No thast not necessary. How are you installing the usb driver? If you look at thread below and go to step 1. There's a link in there for the usb driver. Its for Sprint and Tmo S3. Just run it and it should install automatically without needing any other software installed. I've done this with windows XP at work and my windows 7 at home.

ues i did install it. but then i get an error on the PC saying: "there was a problem installing this hardware.. MTP. An error occurred during installation of the device. A service installation section in this INF is invalid."
Is it really such a big deal to install it anyway and test if you can install your SGS3 drivers? You could always uninstall once you get the drivers working. Besides, it's only WMP10. Not like it's iTunes or Quicktime.
You need to have windows media player 11 or higher in order for your computer to recognize your phone. That's what worked for me.

Have you tried installing the Snapdragon toolkit and installing the drivers through that program?
no need to open two threads, you will get help when people get around to it. this is not a tech support site, itsa development site.

need help install android driver

I need help install android driver on windows 8. I put phone into bootloder and a pop in windows says usb devices not recognized. in device manager, there is item called android 1.0. I used toolkit 9.1 install driver, it only has option for windows 7. the result says the resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. I downloaded naked driver 0.7, install from device manager, I get error says 'windows encountered error install the driver' Samsung galaxy nexus bootloader interface.
what should I do ?

i use these drivers.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875
PS- next time post in the correct section
I had the same issue with Win8.
If u select the manual driver option within the toolkit there is a link to pdanet (or something similar).
I downloaded and installed that (with nexus disconnected), it looked like the installer failed but the driver must have stuck because the next time I connected via fastboot it had the correct driver.
Hope that helps

"The toolkit only has windows 7"
And because of that, you dont know what to do/to try. Just great.
Remove all drivers, reboot. Boot Nexus to bootloader, connect usb, go to device manager, manually update the driver by right click on android 1.0 or whatever the device name is, choose the driver that you previously extracted (naked drivers). Reboot. Should work.
// offtopic : windows 8 has got to be the worst windows yet.

I have installed android SDK and google USB driver is installed. I also downloaded naked driver 0.7 and manually install driver from device manger item called android 1.0, choose folder from naked driver. still get the same error.
Uninstall all drivers, try the ones in the samsung website for windows 8.
Jeez, you need help with drivers go to a windows forum, i'm sure it exists such a thing and google knows about it.

[Q] having problems with adb connection to my Note II (GT-N7100)

I am unable to use adb from either Windows7 or Ubuntu to my Samsung galaxy note II phone. Any ideas why? Also on Ubuntu when I connect my phone via the USB cable to the PC, my Ubuntu has problem openning the disks on the phone or openning the camera.
I can now connect via Windows 7 after having installed "Samsung Galaxy Note II Toolkit2" and the device drivers.
But my issues under Ubuntu remain...
Even though I managed finally to get my Samsung Note II to communicate with adb on Windows but I am still having problem with it working with Ubuntu.
I have also installed heimdall on my ubuntu but have not decided to flash my phone to make it ROOT. All I need is to communicate with it through adb via ubuntu.
I also attempted through WINE to install "Samsung Galaxy Note II Toolkit2 but still no joy.
the error I get when connecting my phone via usb to my ubuntu machine is:
Unable to mount SAMSUNG_Android
Error initialising camera: -60 :Could not lock the device
Any ideas?

Connection Issues with Note 2

I get the following error
"Unable to find software on your PC that can recognize your device. Service pack 3, Windows Media Player, version 11 or higher, or Samsung USB Driver for Windows XP, or Android file transfer for Mac OS must be installed (see www.microsoft.com or www.android.com/filetransfer)
when I connect my note 2 to my pc via usb. I also have a white note 2 that was connecting without a problem earlier today.
I've tried installing Samsung Kies, installing the Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones v1.5.14.0 with no luck. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.
Stupid Samsung Drivers not working. Tried everything!
i just started having this issue out of nowhere as well. WTF? I've tried over and over to install the drivers and nothing is working. This is driving me crazy and I can't seem to fix it. My wife's S3 will no longer connect as well.
HELP!

Please suggest me how to solve this problem. I want to update firmware but cant use odin wiyhout usb driver.
Now reply from my self:
If you download "Samsung galaxy USB Driver" from web. It may be not work for your device while in download mode.
Fir this you have to do this》
Turn off device. Stay it in download mode. Connect it with PC and start internet via other device or wifi. Now in control panel go in device manager. Here you will find your device (without driver installed). Click on it and update drivers for your Samsung device.
