Vibration Strength - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For those that have the phone, how strong is the vibration? My Galaxy Nexus is too weak and I miss calls on silent all the time. I am hoping this one is stronger.
Thanks!

For me, it's strong enough to tickle when it goes off inside my pants pocket.. and thats not a good thing.

I can always count on XDA for crucial information!!!

On the StockRom the Vibration intensity is really high. I've now installed a custom rom (paranoid android) where the vibration intensity is very poor. I can hardly feel anything when the phone is in my pocket.
Has anyone an idea how to change/fix that?

flash a stock Rom

I find the AOSP roms seem to have lower vibration intensity than the Sammy ones.

Above average. No way excellent! I was reading an article yesterday that Smartphones are worse in making calls, they should add vibration in their list.

Too loud to stay on vibrate while on a desk in class.

GN extremely low ringer volume?

Hey everyone, I looked around and didn't see anyone asking about this. Basically I am just needing to know if I need to do a warranty exchange or if the phone is working as designed.
I am coming from a Atrix, and it had the best speaker of any phone over ever had. Now I have the Galaxy nexus and it is very hard for me to hear the phone ring at all, or if I am watching a movie in a room with no noise it, it is hard to hear...
Is this normal? Anyone able to compare it to the Atrix?
Thanks

You didn't look very hard. It's a known issue. Try volume+ from the market.
Also custom kernels with a volume fix.

Samsung Galaxy SII T989 - Poor Sound

Hi, all,
When I talk on this phone, the sound is very poor... Although not too loud (like other complaints) but the sound crackles at high frequencies... The speakerphone is even worse... If I lower the volume, it gets better but sometimes a low volume won't help me with the conversation.
Is it my phone only or everyone experiences that? Are there any tweaks, settings to fix that ?
Thanks!
My phone seems fine and I haven't heard of this issue yet. Maybe I just haven't read up enough but it might just be that you got a bad phone. Exchanging would be the quickest way to get it replaced

I don't hear any cackles but the volume is very low even if I make it the highest it can be.
Mine actually sounds pretty good.
exchange it! Maybe you'll get a white one......

Just the color. They just rolled them out though, so they should be fresh.

Constantly running speaker?

So I just realized while I was surfing the web in a silent room, I hear a clicking sort of sound from my phone. So I held it up to my ear and it was sent, then I decided to touch and click on a few things. When I did I heard a click and a faint white noise coming from the speaker, it lasted about 4-5 seconds.
Then I began to wonder if this had to do with my terrible battery life. Does anyone else notice this sound?
I'm on sprint galaxy nexus with AOKP-JB (I have not yet tried another ROM to see if its the cause.)

As far as I'm aware it happens to all (most?) GNs' does on mine and there was a thread on if previously. Don't think its a real issue

Increase bluetooth volume and quality

Is there anyway to get louder bluetooth volume on a phone call and better quality.. I had the sammy victory 4g and volume was crazy loud and quality of sound was amazing for a cheap low end phone

havent really noticed any issues on my lg tones, jambox or my bt head unit....what are you connecting to?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I am using a blue parrot headset.
I'm using a Plantronics Voyager Legend and the volume does seem a little low even at maximum. It can be a bit staticy sometimes as well. Neither issue is so bad as to be annoying though. I had thought that the issue was with the Plantronics, but I suppose it's just as likely that the problem is with the Note. I haven't searched for a solution yet.

I have tried my headset with my wifes gs3 and my old phone photon and it is crazy louder with those phones, then I connect if back to my note2 and the voice prompt and commands are loud but when on a phone call isnt nearly as loud....

Silly question...but did you turn it up? I think there is a setting that adjusts in call volume to a lower level by default
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I've seen the same thing. Its a software thing because on Jellybomb 5.1 the volume us definitely louder but still not loud enough. My same BT headset was much louder on my Evo and is much louder on my WP7.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Ya I just wish I was smart enough to figure it out I have tried multiple Bluetooth headsets and all them get quiet when you start taking but use thm on other phones and are louder
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Any super smart developer that can figure this out there has to tweaks somewhere to increase the max volume
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
I would Definitely say its a problem with the note. The volume is way low on a call. I use a Moto hx550 and my GS3 worked great with it.
I have been following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931970
and tried the tweaks by editing manually, but it didnt help bluetooth volume. So I'm either not tweking the right volume values or there will have to be another solution found. Its frustrating, but hopefully something will come out of one of these threads...
I have an issue with my Note 2 Bluetooth quality as well. Using Motorola Elite Silver. Seems to be perfectly fine with playing music and as soon as I initiate a call the quality degrades their voice breaks up as well as mine. Works fine with other devices, currently have tried on a couple different ones in the Sprint store I work at.

What rom/kernel are you running? If its a tw rom with a compatible kernel you could try STweaks.
It has an option to increase standard volume limits.

Hmmm, its got to be rom related then. If your headset works fine on a different phone, then thats all thats left. There is one last option for you
I use a jawbone icon I got fron ebay.
What really made the difference for me...jabra ear gels. They look crazy! But they hold inside the ear without a hook. An it tunnels the sound dramatically. $6 for a full set left and right.
Honestly bud, this made night and day difference! Sadly their not available in any store anymore. But online everywhere!
If sound is this much an issue for you. I would say the $6 is worth a try.

There should really be a VLC-like setting on all ROMs that allows you to go above 100% on bluetooth volume if you choose to.

Weak vibrate

Am I wrong in feeling the phone vibrate is weak? I came from an Evo Shift and I could hear it vibrate from across the room. This can be in my pocket and I miss alerts.
Mostly I don't like actually having sound for alerts. Very seldom do I have my phone on anything other than silent. Is it just me? Is there anything that can be done? This is completely nit-picking because this phone is a beast and even with just ICS it smokes.

Depends on what pocket you keep it in.

I notice just the opposite. Coming from the Epic 4G, the LGOG makes me jump when it vibrates. I missed so many calls/texts/emails with the Epic.
Guess it's all relative based on one's previous phone.
This is very true. Maybe it's something I'll get used to. I could also change the pattern used. Might help make it more noticeable.

That's what I've done -- I use Type 1 for phone calls (very long vibrate) and Type 2 for SMS/email (5 quick ones).
Coming from the OG Evo and I share your disappointment with the weak vibration of this phone. I work in an office building and rely on the vibration for notifications. Really wish I could get this thing to shake a little more.

Might be worth adhering a little bell to it or something to get some sound.

I wouldn't call it nit-picking at all. On my desk my Evo 3d would really vibrate it was impossible to miss. This phone though I miss notifications all of the time, even in my front pocket, even with long vibrate, and pattern vibrate. I'm hoping something can be done about it as well.
I really doubt there is, which is sad. Still loving the phone!

I remember the haptic feedback slider, but not one for notifications. Then again, I was running CM7.2, so maybe it was removed.
Now I have my LGOG in a Diztronic case which, though I love the case, cuts down on the vibration by about 50%. I'm starting to miss a bunch of notifications now. But, since I already dropped and broke my first LGOG (didn't have a case), I'll keep the case and miss some calls.
