Will it be this... or the Galaxy Nexus?

This phone looks tempting... I look at it as a super sized Epic touch LTE! What do you guys think? Or are you aiming for the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint?

No that's gsm has nothing to do with Verizon or sprint ... VZW already had 32GB one But international gsm will not have a 32GB version
Rumor is Sprint will have omap 4470 chip in it ....

No, he means 1.5Ghz as opposed tot he 1.2Ghz it originally shipped at, although that part's not rumor, it was in Sprint's own advertising. The part that's rumor is whether they're bumping it to a newer OMAP processor altogether. Considering the Quadrant results I got between my SGSII and the Galaxy Nexus, that bump would be needed.
Still, I'd agree the Galaxy Nexus is a better bet unless you need the special stylus functions. Overall just having stock Android is a big enough sell to me now.

I wont get the nexus if it has the 4460 in it just not enough of a jump over epic touch , but if they release soon with 4470 I will jump quickly..

The only thing the galaxy nexus has that I really want is an HD screen. The thing is tho when you compare the HD vs PLUS display you notice the plus isn't outdone at all. Once the epic 4g touch gets 4.0 it will be the better phone.

Yep, I had the GNex for a couple weeks, I actually preferred the E4GTs screen.

I would go with the GNex over the Note any day. The Epic is big. The Nexus is bigger, and the Note, well, that's in a league of its own.
I have sort of longed for the HD screen of the Nexus, but since the Epic has more sub-pixels than the Nexus, the two phones technically have the same number of total pixels. I have used LCD resolution, and changed my value to 160 (stock is 240). I have the look of an HD screen, with almost no down sides. Some icons look a little fuzzy, and I had to change out my launcher, as the Touchwiz launcher doesn't play well with anything other than stock resolution. But it makes the phone look so much better. And once I have HD resolution set up with the ICS update, it will be that much sweeter

Well I still had Sprint, was testing out Verizon before I cancelled my Sprint account. Didn't like the GNex and didn't like Verizon so I returned the phone.

Well I have since left Sprint for AT&T (just hanging around here cuz I like you guys so much) but even if I was still with Sprint I would for sure pass on it. ICS is the ONLY reason to get the Gnex, but I would much rather have a more powerful device with an older OS version, ie. the E4GT. ICS is cool, but it doesn't make up for the GNex's sub par hardware. ICS really isn't even the end-all be-all that everyone is making it out to be.

from what I seen (and used in the Verizon store) the gnexus has a subpar camera... But who knows they may pack a new sensor in it for sprints variant

I was afraid of that, I am hoping that ICS is what its suppose to be. From the looks of it I dont like it, it seems like they are going for a more user friendly look and feel ( iOS) but the icons are bigger and I dont know if I am a fan of it. Now as for the functuality of it, that I am interested in! But I am looking into the GNex for my next phone, simply due to the updates and it'll probably be easier to root than the galaxy s 3 or whatever.

I am sensing some sarcasm in the article.

I've got to say, the Nexus just looks & feels better than the skyrocket...but having said that, from what I understand... the skyrocket is a better phone..... the BIG plus is being able to add an external SD card!

Im sure alot of people upgraded from original Epic for S Amoled Plus-Nexus aint got that.
With them Nexuses they always fck up somewhere,all they had to is put led,samoled+ and sdcard and i would have got one.
But lately all Nexuses fall short in some category.

16GB is more than enough for me specially now that I have all my music uploaded to both Amazon Mp3 and Google Music, I would need memory for custom roms but i tend to run on no more than 2 so I am good with 16gbs! I havent touched a GNex but I will and I guess I would go from there.
From What I have read the Epic Touch has a BETTER cameran and no not because of the megapixels either.

It turns out that the Blaze 4G is nothing more than a downgraded version of our phone. I thought it was going to be similar to the Skyrocket HD and get a Super AMOLED HD screen. This is good news for us. I didn't want us to have an outdated phone already.

The blaze is a whatever phone which makes me happy that I'm not gonna have phone envy and have to buy another one.

But that was almost a year after they had been selling the Vibrant.

So basically it's our phone, but without the flawed screen. Funny to see them go back to the smaller screen, most likely because they know that ours has issues.

seriously? most people don't notice the flaws untill you put it under certain conditions.
I think this is because all the people who dislike large screens such as the galaxySII, nexus, note but want high end specs. Think about it. How many phones under 4.3" have specs that can compete in 1Q 2012?

You're absolutely 100% correct. My commnet was more of a poking fun at our phone's screen comment.
T-mobile currently has a couple high end phones and a plethora of mid grade phones. This falls in the middle.

I beg to differ. HTC is good in their own respect. After coming from mostly owning HTC devices, I really love Samsung and how easy and fluid everything is. HTC locks down every aspect and really load it up with proprietary crap. Sense may be eye candy but it gets old quickly. The only thing IMO that the new HTC devices has on Samsung is the beats audio, that's only because I have the beats studio headphones. Still isn't anything you can't achieve with playerpro. The galaxy s3 is what you need to watch out for

Lmao no removable battery and no expandable memory. Unless tmobile changes those two aspects those phones are garbage unless they are going to stop throttling because cloud storage doesn't make up for the lack of memory on these phones. All it takes is to be in a bad area and upload to dropbox to have drop box in a infinite sync then bam throttled speeds. Unusable smart phone. Till you get wifi or wait till tmobile removes throttle.

Thats pretty much why im against cloud storage. throttleing sux.
Device mfg's love the idea of cloud storage because it means they can make their products thinner and lighter. also, a device that doesnt accomadate an sdcard has more room for a bigger battery.
The mobile carriers both love & hate cloud storage because, while they can sell higher priced data plans, it puts more strain on their networks.

The problem I have with those phones the HTC one S has only 16 gigs. Music and videos will easily take up half of that. I can tolerate the non removable battery but at least put a reasonable amount of space like 32 gigs and 64 gig internal memory.

I thought they were shipping them with 32gb, well at least the HTC one or x. whatever it's called lol

actually tmobile doesn't have to change those aspects because its based on the manufacturer to start pushing these new technologies to the customers. im sure many companies want to start a new trend like samsung is doing the galaxy note and im sure other companies will follow. as you know iphone don't have removable battery and external memory cards and they are doing just fine.

The memory isn't expandable as the gnex has no SD slot.
Its 16gb because its the GSM model.
The GSM model is better in my eyes as it seems to have less problems than the vzw 4g version and it can be used all around the world.
300 dollars after using you gc seems an OK price.

I guess the question is, get this? Or buy something on contract like the Xperia Ion (should be out in a week or so)

newer isnt always better, and ud have fhe sony bloat like timescape and stuff really is useless. also, think about this, sony has like 10 devices coming out soon,what do u think the developer support would be like？ ya you might get a custom rom with stock ics, but very veru limited choices. anyways, the sonys dont even have the newer gen hardware, so i wouldnt consider the sonys. maybe the htc one x or s3 but not sony

That's true, but I'd like a new device sooner than later, the One X and S3 are a ways off, especially the S3. I do fear a lack of support for the Ion, but the camera is top notch, and that is genuinely important for snapping pictures of the kids. My captivate is running fine with ICS, but the camera is only ok. Plus, I'd like a little bit bigger screen

The nexus is great for snapping pictures of kids because it has an instant shutter.
Phones aren't great at taking pictures for framing. They're great for snapping quick shots for Facebook and quick emails.
My G2x had a crisp camera but couldn't snap my kid without motion blur.

Bricked my Nexus S, should i get a GNex now?

Is it still worth getting the Galaxy Nexus? should i wait until it has been dropped in price because of the new one or how much will the new Nexus be?
Money is tight and i live in australia, thanks.
Info: Nexus S has a cracked screen, wont respond to jig/unbrickable and i dont want to tamper with the inside.

Considering that we're (likely) a couple weeks away from knowing some good details on a next-generation Nexus device, I'd just hold off if you can. The Galaxy Nexus goes for about $400 internationally right now, but if it continues to be on sale when the new one comes out it'll surely drop in price. Not to mention that if you're willing to buy used you'll be able to get one for next to nothing.
If money is an issue then you're likely going to be looking at the Galaxy Nexus rather than the new one (unless Google does some crazy pricing), so I'd just wait a couple weeks and see.

If the specs we're seeing about the new Nexus are accurate, I'd stick with the GNex. 8MB of internal storage with no SD slot is a bit of a joke. You're also only looking at a moderate upgrade on the screen and processor, from what I've been hearing.

We don't know the final storage options when the phone goes on sale, so I find it funny that people are already recommending against it based on what a prototype device has for storage. You'll also never seen an SDcard in a Nexus, so that's not even a knock on it.
We also don't know what the screen is like. LG is well known for very good IPS screens, so we'll see.
How is going from an OMAP4 to a S4 Pro quad-core a "moderate upgrade". Are you high?
Also, from 1GB to 2GB RAM is a good upgrade.
It all hinges on pricing and how much you're willing to spend, but if the LG Nexus turns out with the specs that we've seen, it's going to be a very worth-while upgrade.

Gonna need a better argument than "well its also LG", as if LG is incapable of making good devices.
Why can't you live without AMOLED? What if the screen is clearer, brighter, and has no banding or graininess? Would you be able to live with that?
Again, don't see how people can judge a device that they've never seen or has even been released and reviewed.

If money is tight, I'd recommend the gnex. But wait until the new ones out. Instant price drop, but if you can afford the new one, go for it!

Because no screen can ever have as deep blacks as AMOLED screens. And I've had a bad experience with LG. Their phones may be fine but the people who work for them aren't.

It's 8GB because what we saw was a prototype or whatever. I guarantee the final Nexus won't have only 8GB.... This was said like a million times by the way.

I don't get why people think of selling there SIII for the nexus 4

I don't understand why people will sell there galaxy S III for the nexus 4. Galaxy S III comes with a with micro sd slot, bigger display, better front facing camera, and LTE.
I understand that the LG nexus is a nexus phone and always get update faster, wireless charging, and quad core. But I don't think it still outweighs the SIII. I think the SIII is still superior.
For those people that don't have either phone yes it be more difficult to choose mainly because the Nexus 4 Price is amazing for what it offers. but for those people with SIII how is this even debatable.

The fact that the nexus 4 doesn't have lte is a deal breaker for me. I didn't think lte was a huge thing until it finally came to me are, and now there is no way I would ever consider a phone without it.

CPU is a quad core which is nice I agree but most the stuff on android don't utilize it, so its pretty pointless until later. No bloatware, we can already use custom roms or titanium to get rid of it. Not sure what to say about the screen I never seen it personally not going to judge it either. Wireless charging is cool I guess, but I doubt it charges faster then a direct connection. We can toggle off LTE and get pretty amazing battery life with the SIII both devices are both the same size battery. I agree16 gb is enough for me, but I like the fact that the SIII allows us to add more storage if we ever choose to. Maybe its because its new and its over hyped, i must admit at first I was like I want it. But I really thought about it and I realize its not worth it.

The fact that the nexus 4 doesn't have lte is a deal breaker for me. I didn't think lte was a huge thing until it finally came to me are, and now there is no way I would ever consider a phone without it.

Thats how I feel.

LTE is great. Those that say its "not ready for prime time yet" must not have it in their area or haven't tried it yet. I'd love to get the N4 but 21mbps HSPA on ATT in San Diego nets me all of 1mbps down and that's a no go. If its 42 mbps then maybe.

+1 no Lte no way,16gb no where near enough space for me, shoot my 32gb sd card is almost full, no bloat not even an issue can be easily removed with titanium backup, my s3 dual core/2gb ram loads everything just fine, in my opinion I have yet to see another android manufactures phone screen that looks better than the s3, I have a nexus 7 and screen looks washed out compared to my s3, only other phone worth considering selling s3 for right now is the note 2 if you can deal with the size.

The nexus 4 is nice and all, but it doesn't really do anything the s3 can't . And with the dev support we have here, we really don't need to wait for updates.

3 main reasons I wont switch to a Nexus 4
1- I need 32g minimum
2- Its made by LG
3- Glass on the the back ? WTF ! I hate scratches.

Well it's a quad core.
Nexus line means direct support. First to get updates. Maybe I don't have to flash roms to get better battery life. Stock Android look.
Beautiful design. Cheap price. Don't use lte that much.

Lol. First to get updates always makes me laugh. Hours after source is released which is when the nexus line gets their updates I have ROMs released for whatever device I own. So I guess in a way I'm first to get updates too.
1.) Its made by LG. That says enough I would think. I can most here all the complaints a month or two after releases about this not working, this is broken, etc..
2.) Better screen? Not sure how you can state this unless youve personally held the phone in your hand. Spec sheets arent always as they seem . Just remember which company is known for producing the best screens out there.
3.) It really all boils down to personal preference either way. But I'm sure we've all learned that newer isn't always better.

The only reason I'm considering it is because of the price. I would love the freedom of being eligible for an upgrade because att will bend over backwards to keep you. Before I upgraded to the gs3 I was considering moving to Verizon and att pretty much gave me $50 off my bill for the next 6 months and sold me the gs3 for $99.
But without a micro SD card I don't see no need to switch

I'm sure it is a great device, I don't think Google would sully the nexus name with a bad piece of hardware, but the reputation that lg has is not the best in the game.

I'd have to agree with the few that have noted LG - enough said. They have never been the brand I look to for phone tech - Samsung, HTC and Motorola are the only ones to consider.. The few LGs I've used/played with have been less than impressive.
Addition: Google has stated that they are releasing multiple Nexus devices, so if I were to give up my S3, I'd wait for the next Motorola or Samsung device.

I find it silly that people would sell their GS3 for this Nexus 4. No extra storage, no removable battery, no lte, no thanks.
It's great for anyone that doesn't live under LTE coverage and can't get out of their contract/don't want to upgrade and sign another contract.
I also find it funny that these same people who are praising the Nexus 4 are the same ones that knock the iphone (remember when the 4s came out?) Heavy on the fact that it doesn't have a removable battery, no expandable storage and no LTE. All of a sudden it's cool now? Get out of here...

Lg has crappy software support but with this being a nexus that's no longer an issue. Samsung is taking forever just to release 4.1.1 do y'all realistically see Samsung pushing out 4.2 this year? Even then we would wait for att also. There's not doubt that the phone will get this update eventually with cyanogen.

+1 on no chance of getting it because it doesn't have micro sd or removable battery. I could probably handle the battery, but not the lack of micro sd.

I would be willing to go out on a limb and give LG a try for a Nexus device but...no removable SD is a complete deal breaker for me. Cloud storage is not a good substitute for local storage yet. And 8GB or 16GB just isn't cutting it anymore. I hope the SGS4 has a 32 & 64 GB version with removable storage. I love my 50GB dropbox (thank you Samsung) but it just isn't the same as direct attached storage.

Technologically, it is pretty much undeniable that the screen is better. It can't produce as much vibrancy, but it is so much better on color preciseness. I don't notice it that much on my S3, but when I stick it next to a relative's One X it's pretty obvious that the whites aren't white and some other colors are slightly off as well. In day to day use, I don't care. But, seriously... dat screen...
