I started using cm7 final the day after it released. Work great for the most part. I know the navigation is messed up a bit and see that it may be fixed in nightly 54 and it sounds like FB is having issues too, but that the board knows about that.
I have read some of the wifi issues but don't see any elaboration on what the problems are exactly. So for me. @ home I have no problem accessing wifi and connecting (WPA2). HOWEVER, at a couple other sites, one running a d-link 825 WPA2, it acts as though it is going to connect, the phone says it is getting an IP address, then it cycles and starts over to searching, found, getting IP. It jut keeps cycling. My home wifi is a d-link 655 and like I said no issues. Anyone know if there is a quick fix or is this a greater problem?
If you have an answer, great, if not I hope this helps someone.

changing the channel freq may help, the wifi issue thats spread through the forums is no matter what they cant connect to any wifi, and the fix for that is getting the Tiwlan.ini from cm 6.1.1 and pushing it to cm7 fixes wifi issue, but since you are able to connect to home wifi, and not others changing the freq channel to 11 or along those lines could fix your problem

I flashed nightly 54 and lost wifi again, as with all cm 7 releases. I pushed the cm 6.1.1 tiwlan.ini file and it still wouldn't work, so I connected to mobile network first, then I turned on wifi and it connected. This method might help you.
As for the issue I have with the cm 7 releases, I can usually connect to wifi, but I get no data moving in or out with wifi and no connection to google servers (wifi icon turning green from grey in status bar) so no internet on any app or browser or market, etc.

You need to install the nightly 45 or 54 since WiFi drivers were rebuilt. Also, check that your wireless router isn't doing any kind of special speed boosting to the g standard. Lastly, try forgetting your connection and re-establish it.

Looking for any ideas...
When I activate WiFi near a known network, it starts to connect, holds at obtaining an ip address, the disconnects and restarts the connection process.
Happens on multiple WiFi access points, home, work, hotel. Rebooted my home router in the hopes that it was coincidence, but it did not help. Wife's Facinate and iPad, and both of our work laptops (Windows7) connect to the home network just fine.
Running CM7 Nightly 258
11/14 Incredikernel, downgraded to the unofficial 11/04 and the official 10/8. Even tried the stock CM7 kernel.
Was running the 08.08 radio, switched to the 07.07, but still have the issue.
WiFi works after a wipe and reinstall untill I reboot, then this starts.
My droid pro did that on cm7 for a while. It would connect if I went to the WiFi settings screen though. Have you tried going to WiFi settings while its in this connecting loop?

Unfortunately yes. I have turned on wifi from the notification widget and from inside settings and receive the same result, no connection and a big battery drain.
Fixed it over the weekend. In case others have problems with AT&T U-Verse 2Wire routers, the change I made that resolved it was to switch from the router default wireless security of WPA to WPA/WPA2...
I am unable to connect to my WIFI at home, I have tried everything I can think of, which is quite a bit. All I get is obtaining IP loop and then says poor signal and quits trying, (I have tried sitting right next to the router) My router shows that DHCP has handed the phone an IP, but the phone does not seem to take.
Tried adding a network manually
Tried advanced settings, and giving a static IP address, I can get it to show its connected but can not get any internet, data etc.
Tried the *#0011#
Tried a master reset, and tried to connect to wifi before installing anything.
I am at a loss, would not be a big deal but the 4G at home is sketchy, cuts in and out a bunch, plus for what I paid for the phone the wifi should at least work.
Tmobile tech support is not much help, neither is Samsungs.
Any help is appreciated!

Does your phone's wifi work on other networks? (Coffee shop, neighbor's, etc..)
What type of authentication is your router using? Try disabling authentication and see if it works.
What model is your router? Does it have up to date firmware?

Yes it connects to my work wifi.
WPA/WPA2
Its a Belkin router, not sure of the model off the top of my head, I know its somewhat newer cause it has the N protocol.
I would really suspect the router if I did not have other devices that work fine on the network, 2 kindle fires, 3 laptops, 1 S,Captive, Wii, and Xbox, and my Vibrant worked fine till I got this phone. Not everything is on at the same time, but I am sure that would not matter cause I have never had an issue when it all was connected at the same time.
Have you flashed a kernel lately? I have issues connecting to my router flashing some kernels. Just a thought.

Or if you are on a custom rom, reflash the same rom again.

same issue
I have the same issue, but my Wifi wont connect to any network and actually show throughput if I set the wifi power **** to off with the *#0011# menu.
I was stuck on stock roms because akop based (cmx) dont have that service menu.
I recently flashed to Uvalh2 stock rooted and the wifi works as it should for the 1st time ever. I flashed back to ulvem and it needs the 0011 **** again...
my home router is also a belkin with b/g/n, but my wifi never worked anywhere without the menu trick;
ANY help to troubleshoot if this is radio/kernel/rom based or what setting the menu changes so we can possibly set it manually in terminal..
thanks for this thread
Best I can think of real quick is to try different kernels and modems. (Check out the Modem Flasher in dev, makes it really easy)

Just hate the fact I have to try other kernels and modems after paying an arm and a leg for this phone, should not have to.
And seeing I have never done that before it makes me heisatate even more, I am sure I can do it, just that whole what it.
I just dont get why if I give the phone a static IP then it will connect, but can not move data, I went to the *#0011# and was able to ping the router and laptop on the network etc. I am at a loss
Anyone have any other suggestions on this issue???
You're on the stock 4.0.4?

Yes I'm on 4.0.4 no root or anything.
Baseband ver. UVLH2
Anyone out there have any more Ideas? I was hoping JB might have fixed it, but it did not.
I ROOTED and unlocked my phone as soon as the option was available. Afterwards I entered the *#6335623# to change the wifi popup. Ever since I've had to manually connect the wifi to the closest signal. I've tried to use the same *#6335623# code on the dialer but it doesn't come up any longer. Has anyone had this issue because I haven't seen it posted anywhere.
I'm running Aokp on the latest vrlhe radio.
Does anyone have any ideas. It seems that it now not only doesn't auto connect to closest wifi, its starting to say that all the connects are poor signals even when 10 ft away from the wifi box.
Uncheck the poor signal option under advanced settings, and see if that fixes it.
Hi,
I am having problems with wifi drops under custom roms (I've tried several CM10 builds and AOKP's JB Milestone 1).
Under a rooted stock rom (UCLH9) and ATT installed kernel (3.0.8-985684) I get a very stable wifi connection.
However, if I install a different rom via ClockworkMod, I'll get wifi connections for ~ 30 seconds (or until data stops transmitting), and then it will drop out. I have to cycle the wifi on and off to re-establish a connection. Again, I'll stay connected for 30 seconds or less and wifi will drop again. The rest of the phone works fine.
Despite the dropped connection, the wifi icon (under settings) will say connected but show no signal bars. In addition, the phone nearly comes to a halt and hangs, as if all processes are being devoted to reconnecting.
This happens on at least two routers (one at home, one at work), so I don't think it is a router issue.
I've seen some people talk about the *#0011# dial code to turn off wifi sleep mode. If I dial this under the rooted stock rom, I'll get the menu as expected. But if I dial this code under either custom ROM first I see "USSD code running" and then I get an error "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
If, after all this, I restore to the rooted stock ROM, wifi works and everything is fine.
Any suggestions for getting a wifi functional custom ROM installed would be appreciated.
Thanks
Avram
Sometimes getting a kernel for those type of problems fix it because they are basically replacing your phones access to your drivers (Wifi and so on)
This one puzzled me for a while. The rom comes preset to disable wifi after a certain amount of idle time. Go into Settings>Wireless & Networks>WiFi then press your settings button>Advanced> Keep Wifi On During Sleep> Set to Always. Maybe this is the fix to your problem.
This is happening to me right now with my LG G2, WIFI is stable on the stock rom but drops constantly with any custom rom. Did anyone find a fix for this?
I have tried several fixes including WIFI on during sleep to always, WIFI optimization off, different freq bands, I can't figure this one out...
