So im getting ready to send my phone In to samsung to fix and I flashed back entirely to stock and I am not rooted. Since I been on custom roms I havent noticed the cell stand by mis reading in the battery stats. My question is does that really have an affect on battery life is the cell standby fix just just for it to appear correct. I ask because im going to stay unrooted for a few days and im wondering if the bug will have an effect on my battery. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Purely cosmetic. It wont give you an accurate reading is all. Wont affect how much battery it needs.

Searching on google is fun, and easy,

I flashed this on jb with twrp so.. It should work with anything.
Edit. I think I totally misread, no no effect, flash that when you're back.
Thanks for the responses, really appreciate it. I figured it was cosmetic but just wanted to make sure. Thanks

UPDATE!!! I just installed agats kernel last night at 9p.m and today at 10:00 am my battery life has move than doubled from what it was. The onething I noticed that the Android percentage dropped from 63% to 39% when I reviewed what was using my battery. Anyone else seen this? Agats 2.2 kernel is the one I installed.

I thought it was bad at first but yesterday I got 12 hours and today so far its at 11 hours and 30 min's and is still at 57%. Its only gonna get better cause the OS is still the highest thing draining my battery so its still pulling the stats. I think its good battery life.
Same as flashing any ROM. It takes a couple of days for the battery to settle into the ROM. The first couple of charge cycles are probably gonna be garbage. After a few days you should be fine. Don't worry about all the whiners.
I think people been exaggerating the battery drain.. It hasn't been bad.. Just gotta give stuff time to settle in and stop tweaking stuff and always changing up something... I been having great battery with heavy usage

Personally, I have not had any issues. In fact, my battery life has significantly improved. I am still trying to pin down if it is app or ROM related.
So..... I should go from el29 to ff18?....

What do you mean stock is blotchy but just flashed the goodness? Is ff18 not the latest stock? And is there a good one click to get ff18? I still haven't experienced ics yet. Had a motorola electrify with locked up tight bootloader and was cut of ex gf's plan, got a sprint Samsung galaxy s 2 and flagged it to page plus, now I know the did razr has problems not working on page plus after ics being put on it.... Should I expect same from my Sammy? And looking forward to jellybean

If you don't flash a rom at 100% battery, does that hurt your battery?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
No, but battery life may not be the greatest for a couple of days. I like to flash at full, but if not, i don't sweat it. You want to make sure you have at least 50% though, in the event something goes wrong and you need to reflash.
Yes, the last thing you want is your phone to die during flashing process. That would suck.
I've flashed lots of times and I don't think I've ever had a full battery.
Never noticed any adverse effects.
I try to follow the OP to the T and I've had a lot of success flashing new stuff.

I've also flashed many times without full battery. Just make sure you have enough to get you through the process, though. I think I've flashed with as low as 25% before. I was sweating it a bit, though, I'll admit

I was wondering what you guys found as a good ROM was for battery life. I know everything is different for ever phone but I would like to know which ones had general success in that aspect.

It looks like a lot of people seem to like Team Sonic's FreeGS3 ROM. You should check it out on the android development forum, it's the one with 1 million+ views.

I use the goodness rom and it is great and it looks really good also
And of course there is The People's ROM. I think all are good choices. I am sure a moderator will close this, so I'll say you need to just try the different ROMs and see what works best for you. Be sure to give each ROM a couple days to settle and then make your comparisons.

In reality ROMS donr set the precedence for battery life. User and kernel are the determing factors. So like stated find a Rom that works well and then start reading and learning what tweaks users are doing to elongate battery life. But by asking this question I feel I should ask why not leave your device on the stock rom?

Root it, Flash rom, Test drive to see what it's going to do for you. That's the only true way to determine. Yes, this will soon go to rest with the other threads started like it. YMMV on ANY ROM.. Stock or Not.
Flash, and try some of them! It depends on the usage! Also gotta give the ROM time to settle, and do battery cycles. The only way to find out is trying.

Normally no...if the phone is not used at all and screen off. Of course that also depends on how many widgets you have and how often you get updates among a whole slew of other things (such as wifi, bt, gps always on, custom roms, signal strength, etc). I would recommend Better Battery Stats as it can help you pinpoint what is draining your battery the most and if there are any wakelock issues.

That msm-otg looks like your main issue. Other Samsung devices have had the same issue. I believe there is a way to disable it.

I know very little about it as this is my first ever samsung device. A quick google search landed me a ton of info so that is the way to go currently. Perhaps someone else here in the forum can point you into a more specific direction. At least with the screenshots loaded you give everyone here a chance to pinpoint the issues and assist. Wish I could be of more assistance but I have never encountered or read much on this issue.

Just got my t999L today, and almost done pulling all the data off the internal card. Would like to unroot it before I send it in the return sleeve but i want to ask what exactly is a Flash Counter? I see a few threads saying how to reset or avoid tripping it, but nothing quite explains what it is. Should I bother resetting it for a simple warranty exchange? And I assume I could simply do an Odin stock flash and that will take care of my unrooting issue?
Triangle Away will reset it.
THEN odin the stock firmware.

By the way, how's the t999l? Notice any big differences in download and upload speeds?

No no doc, please keep the answers coming! Wasnt compaining XP
And yes actually I have noticed great increase in speeds. Certain areas getting as much as 30up and 15down. Others are about the same down wise but the up speed has greatly increased.
Even if the speeds were in fact the same, I love that only select few roms work and there are bugs aplenty. I grew somewhat bored of everything working perfectly on the standard t999. Its like having the evo 4g all over again! Time to be a test mule
