im trying to port a ROM from the galaxy 3 and was wondering if something went wrong that my phone wont be bricked right...ill still be able to restore...?...cause i know if i just flash a rom from a different phone it can/will brick my phone...thanks in advance...
You can't flash a ROM meant for the S3 on your S2. It'll brick you. You have to port it. I would use this guide on how to port. If you follow the steps correctly, you shouldn't brick.

Hi, could someone help with my phone.
Well my problem is that i cant load any firmware now after i was trying to install XWJM7 that was posted here from someone. Just followed hes guide thoroughly but still cant load any formware now. Mine is asian galaxy s i9000, so it should be running smoothly rite?
Thanks!
you are using odin?
try reading up the stickies on how to flash your firmware.
Yeah!
And nevermind, i figure it out my self anyway. Didn't know that the connection of where to put the usb data cable matters! LOL! I just transfer it in port 7, so that i get "com7" or sumthing then its all good.
hi guy a lot of you have been bricked your gios. i have did it to.
samsung phones are allmost unbrickable! i have made unbrick zip with all files you
you need to unbrick you gio. theres all files you need! odin to.
4shared.com/rar/J2i7-pbX/UNBIRCK.html
it works for me and all other bricked gio users! good luck hope it works!
what is that?
is it odin & official rom?
Eeeemm... but when you brick gio, you can turn on download mode, so... its probably not works

Sorry to say, but in this file you'll just find a stock ROM and Odin flash tool.
This will definitely not unbrick your gio.
You need to be able to go into download mode on your phone for this to work, so if this works your phone was not really bricked.
I think this is no use for a birck phone
useless, we dont need this, and it wont fix a brick because with a brick you cant acces download mode wich you need for odin.
unrelated to the fail above, but..
I remember that my earlier phones ( SE ) had the ability to be flashed in blind ( however you can put this ). Essentialy the software would not wait for response ( ackn? )from the device, but flash it anyway in hopes that EEPROM was techincally okay. I have little understanding of what I just said, but is something like this also possible on droid hardware?
flashed a skyrocket rom on my t989 accidently, the link for the rom was in the t989 thread not for the skyrocket. well cant boot into anything tottally dead im planning on buying a usb jig if not i might send for jtag fix but i want to try Jib First. i see alot of people have this problem too but they ask and some people say jigs work some say they dont. does it work on this model?
Skyrocket ROMs don't brick this phone, they only screw up the rotation. What's the link you downloaded?
Have you tried getting into recovery just make sure you tried correctly

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace. I want to root it and flash it with CyanogenMod (the latest working version for Galaxy Ace). I also want to make a backup of the current state of the Ace i.e. the stock ROM so that I may revert back to it in case I don't like what I get after the flashing of the new ROM.
I have never before rooted any android phones and I have no intentions of bricking my Ace. I have searched about how to go about the process but I keep reading about CWM, odin, unlocking bootloader and stuff like that which I am not at all familiar with.
So, can anybody guide me through the steps? What should be the first step?
I request somebody to guide me through the process so that if anything goes wrong, lets say I softbrick my phone, you can help me recover it. If I follow along a tutorial all on my own, I might end up with a bricked phone.
Thanks in advance for all the help
Hi, I've been able to successfully flash cwm and then a custom ROM.
moderators can delete this thread if they want.
Thanks XDA.
Hey guys. I've been looking for this information online and I just haven't been able to get any help.
I hardbricked my s3(wont power on) while on 4.4.2, while trying to install a bootloader/modem. I cant even remember which one I installed, it was chaos trying to get cm 11 working.
Is there a unbrick img that works for the i747m model on 4.4.2? Is there any way to fix my phone without a jig or jtag or any DIY methods? I've read a unbrick threads and some say they don't have a fix for 4.4.2 yet but im not sure if they are just outdated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

We need to know which one you flashed so we can suggest a fix. Otherwise, you could end up flashing the wrong bootloaders/baseband and hard-brick your phone (if it's not already).
As for the unbrick, it is for 4.3. I don't think we have one for 4.4.2 yet.
A Jig is only helpful if you didn't mess with the bootloaders.
If you've flashed the 4.4.2 modem on 4.3 firmware, there is no way to fix this type of brick yet. I think one or two other people who hard bricked differently on 4.4.2 have been able to fix theirs. Hard to remember for sure. (Everyone keeps opening new threads for every brick rather than just posting in the existing thread so it makes it a lot harder to keep track of what has worked, and even more difficult to find the relevant posts again.....)
