 you should go here.
- HTC Magic/MT3G you should go here.
- HTC Sprint Hero you should go here.
- HTC Eris you should go here.
- HTC Tattoo you should go here.
- HTC Nexus One you should go here.

Important notes
Make sure your battery is at least 30% before using nandroid!!
Always check recovery.log before posting your issues!
You can do this by doing :
"cat /tmp/recovery.log" OR "cat /cache/recovery/log" right after you had the issue.
Use the "move log to sd" option in the "others" menu right after you had the issue. This will move the log to /sdcard/recovery.log so you can easily open it with a text editor.
How-to Navigate
Use the trackball (up+down) to navigate through the menu, press the trackball to select items.
You can also use the volume keys (vol-up + vol-down) to navigate, and the CALL-ANSWER key to select items (in case your trackball is broken).

Wipe SD:ext partition : Wipe the ext partition on your sdcard
Wipe battery stats : Wipe the battery stats in /data
Wipe rotate settings : Wipe the sensor settings in /data

Move recovery.log to SD :: Moves the recovery log file to your sdcard. (Use when you want more detailed recovery log information)
Power off :: Powers off your phone
Scripts available via adb :
Nandroid v2.2.1 : enter "nandroid-mobile.sh" to start.
BART v1.3.1 (Backup and Restore Tool) : enter "utility" or "u" to start.
switchrom.sh V1.1 : enter "switchrom" to start.
sdparted v0.6 : enter "sdparted" to start.
Install
There are several ways to install a custom recovery, choose the one that suits you most (I probably forgot a few).
via adb -> Requires a custom recovery (with test-keys) like Cyanogen's v1.4 or my previous recovery
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img to the root of your sdcard
Boot into your current custom recovery (boot while holding HOME)
Connect your Hero via usb to your pc/mac/...
adb shell
$su (not required if you have root already)
#mount -a
#flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img
via fastboot + adb -> In case you don't have a custom recovery, so when you get signature fail errors

Download
ALWAYS check the md5sum to make sure the zip isn't corrupted.
Only flash recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img if you have a 32A Sapphire with 6.35.x.x radio and 1.76.x SPL, recovery-RA-hero-v1.7.0.1.img will NOT boot! I'll create a new Sapphire version soon.

Hello i just tried to install but when i execute the command
"fastboot boot Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img"
I get an error FAILED (remote not allow)
I must tell that i had installed latest official build that later i uninstalled to install MoDaCo 2.2. Because with original i wasn't able to root it.
Maybe there is a problem with the boot loader (updated i think).
Can you help me?

You can just flash it, and delete cm-hero-recovery.img if there is one in /data or /system (I doubt that there is one there).

Your SPL isn't allowing you to flash it, you'll need to use the flashrec method to flash this recovery.

if you flash this permanently it will overwrite cyanogen recovery..
however if u dont like it you can flash cyanogen again..

The First Step In Modification of you Gio is Rooting , everything starts from Rooting. Many Applications Require Root access for working.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy gio
Download root gb updated.zip file. and copy to SD card (not in any folder)
1. Shutdown/Power Off your Gio.
2. Put your phone in recovery Mode(press: Home button + Power button toghether)
3. In recovery mode, select Update from SD-card(Use Volume keys to navigate and home button for enter).
4. Search for the root gb updated.zip file on your SD-card
5. Run the update
6. Reboot
Phone will be turned on , An App SuperUser will be added , its mean you successfully done rooting , now you must be thinking you have done rooting and nothing really changed, let me tell you my friends its the first step real thing begins after this , read the whole thread and you'll find much more things than you imagined.

Now you want to Update your firmware or want to try a Modified Firmware(Mod) , Lets start Flashing your device.

Download ODIN 4.42
NOTE: Always do a fectory reset before and after flashing to avoid glitches.
1. Extract and Run Samsung S5660 Galaxy Gio ODIN 4.42 Downloader on your Desktop.
2. Open ODIN and Click OPS button and select and load: Gio_v1.0.ops
If you want to flash single file(.tar) click on Single package and locate the single .tar file in single package option . skip to step 7
3. Click BOOT button and select and load: APBOOT_S5660xxxxx_CL940762_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
4. Click PDA button and select and load: CODE_S5660xxxxx_CL940762_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
5. Click PHONE button and select: MODEM_S5660xxxxx_CL928654_REV03.tar.md5
6. Click CSC button and select: GT-S5660-MULTI-CSC-Oxxxxx.tar.md5
7. Turn the Samsung Galaxy Gio into Download mode by pressing ( Volume Down + OK + Power ) together.

How to create ext2 partition for a2sd darktremor
1. Insert the memory card in card reader (don't use phone for partition making)
2. Open the "Partition Wizard"
3.Move/Resize Right-click on SDCard and choose Move / Resize
4.Select the partition size ((Don't have to formate complete card just resize)
5.Confirm your choice to "OK"
6.Right-click on the unpartitioned space
7.Click "Create"
8. A warning message appears, click "Yes"
9.Choose "Create as Primary"
10.Patrition type Ext2
11.Cluster size 4Kb Cluster size 4Kb
12.click "Ok"
13.click "Apply"
14.Finish
15.Now you can insert the card into the phone

How to Enable a2sd darktremor and what is a2sd darktremor?
NOTE: a2sd darktremor does not work on most of Stock Roms, For Stock Roms you will need a flashable modified boot.img file you can request on Thread for your Rom or download already posted one , This Tutorial is about how to manually enable a2sd darktremor , Although some of Custom Roms can be by Default a2sd darktrmor enabled , but most of times you have to enable it manually, and almost every latest Custom Rom /Stock rom can support a2sd darktremor, so just enable it using this tutorial.

What is a2sd Darktremor and what it does?????
In simple words ,a2sd darktremor let you install your all apps on sd card , so in this way internal memroy stay empty and phone perform better.
This is Darktremor Apps2SD, a multipurpose program that primarily allows a user to execute applications created for the Android OS on their Secure Digital card (with the proper setup...more on that later). But, Darktremor Apps2SD is all about stability. The goal is to be able for all users of the Android OS to be able to take advantage of a method to run their applications from a secure digital card.
But just because the Darktremor Apps2SD is all about stability, doesn't mean it isn't packed with features:

The links that you provided does not work. When i wanted to download LDPI version, it goes to "dev host", but upon clicking on "download now", it said, "this site can't be reached". I've tried from different network with no luck. Please provide updated links.

XOLO Q1000 ROM [4.2.1] Stock Modified

Note: This ROM is a Modified Stock ROM 4.2.1 with a few apps added and other features. Check below.
Based on Build : XOLO_Q1000_S101_130607
Friends, this CWM flashable ROM provides stock experience only with certain useful features and tweaks, no major UI changes have been done. It maybe useful for those who’ll are having problems rooting.
Stock kernel has been used.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE:
In order to avoid bootlooping issues, before flashing out the zip file, perform these steps:
(1) Remove the boot.img and meta-inf folder from that zip file..
(2) Then download this new meta-inf folder link-------------->https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7kpQGwEs84ed0tKV1hZaC1wNmc/edit?usp=sharing
(3) Extract the meta-inf.zip. Put this new meta-inf folder inside the XOLO Q1000_mj ROM zip file .
(4) Follow instructions written below for clearing out your phone.
Now simply flash the ROM!

(1) Backup anything you want and go to CWM Recovery. This ROM will wipe your data.
(2) Wipe out everything:
- Factory reset
- Mounts and Storage/Format system.
- Again go to Advanced/Wipe Dalvik cache,battery stats.
This will make your phone into clean state.
(3) Install Zip from sdcard/choose zip file and reboot.

In miui v 5.

Change the mount lines.
Change the values in(highlighted in yellow):
dev_mount sdcard--------------Change the sdcard0 to sdcard1 & '1' to '0'
dev_mount left_sdcard---------Change the sdcard1 to sdcard2 & '2' to '1'

I have to edit from pc then replace via root explorer and restart ?

Go to system/etc folder using some file manager with root explorer enabled.....and change the values as i have explained in the previous post

This option not available in miui v 5

It might be somewhere in settings idk exactly....m nt using miui rite now......ask miui porter maybe he can help

For those who are having problems related to boot issue, please make sure you have proper CWM Recovery installed. For that you can use SP Flash Tool:
SP Flash Tool folder, boot.img ,scatter file, recovery.img.
Steps:
- Make sure you have all drivers installed i.e. MTK6589 Drivers x86-DroidDict(link) and VCOM drivers(link) installed. Click on 'File' on top-left of the webpage and click 'Download'.
- Click on Flash_tool
- Click on Scatter-loading and select the file 'MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc'
- You will see 'BOOTIMG' & 'RECOVERY' has been selected. Make sure its the one present in the same folder where the 'scatter' file has been placed.
- Switch OFF your phone completely,remove the battery and re-insert it.
- Connect your XOLO Q1000 to the computer.
- Click on 'Download' button and you will see your phone being detected and the flash process will start.
- You will be confirmed when its done with the Green circle.
- Now, keep Volume up+Power button on your phone pressed nad in a few seconds you will get your CWM Recovery screen. Then flash this ROM.

Not Working...After flashing this ROM , bootlooping starts!! Can you post the original stock ROM without any tweaks that can be flashed through the CWM directly not by sp flash tool?

See you will have to flash boot.img and recovery.img from this thread.....using spflash tools scatter file method......only these three files you will hve to flash..... then install the rom zip.....m sure it will work 100%....do reply if any probs

Great you must be happy.......I have tried the MIUI ROM by @Javajohn and it worked great. However, am not a fan of MIUI so reverted back to stock based rom!
