AD-HOC network still cannot be support

It's NOT ARC's problem, it's google android system doesn't support the ADHOC mode.
But it's annoying that android still doesn't support AD-HOC network. So if you want to use the phone with another ADHOC wifi spot, eg, my mobile broadband contract with unlimited data, ARC cannot "SEE" the ADHOC network. Any ideas?
There is something done on the system/bin/wpa_supplicant but that wouldn't apply to 2.3 system.
I need ad-hoc support too.. Anyone succeed to enable it ?
Anyone has any ideas on how to enable it ?
Nothing new about ad-hoc on xperia arc ? I tried to replace my wpa_supplicant with files from other ROMS, and it didn't worked.
Anyone succeed to enable ad-hoc support on xperia arc ?
plz help. i really need ad-hoc support
As far as i know, you need a wifi dongle with Access point capabilities and then you should install connectify on your pc, that should let it function as a wifi router, if not the only other option is buying a wifi router, which is pretty cheap nowadays.

USB tether to router ?

Does anyone know of any router that supports USB tethering of android ?
To confirm the android phone is being used as a 3G modem to provide internet access via the router as a 3g dongle would.
Thanks
Hi, I'd find it highly unlikely such a thing would exist. Shame though as I'd find it handy too.

[Q] Anyone find a wpa_supplicant for ad-hoc support to a A100 on ICS?

I tried using the old wpa_supplicant with ad-hoc from HC but the wifi won't even startup...has anyone found one that works because I really need to be able to connect my A100 to my phone's hotspot.
Thanks for everyone's help...I was able to figure it out and get ad-hoc wifi working.
Would you care to share with the group .. or update the original thread so that the rest of us can learn from your experience?
Gratzi

[Q] Modified WPA_Supplicant to add adhoc visibility and connection?

Does anyone know of a modified WPA_Supplicant file for the T-Mobile S3 TW JB 4.1 roms that would add the ability to see and connect to ad hoc networks? I've seen some for ICS but not JB. Maybe it exists but I just haven't found it yet.
My normal router recently burned out so I figured I'd use my computer with its separate wifi adapter to create an ad hoc network. Other laptops can see and connect to it (which is great with internet connection sharing) but my S3 cannot see it. That's the purpose of this question.

[Q] How to Connect to AdHoc Network

Hi Guys,
I searched almost all the threads related to the issue, but found nothing that works. I have an old laptop that I want to use as a virtual router for my other devices. But sadly, it can only broadcast ad-hoc network. Even with Connectify I could not get it to broadcast in infrastructure mode. Now that is not a roblem with my other devices, they can see the ad-hoc and connect. Except or my Gnex.
I am using stock rooted 4.2.2 with latest radio and Franco's kernel. Is there any way I can get it to connect t ad-hoc?
Would be great if you could help me out. Otherwise I would have to go and buy an actual router (which I am trying to avoid).

Either you have to edit the supplicant list or get any of the workarounds. Have you tried this?
