I am completely amazed at the battery life I'm getting on this phone! Considering what a powerful device it is I would have been quite happy with getting about 12-15 hours out of it but ever since I loaded in the ROM and recent OTA update I have consistently got 2+ days of what I'd consider to be light use.
I'm running Calkulin's 2.0.1a ROM+included kernel, EK02 modem, and I also have Tiff's Nothin but the Honey v5.0 theme.
I attached an image of the battery stats page so y'all can see I aint lyin'!
Anyone else get this kinda battery life out of their E4GT?
Yeah I am getting pretty amazing battery life after calibrating properly and running blazer from 2.0. When i leave it on standby at 100 it only drops to like 80% after 24 hours. Love this phone!

Mine too.
This seemed to start after one time the phone got blazing hot while charging.
It was just sitting on my bed. It was so hot the processor was throttling and
everything was jerky.
It's never happened again, but now I never see > 99% on my battery. :-\
I agree. Running Calk's 2.0.1a with Rogue 1.3 kernel, I get great battery life
10 hours on extreme use during workday with tons of calls...GPS...tons of texts...lots of emails...on screen time of 3 hours+.
On light weekend use WiFi I get 30 hours easily.
My buddy has the new Nexus and is lucky to get half my battery life.

That is the true battery life being displayed... It is impossible for the battery to be 100% full after pulling the battery out it would immediately drop to 99.9% it makes sense to me and is actually something I've wondered about on all of my other phones

Running EpIc VeNuM Rom Fast and Lean.
Any suggestions?
I am getting amazing battery life with unnamed rom . still at 50%
EK and EL releases helped a ton IMO. Even if I didn't use my phone all day on EG I might end with 40%. On EL I can go with no use and still be above 80.

That isn't a clear indicator either. I could have Pandora and GPS running over BT in my car which uses a lot of battery and that wouldn't help.
You guys should post screen shots of the screen on time. That is what will decide whether you're getting great battery life or not using your phone.

I don't have her phone in front of me but on 3g and wifi (half and half but barely used it at home) yesterday at 16 hrs it was at 65% w 1.5 hours screen on. Completely ****s on her previous phone
I have been unimpressed with the battery life. it will "NOT" last 1 day. heck sometimes I have to charge it twice
I might have a bum battery?? I just ordered the samsung charger with extra battery brand new. will see how that goes.
for now I use the 3950mah extended battery (lasts a full day) that I got off ebay.
I tried to let it update over the air but it always fails at clock widget and won't install the update?
After I changed it to minimum setting, my GNex survive from morning until the end of work without charging at all and it's still have 56% battery (normal use: up to 50MB data download, messaging, one or two calls, 9 hours or more screen time).
Is it normal that brightness is the most heavy resource eating the battery?
Um... yes.

I can get 9 hours of screen time no prob! (if my phone is plugged in the whole time) :cyclops:
Just look at your battery life report after 1 day of usage. Its blatantly clear that the screen is the biggest battery drain on the device.
Also calling BS on 9 hours of screen on time.
Yeah I think he meant... 9 hours overall not screen on time. That would only be possible on 0% brightness on a black screen.

Dude that's first-day stuff. Brighter the screen = more power being used. Avoid auto brightness too, all that constant adjusting of brightness is no good for your batt either. Just toggle it as needed
Sent from my A100 using xda app-developers app
Or if you have one of those roms where you can slide your finger across to manually adjust the brightness when needed, it helps save a little on battery life. But the days when you could just check the auto brightness box and be all good (ics) are no more now that jb is here. Even with that checked, you still have a screen that's bright as heck and devouring your battery.

I can't relate to any of that. Auto-brightness is fine, always has been. And there is no difference in screen brightness from ics to jb.
I read almost everywhere that auto brightness is not good for battery but never tested it.
May have to do with the sensor. I've never liked auto brightness, personally. I usually set mine at like 30% during the day and 0% before I go to bed.
So, no matter what I do my battery life stays the same regardless of what rom or kernel I'm running. So now I'm wondering if it's my battery, but I'm thinking even if my battery was bad the rom or kernel should have some sort of effect on battery life. Does anyone know if this may be the cause of a bad battery or what else could be the issue, I know for sure it's not the rom or kernel so it has to either be a problem with my phone or battery but I'm not sure which one it is.
Try running a looped video run down test. And report what you get for screen on time.

Yeah, that seems very low, I guess you may have a bad battery, by the way what ROM were you running when you did that test and you did test it from a full charge right?
Yeah I tested from 100%, I'm running Frosty JB v3.0, It's insanely smooth but like the other roms it wasn't able to increase my battery life. So far the only thing that will increase battery life is if I underclock the cpu. Other than that nothing else I've tried works.

I honestly don't think your battery life is that terrible. Streaming Netflix destroys your battery regardless of wifi or mobile data, and so does playing a game. Three hours of screen on time isn't that bad, especially considering you watched netflix for two hours and in your screenshot you have no bars of signal, which will also destroy your battery in a hurry.

There are no bars because I turned off data and was using wifi, I agree that netflix drains more than an average video played off the phone but I still think this is horrible. I mean 5 hours total is not something to brag about when your screen on time was only 3 hours, not to mention I underclocked to 1.2ghz to save power and was on the lowest brightness setting.

In Setting/ Power saving mode, check the "CPU power saving" then your phone will be limit to 1.1GHz max from 1.6Ghz.
I would suggest to tick on the "Screen power saving", "background color" and "turn off haptic feedback" to save some extra juice.
LTE on. 24h unplugged. 75% screen brightness. Full heavy haptic feedback. Heavy gaming and Internet use. Phone calls. Texting. 3D live wallpaper. Still 7h screen on time before the phone finally had to be plugged in.

Try a day without charging your phone at your desk. Yesterday I pulled in about 7 hours of on-screen time. That's with LTE and anything else internet intensive you could imagine. The only way you'll overcome that worry you have is to test it out yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I would understand this philosophy if the Note 2 didn't have an easily replaceable battery, but in a years time you could replace a poor battery for cheap. Just recently the stand with extra battery and charger was $30 on the Samsung site (it may still be that price)

You do know to "remove bloat" all you had to do was go into the stock app manager in settings and disable anything you didn't want. That is actually a much better solution than "freezing" with TiBu or removing altogether. I'm not convinced root and mods are 100% stable yet. Most people reporting decreased battery life are those that have rooted or modded something. I'm still 100% stock with ATT stuff disabled and batt life is still 7+ hours.

Even bare stock I wasn't getting that much screen on time. So far I've only rooted and changed the kernel. Though today my battery life is starting off good. Yesterday I ticked the power saving option for the screen. I'll post an update tomorrow.
Today I was on for 5.5 hours, screen time of 2.2 and was at 54% with Power Saving On
So I went to bell and grabbed another battery
Time will tell if that helps
I could never reach 5 hours of screen time but could have the phone on for 30+ hours
I cant wait till we get more developer support, I used Francos Kernel with my galaxy nexus and it improved battery by 30 % and made my 8 hours overnight use only 2% battery. I was using 12-17% overnight with my note 2 asleep. Aside from kernels and roms I use this phone exactly the same as I did my Nexus. wifi off, bt off, gps on, push email on, auto brightness

Lithium Ion batteries actually do better if you don't charge it constantly. In other words let it run down a bit before charging. You don't want to always keep "topping it off". But in general these batteries are much more resilient than others.
Just do some research. There's lots of info out there.

Umm, no, it does not. You are stressing the battery out. Unless needed, dont keep the battery below 20%. Its healthier to charge the phone sporatically throughout the day.
These aren't nickel batteries...they dont need to be trained or "cycled"

If you can keep the phone at cool temperature and charge at 40% and stop at 80% then keep doing 40-80, your battery will last double long

Agreed. Full discharges are not necessary for lithium ion batteries. Full discharges were needed for NiCad or NiMH batteries as they suffered from memory effect. LithIon doesn't suffer from this. With that said, a lot of experts do suggest discharging a LithIon periodically, maybe once a month or every other month.

Wow man u have to have something opened in the background that causes this drain. Disable gps and location or in stamina mode add google maps, whatsapp and other things that keep running... It did work for me.
Just to add a note. It's true that battery drains faster from 100 to 80% but it seems it last longer after that even when it is lowing. It seems that the less charge u have the more difficult to empty it..
Sounds weird I know but it is what happens to me.
Yesterday I managed 23hrs on one single charge and it gave me amazing 4.03hrs of screen time and I still had 17% left on charge...

My battery life post-update is identical to what it was before the update. There must be something else in the update that's interacting with an app or apps you guys are using to cause your problem -- I doubt it is the update itself, but more a combination of things.
Thanks to getting pretty insane battery life on the ZL, I discovered a couple of battery-draining apps that I was using that were keeping my phone awake (I imagine they were also responsible for my poorer battery life on previous phones as well). Since I nuked those apps, I get 2-3 days per charge on the ZL and that's only with using low-battery mode which kicks in at 20%, not stamina mode. My screen on time is usually around an hour with voice calls making up the majority of my usage. In my case, I found a couple of apps that were constantly accessing the GPS, thus waking the phone to do so and killing my battery in the process.
For those having serious battery drain issues since this latest update, have you guys considered installing better battery stats and actually hunting down what's keeping your phone awake and/or draining the battery?

My battery life post-update is identical to what it was before the update. There must be something else in the update that's interacting with an app or apps you guys are using to cause your problem -- I doubt it is the update itself, but more a combination of things.

Well TBH one hour of screen time is not a lot...

Of course it isn't, but that isn't my point. My point is that my battery routinely lasted 3 days before the .235 update and it still does after the update. Screen-on time isn't the only measure of battery life on a smartphone (I indicated that voice calls are the majority of my usage, rather than things that require the screen to be on all the time.)
All I'm saying is don't be so quick to blame the update alone for the battery issue. If tons of users aren't reporting suddenly poor battery life, the issue is likely isolated to a few users and their specific usage. Perhaps those with the issue should truly investigate the possible cause of their particular issue via a tool like Better Battery Stats before immediately declaring the update to be the culprit.
