I was so excited to root the phone and didn't even spend time to read. I went to find your device and typed in samsung galaxy sIII, then it pointed me to the i9300 section.
I found the rom there, then flashed it. After that it's too late.
About the tmo exchange, should i bring it in the store or call them?
I bought this from the local CL seller, What kind of info do i need to prove it's my phone?
I have never done this before. I just need to get prepare see if I can get it thru, thank you

The problem with a lot of folks is that they don't read thoroughly. They see SIII and flash away.

Should I try samsung?
Anyone has experience want to share?

Wait... what did T-Mobile say? What did you tell them? Never tell them the truth. I know this is frowned upon, but whatever.
Never say you got the phone off craigslist. Be firm that it's your phone. Most likely warranty isn't verified on your account because you didn't activate the phone with your SIM initially... since it is off CL..
Most importantly, be nice to the reps, if you put them in a good mood they will try to help you. They pushed through an exchange for me before.

You need an attitude check. This was posted in Q&A, he had a question and needs help. If this was posted in the wrong forum, I could MAYBE see this kind of attitude but not here. You were helpful in giving him a link to get his device repaired, but the rest of it was just uncalled for.
kyhassen said:
I did research and no one gave a straight answer anywhere. i googled countless places. a lot of them said to do these button combinations and none worked. some say the only way to do it is through a jig. as you say Jtag. i do everything the way i usually do it by reading the posts before flashing.. idk what went wrong here.

As far as I know, he is right about JTAG being your only repair option. This may sound like an obvious question, but I have seen this happen before. Are you sure you were downloading from the right forum? (i.e. not accidentally downloading a ROM meant for another carrier.)
I'm kind of curious how this happens. Never heard of bricking from simply flashing a rom.

If rom is for another carrier or the international version of the S3 (i believe the I9300) then it'll brick it quick.
I thought the i9300 is the sprint version. i had looked it up... but oh well. I did more research i missed one step which may have caused it, or my download corrupted. But my next option is to find someone with a Jtag in my area.

Use a jig. Will boot up into download mode. You need to use Odin and flash stock. Qbking video is really helpful. Good luck.

Yup you flashed the wrong ROM. I had this happen on my Evo 3D, I don't remember which ROM it was but someone had linked to it from the CDMA forum and I took their word for it being a CDMA ROM. It was GSM. Fortunately I was still able to load hboot and loaded clockwork mod via fast boot. I'm sure you've tried going into download mode or recovery a hundred times by now, but one hundred and one wouldn't hurt. Make sure you are pressing the right buttons in the right combination and letting go at the right time. Honestly I think the SIII is a pain to get into D/L or recovery mode. It always takes me a few tries. If you can do that, you won't need to JTAG it. Good luck!

Q&A is for questions
No one should be vilified for asking a question, in the proper place, after researching - and no one should be made to feel worse than they already do when they've got an expensive paperweight they're trying to resurrect. We were all new once. Have patience and teach - especially to those who really seek to learn from their mistakes.

Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 Won't turn on

I flashed a new ROM, everything went alright, no error of anykind, when I rebooted the phone, the screen goes black, no vibration of anykind. I already tried taking the battery out and waiting 30 to 60 secs, hitting the power bottom without the battery then putting the battery right in and trying to get into recovery mode.
Everytime i plug the phone into the computer via USB, the computer makes a noise like it recognized the device but then asks me for the "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" drivers. I think i found those, not sure yet... Please help... I can't sent the phone to customer service since i rooted the phone my warranty is void.
Help please.
Bricked take it in play dumb they won't know your rooted its dead. JTAG will fix it 50 bucks I think. Weird it booted and was fine then won't boot. If you take it to T-Mobile play dumb they don't know any better. No wanted damage or cracks they'll replace it. Just call they'll mail one to you.

The issue was that he installed the wrong rom on his device. Happens all the time with the t989. He probably flashed a rom for an i9100. Both devices are marketed as the samsung galaxy s2, which confuses new users.
Try using Odin to flash the stock ROM. can you get it in download mode?

JellyBeast Roms by Rushing will be missed :'(

Your JellyBeast Roms were well built, unique and were only getting better
You were always so patient and eager to help people
and you had such a kind and positive attitude
I miss you man...
I hope you will keep developing in the future
and I am sure I am not the only one
chin up and Cheers m8
His jellybeast ROM was the first one that I ever flashed. Being a newb at this, I expected issues from everything I had heard about custom ROMS, but it was totally stable and ran great.

Also, if you have questions or need help, post in "Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting".

Take care in the procedures and be sure to double check that you're fully back to stock before exchanging the phone.

What if i went to tmo store and try to exchange the phone without unrooting? If just restore factory set will they gonna noticed it?
Use Triangle Away to reset binary flash status,
when it asks to return to download mode or reboot normally select download mode.
Plug into computer and flash the official Stock Odin file mentioned in above link and perform a factory reset once finished by booting to stock recovery.
I returned my phone rooted within the 14 days to exchange for a new one. Do you all think there could be any negative repercussions such as them making me pay full price for the new one once they find the "defective" one was rooted? I was a bit worried at the store but the took it back no questions asked.

YOU CAN RETURN ROOTED IN THEORY !
Ive returned rooted phones numerous times,I did with my s4 got it First, then went and got a HTC one didn't like it so went back 3 day later they gave me my same rooted s4 I exchanged to them 3 days prior.... and I gave them the Rooted htc one lol.... them sales reps, dont check or care.ONLY unless you get a sales rep whos a xda member and tech savy, he may check just to be curious.
When you factory reset it just leave phone NOT setup.
Usually they open the box to do a reset but u tell them u already did, as they will see its on the out of the box setup screen.
Not to mention if u do reset and setup before u return it, just hit menu hide apps/hide super user
If they boot into recovery theyll know but reps never do that not on a return or exchange. They just wana get u in and out, not like they are techs. And all they do is put it in return inventory to ship back as a NOW parts phone for refurbs.

youll be fine they toss them phones into a pile and ship back and they become refurbs samsung cleans them up and flashes firmware and sells as a refurb.
They cannot be tracked to you. Once its past your hands into the tmobile stores hands and u leave free and clear , it was the stores job to catch or deny you a return.Never would come back to haunt you, if did just say your clueless , store checked phone and accepted it.

Yeah OP since you are only exchanging for a different color, i don't think they will mind. Its usually for warranty purposes that root matters cause in theory you can change your kernel which could do damage to your device. So you should be fine.

A post I created was closed in which I asked an honest question. I don't understand why it was closed? I'll ask again: I just received my note 3 and want to know which way is best to leave my former phone . Custom ROM, Rooted or stock and why? I'm not advertising or asking anyone to buy it. I don't understand your question, but if you are trying to sell it, the best way is to do this:
http://elkepon.at.ua/load/tutorials/how_to_unroot_galaxy_note_3/1-1-0-13
If you own it for you and want to do something, i recommend to hack it and find the rom that fits your need, but they are almost the same...
Watch out how you do it, I'm having problems now with my phone because I did something wrong

If you really need to ask why then you probably shouldn't be rooting, rommimg or selling your phone. Nobody wants to buy problems and I'm pretty sure you don't want to be technical support for the buyer.

My question was after getting a new phone and wanting to sell my previous one, what condition is the most profitable to sell it in. Rooting, modding and tweaking is not an issue for me. I know how to restore my stock backup and unroot it or Odin back to stock. It is a phone that hasn't taken an update where it would be unable to flash a rom. So that was my simple question. Thanks for trying to be helpful and not rude though.

See my above post. Sorry you'd rather be condescending then helpful. Bad childhood?

The best way to sell any product that you did not create is to sell it how it came out of the marker, if u say that you hacked it, it will lose value. In other words... put it back to stock and act like it has never been rooted
Read it. And I've already thought it through. Hope this thread gets closed too because you're hardheaded.

Thank you. That's all I wanted to know. I wish more people were polite and helpful as you were.

Your first thread was closed with a closing note explaining why it was closed and you create a new thread again on the same topic in a development forum. When what your asking has nothing to do with development or the device forum for which your asking?
Thread closed
