When on a call the ear piece is way to loud even with the volume turned all the way down seems to be a issue only on Cm10 Roms... any ideas....

I suppose if you've already done some good searching in the CM10 threads or any ROM based on it and didn't find anything, you must be solo in this too loud ear piece thing. Sorry bud.
Edit : ok, I was being a wise ass..It's a known issue. Seriously if you read the threads you would have found that out pretty quick. Try while in a call, turning the volume up first, then down. That tends to work.

Is it just my phone or is the ear speaker volume really low? I have it all the way up and can barely hear. On my other phone, its loud and clear.

I'm thinking mine is damaged. I found a replacement speaker. Anyone know how to replace it?

How to: REPLACE INCREDIBLE BLOWN SPEAKER
That's for the regular speaker though right? I'm talking about the ear speaker.

Whoops, sorry about that! In that case, I'm not sure about a link.
I can say though that on my phone, the ear speaker is plenty loud if I'm in controlled conditions (i.e. indoors, or a calm day). If I'm in nasty conditions (like outside on a very windy day), then the volume leaves something to be desired, but frankly I've never owned a phone where that wasn't the case.
Best of luck!
I noticed that the Stock setup the earpiece was very low, but practically every ROM I've tried it's much louder (especially the CM's).
Not sure of an easy way to fix your problem without flashing a new ROM though :/
There's an audio boost kernel Ucan try

Hello,
How are you?
So I noticed a small issue with my nexus.
When I am in a Phone Call, the earpiece kind of distorts the voices. It is hard to explain, but it is kind of like a robotic echo voice...
The situation returns to normal if I lower the Volume to about 40%.
The voice over the earphones or the external rear loudspeaker are fine though...
So, based on this, is it a defective earpiece, or a software problem that can be solved with an upgrade to radio/baseband?
Anyone else had this issue?
Thank you.
Cheers!
I too am having an issue with the volume and quality of sound coming from the ear piece. I can barely hear anyone and if there is any kind of ambient noise around forget it. From what I've gathered it is a bug in JB or 4.1. There are a few fixes floating around to increase the overall system volume, but they seem to fall short when it comes to the in call ear piece volume.
I have tried build prop edits with no luck.
What version of Android are you using 4.0 or 4.1?
I am going back to 4.0 Cyanogen Mod 9 to be exact and will see if this fixes it, if not this phone is going to have a date with a Big hammer.
Maybe some of the folks on here will chime in and offer some help or suggestions?

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I am running the stock 4.1.1.
My problem is not the volume. I have to lower the volume to be able to have a good quality output.
If I increase the volume, the sound increases, but the voice on the other side becomes distorted un a robotic maner.
It is har do explain.
Cheers!

Wow I wish mine was loud, I may go by the Sprint store and play with their demo phone.
If it sounds like the person is speaking through a kazoo, you have a bad ear piece. Had same issue on first gen sgs.
good day.
So I finally broke down and called a guy I knew that worked at the Sprint store he said to bring it in. I asked if it was cool that it was rooted and he said no prob, they placed a test call and said and the tech said," you have a bad speaker come back in a few hours and it will be fixed."
You do not know how many hours I spent looking up fixes, flashing this trying different kernels blah, blah, blah.
Take it in and have them look at it, just be cool with them and don't try to BS them. Hope this helps a little.

I think that's my problem. The sound looks like it is coming through a kazoo.
Oh well, guess I'll order a new earpiece...

Anyone notice thier speakerphone mic volume during a call is super low? Everytime I make a call and turn on speakerphone, the other party on the call cannot hear me very well. However, when I'm on Skype and using speakerphone it is extreamely clear and loud. Any Thoughts?
*Update*
So I noticed the galaxy S 3 uses the microphone on the bottom for speakerphone but the Note 2 uses the one on top. I've always thought the top mic was for noise canceling and real nothing else. I just don't know if I should get a replacement phone or if it is something that should be fixed with updates.

[HOT MOD] increase note2 volume significantly *UPDATED 2012.11.22*
Don't feel bad, I will be answering the same question 2 posts from now. Thanks for reading.
Doesn't this affect your outgoing volume, and not your Microphone?

I'm not worried about the actual speaker volume. I was commenting on the outgoing mic volume while on speakerphone. In other words, the person I call can't hear me very well while I'm on speakerphone in a quiet environment.

I thought it was the mic. I use speaker phone and always pointed the bottom of my phone towards me. this phone, sane prob as you, no one could hear me. as soon as I realized the mic switches to top,I turned the thing upside down and problem was solved. make sure the top of the phone is pointed towards you and not the bottom as you'd assume

I just used my speaker phone just to see how mine works. I had the phone 2ft away with top hole speaker facing me
And then I switched to normal talking. And my friend couldn't tell the difference between me using speaker phone and normal talk.
I know this is old but i can't find any other info on this issue. When i click on speakerphone during a call i have to speak into the mic at the top of the phone and i have to put my mouth right up to it. If i back up one inch they cannot hear me. The bottom mic does not work. Is there a fix for this?

My guess is you have a conflicting setting in Perseus...I have seen a few others mentioning a similar problem.
Thanks for replying...I trued with stock kernel also and same issue. I think my next move is to reset and see what happens on stock ROM and kernel.

Update...i flashed Clean rom 4.8 with Perseus 36 and speaker phone is working now??? Wtf oh well im happy...

Not sure about that question. ..only you would be able to determine if it's working or not.
This is something that I really mis from my s3 probably the thing I would pick if I could change one thing. The phone gets decently loud when playing music (and the quality is amazing) but in call volume I constantly wish it got louder and the same is true for the speaker phone while in call. I think even just alittle bit louder would make a huge difference since for me at max volume its right at the edge.
Anyone else feel the same? I cant be the only one and I have good hearing lol. Please someone fix this!
So far I am seeing my problems disappear one by one as mods come out (share button in blinkfeed, green battery now clear, 30 volume steps for games and music, ect)
That's odd... I find it too loud already just setting it up 2 steps below the middle level of the volume when in call.
Maybe you have a dud. I can hear mine at almost max volume just like a speakerphone on a cheap device. It really is quite amazing

IDK my dads HTC seems to exhibit the same behavior. I will test more to be sure but I doubt its hardware related since my speakers sounds strong with no distortion or anything.
Hello!
is there any way to improve(increase) call volume/sound?
Sometimes call volume seems to be a bit to quiet and I have problem with understanding what the other person is speaking. Stock rom no rooted

Sorry to tell you, but that's how it is, unless you root hov.
Then you have chance to improve sound with various apps, like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Before rooting or trying anything radical, try to clean the speaker first. I had the same issue call volume was barely audible so I took one of my mom's sewing needles and I used it to clean the holes above htc logo. If you happen to have a needle or toothpick or anything similar, place the toothpick in every hole and wiggle it using mild and I repeat MILD force. If you push too hard you might damage the speaker. Give it a try you wouldn't believe what a huge difference it made for me.
And for bratusm, are you sure Viper4Android improves call volume? I have it on my One V and to be honest I haven't noticed any difference...
Enable extra loud and set the effect strength to extreme. I find mine way too loud like that though.

Like I wrote, "there is a chance..." :fingers-crossed:
Yeah I just enabled eXtra loud and used convolver and made a phone call, volume was indeed louder. So V4A's effect applies to both speakers... that's interesting.
