How to make video call on ICS......rom CM9 Beta 2 - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

help

why does not anyone want to help me

May be because no one knows it yet. I have not tried even with Skype.
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda app-developers app running CM9 Beta 2.

Cellular Videocalling is not an option in Cyanogenmod. If you want to videocall with your phone you will need to use and third party app, fe. skype
do note, that videocalling drains your battery quite fast

ics dont hv video calling features.

VideoCall
With GTalk!

With YahooMesseng or other chat apps support with videocall

There isn't a 3g videocall support for CM9. Because google blocks it. Every CM9 based roms are the same.

now i'm using video chat on wechat, working great at my device

There is a modified skype app in the Hacking and Development section that supports video chat. I think you have to be on a gingerbread leak though. I'm on EG22 and it works great!

I use qik but I don't know if that would work if they're using skype and oovoo

I would think it work seeing as how Skype owns qik now. But I could be wrong. Everyone I know has qik on there phones so that's what I use.

Skype works if you're on bamboozle rom. You need to have a modified skype app though. I believe from the I9000 xda thread. Look around.

ooVoo works best for me - but remember one important thing - both of you must be on the same software - if you want ot talk to your friend and he is on ooVoo, you must be on ooVoo - you can also have more than one video chat software on your phone to say accomodate another friend that has Qik, therefore you must be on Qik also.
Found the modded skype video chat its freaking awesome. First acceptable video chat from my epic and all my friends have skype. I'm on eg22 as well

The Skype app is definitely the way to go all the other apps I used were complete crap. I haven't used gtalk but skype is flawless.

APP 4 Video Calls on EPIC ?

MODS..searched and searched and no answer so if theres another thread with same question then just merge or delete actually the only other thread i found hasnt had a response since july and its almost end of sept.. so
IS there an app we can use to take advantage of the front camera to make video calls ?
if so what is it?
Can it be used running Froyo?
TIA.
I wanna say ooVoo does, I believe it worked for me before on froyo, I recently used skype on gingerbread and it works great :]

Looking back now I really couldn't find an actual working video app myself...hmmm let me know if you do run into one.

Check out fring
I have never had an enjoyable experience with video chat on froyo. That's the only thing the gingerbread leaks can do better. That said on gingerbread:
Oovoo sucks
Fring sucks
Qik sucks
Modded galaxy skype is good
Gtalk video chati hear is good
However I have no 4g whatsoever so this is all on 3g
Hope this helps

Tango
I've played with Tango on Froyo and it worked ok.

Before searching , is Tango available for Free and on the market ?
Have to agree, and Tango is multi-platform, so works for iPhone users too...
I wouldn't put any of the leaks on her phone. Stick with an ec05 build they're solid. As far as a video chat app Im not sure of one for froyo. I think Skype only allows voice chat for froyo builds, don't quote me on that though.

skype only works with gb (personally tested it) skype will NOT allow you to video chat with froyo.
it will even provide this statment when you first startup the skype app.
just go to the market and in the search box type "video chat for android" and it will give you all the apps. the only one that i like is skype. it was the only one that worked smooth for me.
SORRY! I COULDN'T POST THE APP LINK PAGE FOR YOU.
Tango works well on wifi/4g. It auto-searches your contacts and creates a list of who else has it.
That's what I use

Your Skype is working. Do you have icons for Video on it? I've had it before but after upgrade they disappeared.

I've got GTalk, but it doesn't seem to want to let me use video. My girlfriend is always on GTalk and I would kill to be able to show her what the hell I'm talking about when I'm shopping and I need her to tell me which item to throw in the cart.
I'm on a GB ROM, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
PS: To anyone wondering why only certain programs can do video chat on Froyo, it's because GB includes an APK that allows the OS to grab video from the FFC and provide it to the application asking for it. On Froyo, the app has to be written specifically to be compatible with the device to use the FFC.

So what's the best video calling option?

Of the software available such as qik, google chat, skype video and a bunch others, which have you found to work best with the epic 4g?
Also, for any suggestions, please let me know if you're using Gingerbread or ICS. I'm running Gingerbread myself.
Skype works pretty good for me. Haven't tried Gtalk video yet. Qik sucked.

Google video and skype r both good. As long as u have a good data signal. Either 4g or wifi.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Qik has been the best for me. It is made by Skype. Only real difference I saw between the two outs Skype forces you to chat in landscape mode which I hate.

Native video calling

Is there a way through flashing to enable, native video calling through the stock dialer like on the international and ATT versions? Apparently video calling is a standard of 3g all the way up to HSPA+ .... please help native video calling would be sweet I hate having to use apps.

csipsimple integrates with the native dialer and of course there's gtalk/hangouts though not sure if these are what you're after. Keep a eye out for an update to the cm10 beta as that will have it.
