After I changed it to minimum setting, my GNex survive from morning until the end of work without charging at all and it's still have 56% battery (normal use: up to 50MB data download, messaging, one or two calls, 9 hours or more screen time).
Is it normal that brightness is the most heavy resource eating the battery?
Um... yes.

Bro yeah. It does kill more battery.

Obviously it will kill less battery. But 9 hours screentime is pretty crazy..

9 hours and still 50%+ is also a blatant lie unless you have a 812948712mAh battery ducttaped to the phone...
I can get 9 hours of screen time no prob! (if my phone is plugged in the whole time) :cyclops:
Just look at your battery life report after 1 day of usage. Its blatantly clear that the screen is the biggest battery drain on the device.
Also calling BS on 9 hours of screen on time.
Yeah I think he meant... 9 hours overall not screen on time. That would only be possible on 0% brightness on a black screen.

I swear I had it.
Will put the screenshot if I have time later on.
The screen is huge for a phone. It uses battery to light up.

Dude that's first-day stuff. Brighter the screen = more power being used. Avoid auto brightness too, all that constant adjusting of brightness is no good for your batt either. Just toggle it as needed
Sent from my A100 using xda app-developers app
Or if you have one of those roms where you can slide your finger across to manually adjust the brightness when needed, it helps save a little on battery life. But the days when you could just check the auto brightness box and be all good (ics) are no more now that jb is here. Even with that checked, you still have a screen that's bright as heck and devouring your battery.

I can't relate to any of that. Auto-brightness is fine, always has been. And there is no difference in screen brightness from ics to jb.
I read almost everywhere that auto brightness is not good for battery but never tested it.
May have to do with the sensor. I've never liked auto brightness, personally. I usually set mine at like 30% during the day and 0% before I go to bed.

- Used the phone as I would normally without thinking about battery at all.
Very very happy. UPDATED with recent screenshots before I plugged it in.

Out of interest, how many times have you charged your phone (0%-100%)?
Never drained it to zero and started using it right away without charging it. Its been charged to 100 twice already. My uptime is 73 hours and that's exactly how long I've had the phone.

Wow! I wish mine was as good as that, seems to be getting better with each charge though, which is a positive.
Most I have got is 12,

Honest question, how many times are you more than 12 hours from sleeping or relaxing in your house?
12 hours is more than adequate for a normal user
This is mine after a fresh wipe and no apps installed. Just thought i`d see how it did with normal use.
Here's mine; at a point the phone got itself shut down for some reason, and I couldnt get it restarted at that moment, so I left it like that, and when I could turn it back on, it was quite warm around the camera unit, and also the battery was pretty much drained - thats what you can also see on the screenshot at the "20minutes" part of t he scale. After I've removed the battery and put it back, the phone was working for quite a while again, like 12 more hours.
I'm sure auto brightness helps as it keeps screen dim but during my use it was brighter especially outdoors. My whole point is there is no secret, you should use the phone as you would like it. One thing I could have done I'm sure to improve battery life is turn off wifi and bt when they weren't in use and possibly not have as many apps running but then what's the point in having the phone?: D

I get around 11-13 hours. Not too impressed. My iPhone 4S gets 20 easily. I'm really conservative on my Nexus too because doing anything intensive (games, video recording, youtube etc) really rapes the battery. I'm guessing some of you turn off auto sync or something.

I'm currently on 1 day 1 hour, with 50% left. Although with light usage.

I was able to do that last night but honestly not a big deal plugging it in.
It's simple really - the more you use the phone the worse battery life is but that's because you used the phone more! I never use the phone LESS just for battery life because then you're doing yourself and the phone injustice.
43% - 14h.. screen taking up 48%
from what I can see, apart from the screen, the biggest battery hog is wifi/3g

So JuiceDefender works fine for you? I just read that alot of users had problems with ICS and JD. Would be great if it worked though!
Here's mine. Since I was at work all day I only got time to play Dillo Hills for about 20 mins but I've found the battery is REALLY good after flashing the Android Revolution ROM. MoDaCo causes too much drain IMHO.
Battery life isn't too bad on mine. I got mine on the 10th and I used it right out of the box. Battery life wasn't that great until I did a charge to 100%. The OTA update didn't change much for me in regards to battery. Currently at 21h uptime and I'm at 32%.
HTC Wildfire

Do you take a lot of photos? Have you been leaving the Camera app by hitting the home button? Your camera app seems to be running a lot so use the back button to exit it if you don't already.
Considering you've always got Wifi on I don't think your battery life is that bad.
First screen no, second yes. As Chris said, I think you are leaving the camera on or you might use the flash in the middle of daylight. If you aren't, use the back button instead of home. Also turn off the WiFi when you're not using it. You can also set the screen timeout to 7 seconds or turn the display brightness down or to auto.

My display brightness is always low.
And I guess that Camera360 app had a prob. I removed it and now it does not show up in the Battery Usage. That screenshot was taken a few days ago.
I get around 30 hours of battery life after full charging.
Is this normal for HTC Wildfire CM 7.1.0.1?
Thanks a lot for your replies

18 Max just a rough guess and that's with all sync and background turned off, never use GPS or wifi either really, just that my phone is kind of glued to my hand lol and is always on looking on xda for the next mod/new app or messing with my screens to try and find a setup i might keep for longer than a day ha ha.I actually carry my charger round with me lol.

I just bought this phone yesterday and I must say, it is an amazing phone! I like ICS way better then HTC Sense. Anyway, I set it up the way I want it and turned off a few features to save battery life (Pulse notification, brightness at 20%, etc.) and I noticed after a full charge, the process Screen is at 70+%. Not sure what more to do interms of brightness, but I put everything to low yet is still is at 70%. Any help with this? I also did an update when I first got the phone, not sure if that would of caused it or not though.
I've attached a picture of my processes. Display is sitting at 70+% and it's only been off the charger for maybe 10 minutes and already down 4%.
Seems absolutely normal. You have minimized the amount the other parts of the phone use battery and thus the screens share increases. Try playing some cpu intensive games and the screen percentage will decrease
During time and more normal usage your screens share should decrease to about 50 %.
The battery usage monitor gives information about the past, not about what is currently using battery.
Lol. It's normal. That is actually a good sign.
My grandma beat me down and took my nexus. Sent from a jitterbug with beats by dre.
Lol what exactly do you need help with?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Ah, my mistake, wasn't sure if it was normal or not. Its gone down to roughly 50%, so pretty good
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Look at it this way.. your battery is at 96%, so 4% of your battery is used. Of that 4%, 70% was used by the screen, so 4 * 0.7 = 2.8% of the total battery.
Makes sense since you probably just took it off charge and haven't done anything except wake it up and look around the menus.
Also, hold volume down + power button for a screenshot.

I set mine to 50-75% when I'm indoors, when I'm in the sun I have to bump it up to 100%. I don't notice much battery drain from normal usage, only with games and video, they normally drain batteries really fast. I don't play any games only some YouTube or videos I took.

If you go to settings then power saving, you will see custom power saving settings you can then adjust how to same battery including the option for brightness.
I always keep mine at full brightness and I've gotten killer battery life. My phone averages 3-4 hours screen on time. Of course I can make that stretch 5 hours or one whole day. Depends on how much you use your phone of course.

It doesn't actually decrease the brightness. It only applies a great filter over it so things appear less bright. It doesn't actually save battery on LCD IPS displays. Only on amoled displays.

Yeah it just puts a filter over and makes everything darker. Brightness level is the same
Yeah the only way to save energy is to dim the backlight which isn't what this app does.

Rootdim actually dims the backlight.
