Pull out your battery for 2 minutes, put it back and try to boot. If that doesn't work then:
1) Power off your device (pulling out battery is the bulletproof way)
2) Press the volume-down button and hold it, then press the power button until you see a
white menu screen (bootloader)
3) Try to access recovery (navigate with volume-keys and powerbutton). If you cannot
access recovery then:
4) Download this file http://www.multiupload.com/BTJ8KY0KH9 and put it on your SD-card
root with an external memory card reader.
5) Boot to bootloader again and accept the installation
6) See if it works.

like to do all of this but it dont boot into bootloader doesnt mater if i push volume up or down and power on either way it vibrates 3 times than flashes led.
still... is HTC able to detect a rooted device even if it dont boot? and if so can they deny the waranty

This has happened to me 2-3 times. I definitely think it was because the battery didn't have enough charge. Try charging it for a little time. Have patience.
If its not getting charged I think there might be some problem with your charger, charging cable, charging port or battery.

wll the battery was charged 100% just before that happened - and i tried another battery after this happend - because i was about to install a new rom. so it checks aut that when i try to hboot that its vibrates 7 times than flashes green led (when vol down + power) when i start normaly or when i try to vol up + power its vibrates 3 times
and flashes a orange led ( normaly it would be red but i was on blackice mod)
i have varanty left on that thing and it was rooted s-off when i send it in are they able to see this?
and could they deny varannty?
it was only slightly oc´ed to 1.3 instead of 1 ghz thera was chainfire installed too
Windows 7 trys to recognice the device when i plug it in per usb but cant find the right driver.
thanks for the ideas

That's strange. When that happened to me it was fine when I charged up the battery.
Unfortunately, considering the fact that you can't even get into bootloader and that windows cant recognize your device I'd say you are pretty much bricked.
Do you get the splashscreen atleast? the one with the white HTC logo?
Are your volume keys working fine? I mean were they working fine before this happened?
Well I'm pretty sure that if they can't get to the bootloader, they have no way of knowing it was S-OFF. So they can't deny warranty in that case.
On the other hand, if the issue that caused this problem was indeed an issue that could've come only after someone S-OFF's then they might just deny it.
But I'm pretty sure you can fool them by maintaining that you don't know anything about how it happened.

Nope. Wont work. The computer has to recognize it atleast. In anycase, adb works only after the mobile boots past the splashscreen. And I think he might have already be knowing about adb since he's flashing ROM's.

thats the point ther is no splash screen at all. i think this is a great myth the comunity cant solve by now. i read this a bunch of times many post to the 3 vibrations on boot or 7 vibrations ther is suggested that the mainboard passed out but what coused this if so?
otherwise i saw post on peaople were able to fix this bug and therfore could be no mainboeard failure be possible right?
i still try to figure that out gonna make a pol thread in DHD general because i have some suspissions to this and i want to see if this checks out.
thanks anyway

[Q] Is the phone dead?

Hey guys,
i was trying to root the Desire of my uncle, it is a german TMobile branded device with HBoot 0.75.
I used the instructions of the third post in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
After that i bricked the display i dont know why. The i tried to unbrick the display using the instrunctions of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748498
Now i have a Desire that does nothing, no vibration, my computer don't recognise it when i plug in the usb plug, the phone seems dead. The only thing the phone is doing is when it charges the battery, the orange/green leds are blinkng.
Is the phone dead, or can it be recovered in some way?
Unbrick a SLCD is very painful - had to do this myself. The instructions to unbrick are correct. The problem is blind navigating through the Bootloader menu. Sometimes its not responding to Vol-Up or Down at all - so you can't say if you really got to the right point at the Bootloader menu.
Hardest thing for me was to get into Recovery at all. Just give your phone 10s minimum between all steps.

re: blinking: are they on, or actually blinking? when mine is charging I have a solid orange and when it is 100% I have a solid green LED.
Could it be a USB brick and a SLCD brick at the same time?
Have you tried to get the computer to recognise it in either fastboot or recovery mode?
Code:
plug it into the computer (turned off)
vol down+power=bootloader. was there a *ding*?
if not, press power again. you should be in fastboot now. any ding now?
if not, press power again (back to bootloader), wait ~10 seconds, press vol down, then power. you should now be in the recovery screen that would usually have a red exclamation mark in it. any luck with the *ding*?
if there is a *ding* coming from your computer then it can still be accessed from the PC and therefore should a ~relatively~ straightforward fix.

its to do with the fastboot etc having to load the pm99.img files, and that takes ~10-15 seconds. the phone won't respond before it loads these in the bootloader.

red? I didn't know the desire had a red LED, it certainly doesnt show up in a logcat on the blinker app.

Unfortunately I don't know how much more help I could be.
all I could suggest is trying to flash said fixes completely blindly again in hopes you screwed it up the first time (using a MicroSD card adaptor to put necessary files on the card).
I guess the next option is to try at Modaco if you haven't already, or see if T-Mob can replace (whether or not you tell them the full story is up to you)
sorry I couldn't be more help

Defy not booting

Hey all,
I was trying to flash a new rom on my friend's Defy. Everything went fine till the point I had to flash the rom. I forgot to wipe cache and data before flashing and now the phone isn't boot. I'm stuck with a black screen. Also I tried to charger it with an ac charger and the white LED doesn't turn on, but it does when I connect it to my PC and I've tried to boot into recovery and bootloader, but I cant.
Please help needed asap!
Hey,
more information please, what have you done??
Flashed with RSDLite? From which ROM to which ROM?
Further it could be the wrong Group for that Post....
How did you try to boot into bootloader?
Maybe the wiki can help you more faster...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Motorola_Defy
If you still stuck - pls give me a hint.
Good Luck!
Thank for the reply
I was using RSDLite to flash that new rom. I'm not sure what the default rom was, but I was trying to flash JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.1 and to get into the bootloader I was pushing and holding the power button and vol up button together.
P.S. I'm trying to do the McGyver battery fix at the moment.
I dont think you need that mc gyver trick...
Release the battery, press and hold volume up (+) and the power butten than insert the battery, after some seconds -dont wait too long- release all buttons, now you should see the bootloader and it should be possible to flash a new image again, be sure which image you take!!
Recovery mode has two different ways to get into, it depends on the image you have currentyl installed....
Usually push the volume down (-) button and power on your device, just relase the volume (-) button if you see the exclamation mark.
Let me know if something worked for you.
I had nearly the same issue, released the battery for a moment an tried the first hint i wrote above.
This hasn't worked for me either

Hey.
You mean the McGyver Trick? Or the Battery In/Out way to Bootloadder??
cheers.
Some issue doesn't need you to actually see the bootloader screen in order to flash a new sbf. Just take out the battery, hold volume up button and insert back the battery, then release button. Now insert the USB cable to the PC. You would see a connection status under the RSDlite even if the phone screen stay black. Now you can continue flashing.
Or the back screen tells you are on an empty battery, then Mcgyver is the only way.
Had this problem well too many times.
Check the file size of the ROM.
I spent ages trying to get a 40MB rom to flash properly.
try find one with a good file size (100MB-300MB).
I had the same problem and tried the McGyver trick, but the battery the cause of my problem. If u plug it in with RDs lite open and then try pwr and volume + then u might be able to get something. Even if teh screens off and RDS lite detects it then its worth a shot trying to flash it again.

[HELP] bricked XPERIA S by silly mistake

Hello friends,
I am new (and dumb too) to XDA and all the root and all these things.
I just rooted and unlocked bootloader of my Xperia S.
and flashed the Jelly bean AOSP ROM as in following thread.
[ROM]JB AOSP 4.2.1 alpha 2
I was playing in recovery mode and I don't which option I choose but I think something like "Wipe Partitions" or "Format partitions"
After that I rebooted phone but it just went dead.
I think the battery was low (~15%) when I messed up.
Now it's not responding to anything, no boot, no recovery mode, no fastboot, no flash mode,(vol + or vol - with power) :crying:
Only thing was that I put it on wall charger at 2:00 am (no LED), at morning 10::am RED LED was strong on, but still no fastboot and flash mod e while connecting to pc :crying:
Still I kept on charging whole day ( I saw some threads regarding XPERIA S UNBRICK )
now after ~8hours, connected to pc but still detection.
Also I want to mention that When LED was on while charging and the I connected to pc , IF LED went ON , then phone not detected by computer.
and after sometime the LED went off , then Device says it connected as in screen shot below, but no fastboot or flashmode.
Please help me. Sorry for bad representation.
Hi, the i'm not a phone wizz but it happen't to me a few days ago as well. Tried everything almost bought a new phone because i thought it was bricked....
Now it's alive and kickin'.
For me worked:
Mine randomly started up till the battery was empty, 2-3min and that was enough.
Download the Emma flashtool, it's from Sony itself.
Install the flashtool and start it..let it settle.
With the red light on when it starts try to get it in plug in the usb in the phone (it's already connected in the pc) while holding the volume button down, and when you're lucky the flashtool will recognize the phone and will collect the correct software/ROM/kernel. Just hit the install/repair button and that worked for me, it installed the correct software and it was alive again...
Wish you all the luck.

09/042/2013 22:42:12 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
no response from Emma. Also no flashboot or fastboot :crying:
Have installed the fastboot drivers for your phone?
If you connect your phone with vol- or vol+ you shouldn't get a red light, it should be blue or green.
Try charge phone for a while then download a jellybean kernel (e.g. *.sin file), then adb push the kernel to the phone. Boot into recovery and refresh rom.
This will require adb and drivers both available in the flashpoint folder.

OK I will try. But the phone RED LED going on as a charging indicator only.
(Generally when phone shuts down at 0% battery and if we boot it up without charging, it turns on and turn off , after i fyou connect the charger, the instance the RED LED goes on but screen remains blank, After sometime the screen shows charging battery )
the same case is happening with me.
Should I remove battery, will it void its warranty?

So u can charge ur phone? It sounds like all u need to do is reinstall a kernel then a rom. No need to remove battery. If you connect urban phone to a usb, when off, and hold a volume key you should not get a red led. You get a red led when u don't have flashmode and/or fastboot.

Have you tried a 'hard' reset of the phone/power.
Phone may be in a loop with power still on or some other state.
Hold the power button -and- volume up button for a good 10 seconds.
You may feel the phone vibrate once then a few seconds later it vibrates three times in rapid succession.
This should indicate the phone is powered down.
If powered down, it may then be able to recharge itself and if you're lucky show a battery charging icon.
When recharged, I'd use SEUS to reload the stock firmware.
Good luck.

Step 1 - Download a kernel.

Dead phone?

Hi
I have read and tried many of posts here, and other forums, to make my phone work again, but nothing does the trick.
It is about 8 months old, and as of 2 days ago, the top menu (the one you pull down) stopped working, being a windows man, i thought a restart would fix it, but it just made it worse.
Now the phone won´t turn on at all, there is no charge icon when its plugged in, it aint being detected by the computer, the charger gets hot tho, so i suspect it IS charging .. something.
i cant reboot it with the vol up/down + power, the screen is just black.
Tried removing battery while its plugged in and putting it back
Tried removing the battery and turning it on
Tried removing SIM card and turning it on
Tried .. many things
Any suggestions is welcome.

Is my M8 bricked?

Ok folks, normally I figure these things out but this one has me a bit concerned.
I was in ViperROM HUB and installed a font package, it needed to restart in recovery to install, so I allowed it. I turned to my computer and when I next looked at my phone the screen is off and refuses to come on. When depress the power button I get a vibration feedback but the screen won't come on. I tried VOL DOWN and POWER but nothing is happening. Im gonna let the battery run dead and see if that will resolve it.
Has anyone encountered anything like this before?

Hey!
I dont think its bricked.
Ghost helped me out with my problem, see below solution.
Try holding POWER + VOLUME UP for 20 seconds and it should restart.
However my case was different I was stuck in HTC logo screen and no way to restart.
On the M8 it is Power and Vol Up to perform a "battery pull".

Thanks grega_slo and gaiden0000 for the quick response and spot on advice.
I did that before but it didn't work, it works now…guess I didn't hold VOL UP long enough.
Yeah I didn`t know about VOLUP either
It scared the crap out of me when I S-OFFed the device and was stuck haha

having the same problem. flashed cyanogen nightly and when it rebooted got to the splash and then black. nothing. none of the above methods seems to bring it back. I can hold the power and vol up and get the splash to reappear but still goes to black. any thoughts of have I really bricked this phone?

Put the usb cable in then press vol up and power until it restarts. As soon as you hear the ding on your pc press and hold vol down and power, you should then boot into hboot MENU.

never seem to hear a 'ding' or any other sound but no matter how I time it - power/vol up then power/vol down still results in htc splash then just black. Phone was quite warm (not quite hot) when I went to bed last night and this morning battery was at "0". When I first plugged it in and pushed the power button it alternated from the battery charging display to the TWRP locked screen but I couldn't seem to get it to stay on the TWRP screen no matter what I did. Now that I've used power/vol up I don't seem to get the battery or TWRP. just black or when trying power/vol up I get the splash. Power/vol down gives nothing - just black
EDIT: Just tried - let battery go dead. Plug in to computer hold power/vol down. Screen goes from battery icon to blank and back to battery icon.
EDIT: Pulled and reformatted sd card in Evo 4g LTE. Retried fastboot command still just shows "waiting for device". Even tried adb reboot bootloader and reply "device not found"
Could I use adb to reflash ruu? If so would the command be adb flash (filename)
Was beginning to lose hope of ever fixing this but a HUGE shout out to Simer03 who provided the critical piece of information - namely - add a ROM zip to your sd card. Hope nobody else ever has this problem but just in case

Nothing is going to work unless you can either enter the boot loader or boot into the os.
You should still be able to access hboot unless that is corrupt. At the very least you need to hear the ding on your pc so you know the pc has recognized your device is connected.
Try again with vol up and power, hold until it reboots you should then hear that ding. If not check you have the necessary usb drivers installed on your pc or try a different usb cable.
