missing live wallpapers? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

is the tmobile s3 missing some lwps or is it just my phone?

What do you mean?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Definitely maybe. How about you tell us what you do have and we'll compare notes.

well upgrading from my old vibrant running 2.2 this phone seems more like a downgrade in the lwp's
my old vibrant had a lot of neat stock lwps like nexus, galaxy spinning, neat circly clock thingy, etc. but the s3 doesnt..

Can get a bunch on zedge

The standard live wallpapers are pretty terrible. +1 on Zedge. It's an amazing app.

I ported it today.
When It works good, I will upload it

Vicious ported Sense 4 as well, he never posted it though, just tweeted about it.
Excellent work!

I actually liked TouchWiz on my Sprint GSII. It was very smooth because it had hardware acceleration and had some cool features with widgets, and the TouchWiz apps aren't all that bad.

yep...just sucks on tablets...at least honeycomb (well that was junk anyway)
@OP - please dont be like other people and never actually release it (or only release it when EVERYTHING is working)
I hate that...if something doesn't work...we can help...just publish it anyway
Wish I had a nexus....

It's nice to have choice and all... But seeing touch wiz on a Nexus makes me cry.

Sgs3 messaging app.

Hey guys,
Anyone know if there's a port for the messaging app from the Samsung galaxy s3? The one that calls when you put the phone to your ear.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Well the phone isn't even on sale yet, and when it is, it'll still take quite a while to port, if even possible. As nice as it'd be, I can't see it happening. Maybe cyanogen could add that in the future.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
No there are a lot of other threads about TouchWiz features. It requires a full TouchWiz port and the ROM isn't out.

That sounds like a pocket dial waiting to happen.

Bad choice with the S3?

You guys think the S3 was a bad choice for me? I've always been about pure android, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus. Screen cracked on the Nexus so I "upgraded" to an S3. It's really quick but kinda laggy. Galaxy Nexus was definitely quicker and now there's rumors of the new Nexus coming out around November/December which I'll wanna get. You guys think the S3 was a bad choice getting it at this time? Do you want the new Nexus or like Nexus better?
I could always sell my S3 when it comes out and buy the Nexus, if the S3 is still worth something in December.

The s3 will still be worth something in December. I understand your wanting a pure android experience.... But "quick but laggy", which is it?? I've had no complaints but everyone wants different things out of their devices.... If you are not happy with it, sell it and buy the nexus.
What's wrong with aosp?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I honestly don't think an LG Nexus is going to be that amazing. I've never been impressed by any of LGs phones.
Also, just install any AOSP ROM and you days of lag will be no more.

Touchwiz is as smooth as aosp. If not smoother. If you don't like it get the nexus again. Simple really.

After using Touchwiz for 2 months with ICS, it got boring because it lags. I flashed ParanoidAndroid and it's very fast.

Ya maybe the JB update will fix it. I'll probably get the new Nexus still though. I love pure Google Android.

Own a nexus and it is no way smoother than the gs3. But if you want aosp just install aokp,cm10 or paranoiddroid. All of which work great on the gs3.
Touchwiz does get clunky after adding all my widgets but nova prime on stock with touchwiz icons worked well for me too.. currently though aokp is going solid.

Ya I get this response a lot. I had the gnex, gf now has it and multi tasking was smoother, YouTube was a lot smoother. Watching YouTube on my S3 and pulling my notification bar down it is pretty clunky. I don't want to run custom anymore.

Lol you're in the wrong place if you won't want to run custom roms. As for the next nexus, I don't think lg is going to be able to pull anything off amazing. If Sony makes a galaxy nexus then maybe we'll talk!

I'm in the same boat with you. I think this device will really shine with jelly bean tho. I'd only switch if the nexus was a crazy camera. I don't game so quad core stuff doesn't sway me much

Ya my gnex was the same as this with ICS. Once I got the JB OTA, the gnex just transformed to a block of butter.

I used to think TouchWiz should be fast because it's the stock launcher. Nope. Even a few widgets slowed it down; Nova is my default and I am a happy camper again...

I don't experience home screen lag though. It's multi tasking and videos.

Oh, right; sorry I missed that. Yeah, my notification bar lags when I'm watching a YouTube video, too! Never had occasion to bring it down before there....
I think the JB OTA will solidify the GS3. I'm a little hesitant to run custom, too. I mean, they're called nightlies for a reason. If there was ever a bleeding edge, they are it.

Ya the lag isn't to big of a concern cause I think JB will really spice this phone up. I do t wanna run custom, I don't have the time to flash everyday anymore and keep up. And my laptop is broken rn
I'll still probably get the newest nexus though, if it has the rumored update and isn't made by LG.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
I have both a nexus with custom JB and I have my S3 back to Triune2 ICS. I tested JB roms on the S3 and they ARE noticeably smoother! Also nova Prime is definitely a better experience than stock JB launcher on nexus (especially if you take advantage of the swipe gestures).
If you want to check where the difference in horsepower lies, load a fancy live wallpaper such as ocean HD (it was 25c a few days ago), it runs like butter on the S3 but the nexus struggles with it!

Why did you but your Galaxy SIII?

I was wondering.. What did majority of the people that own a SIII, buy it for? I was talking to a guy at a Verizon stand about the GSIII and he was talking about how much he hated touchwiz, and how much it slowed down the OS (have to agree compared to stock android), but his only reason to buy this phone was to root it and put CM10 on it. And that was his whole argument on why he would get it. I love touchwiz since my Vibrant. I love all of the features and its looks. I love how it advanced from touchwiz 4 to this. It's fantastic to see this change. I bought my GSIII because I have had the two Galaxy S phones before this. If I wanted stock android, I would have gotten the Galaxy Nexus.
Now please, tell me why did you got your Galaxy SIII?

[Q] Feather Live Wallpaper?

Maybe I'm missing something or maybe I did something after I rooted, but I don't see the live wallpaper with the feathers falling? I see plenty of adverts about getting this "like the Note 2 has". But mine doesn't seem to have it.
Here is where they are even offering a copy in the play store
While I could just add that one, I'm curious on why we (or at least I) don't have the original?
it's only on the international version

Thanks. I browsed the international note forums, but didn't see a dump of the live wallpapers... has anyone gotten this on their sprint note?
I've got a International Note 2 (GT-N7100) and it definitely didn't have any live version of the feather wallpaper. It came with a jellyfish live wallpaper, a slideshow-type live paper and a couple of information-type papers (news & stock quotes), but no live papers based on the nature-themed dandelion or feather wallpapers.
I have seen the live versions of these in the Play store, but wasn't very impressed with their quality when I tried them on a Nexus 7. I assumed they were knock-offs that used lower quality resources than Samsung probably would have done.

Maybe there was never an 'original' Samsung one... Just live versions of what we had as a static ones. Oh well. I agree, the ones on the play are ok, but not quite as nice as the static ones in terms of quality.
